okay got some guide lines set up, so I can get on with the getting

Path of Nappy is one of the campaigns that can be played, from the French point of view, don't want to get into all the fancy rules or goals, but lets put it this way, you are Nappy, and you are under a lot of pressure to do what he did and do it better, this war is part of trying to get some of the goals that I need to be able to win the campaign (besides the fact, I like to fight the Ossites:)

a little background, a few wars have already been fought, Prussia and the Ossites have been hurt, while the Russians have been a royal pain, I caught the main Russian Army sneaking though Ossiteland, and gave them a mauling, they headed back towards Moscow and have not been seen since, but there may be a vanguard starting to show up again in Ossiteland

war has started with the evil Ossite Empire (well, it was a Empire a few months ago)

since my last war ended, I was pretty much sitting in, rebuilding my troops and getting some training in, while my Navies did most of the fighting, with England and Russian

so, he is a screen shot of the main map and my Armee set up

hmmm, snap was too big, had to cut it down some

first off, let me say, that not all of those Armies and Armees are really Army sized containers

the two Grands and the Armee du Sud are true Armies

the rest are Corps

if all goes well, these are the opening moves for the attack on the Ossites

(ood, says the file is too large, but it is under the limit ? hopefully, I won't have to cut all of the screen shots)

and some info for before the battle begins, this is Armee du Sud, Nappy is close by, if I need him, but since this will be Armee du Sud's first battle, think I will leave them be

start of my deployment, sitting up behind a Cav screen, so the enemy don't know what I am doing, until I am ready for him to know, which you can also see the enemy has a screen out also

plus I like to show off my troops, the Russians were kind enough to let me keep these guns

now, the trick is, to get the enemy to lock onto my screened force, while the rest of the Armee marches around there flank

this don't happen much, but you still got to try

What is the 7hex line around your Cavalry unit ? It is still one unit in long line formation ?

hmmm, this comes as a bit of surprise, I didn't expect to find any enemy troops to my left, I thought they were all to my right, of course, bad luck for the enemy troops, as that is my main force coming down at them, guess I will clean out this flank first, hopefully before night falls, so I can be ready for the main battle in the morning

from the shot, we can "guess" they enemy numbers as being at least 3, one Cav, one Garrison and maybe a supply wagon

It's a cavalry screen, one of the new features we've added.

the blocking force is the main attackers, some of the flankers are closing in, enemy Cav is in a bad spot, which ever way it tries to defend, it is outflanked

the Ossites troops were doing too much damage to my screening Cav, so had to square them (most charge attempts end up with the enemy going into square)

enemy already taken it on the chin, night will fall soon, and I will be able to set up for the real battle

wanted to wait for night fall, before climbing the hill, the fort is weak, but can still do damage

most of my night movement is done, will let the troops rest, they got a big morning coming up

overall, looks like a large, but weak Ossite Army I ran into, the other one, must have most of the real strength

, by morning, the score will be even, but I have hurt them already

my guns on the hill are exposed, but I got Cav coming up from behind

the other Guns, you see the main rule of the battle field, support your guns, never leave your guns unsupported, and every time my guns get over ran, I rewrite that rule in stone, until the next time I forget

Do not fight too much across night ... if it is similar like in CoG I, than your forces need rest ...

it is now morning, and it is going to be bloody, all troops are fresh and no smoke in the air yet, so almost every volly with do major damage with nothing to hamper it

finally my last gun is getting into place, I left 3 Inf behind to deal with the other VH (take all 3 and the enemy starts to panic, lowering there WTF) and here you see the supply wagons in action, well, action for a supply wagon)

First major issue of the day, I have to break those Inf beside the fort, didn't expect to see them there (thought they would be more north towars the other VHs) they can cause a lot of damage to my hilltop guns, Arty is good on level ground, not firing downhill)

From the hill you can fire where you want, but it is not so effective with losses ...

sorry when I am posting, I don't see the replies or questions showing up, yes, that is the screen, the enemy or player can not see what is behind the screen, and it causes some other issues

some of the upgrades you can get, are tactics for the screen, either making it tighter, or losser

yes, movement or fighting at night will tired you out, 90% of the time, your really just want to stand in place and rest up

I needed to cover my flank, so I am willing to risk some of my troops being tired, beside, I know I am not fighting a major/strong enemy force

if this was the main Russian Army, I would be much more careful in my movement

Roger, yes, the damage I do from the hill top with arty is not as good as it would be down on level ground, and the damage I take back, will be close to the same, so in the long run, it is not worth the damage I will take

I had been hopeing to do a quick pounding on the garrisons in the fort and then slip behind the fort and catch the enemy from behind or the flanks

and here is a new trick

it is called a reaction range

the unit can do different things when the reaction is set or triggered, the AI uses it pretty well too

and you may notice those red hexes, those are hexes you are threaten in, if you are in a threaten hex and fail a formation check, your unit will go disordered, in a normal hex, you will just fail your attempt

the enemy is close to breaking

yes, I could go after his wagons, but right now, I am wanting his Arty, and as many dead troops as I can get, I want this to be a short war, if I do it right, I got a nice pathway into Russia

and again, something new

when the enemy breaks (or you) there is no longer 3 turns of chasing, we have the Pursuit phase, sometimes it is nice, sometimes it is nasty, and it can hurt either way and both ways
