Hi everyone, I think I may know what is going on to the unit upgrade problem in scenarios, I may be just blowing smoke but here it goes...its a little confussing so bear with me. When running a custome made campaigne (its the only one I've tried so far) I was having trouble with units not being alowed to upgrade at the aloted times. When at the "support units" screen, check the "mission" icon, I'll bet anything it will tell you the date of the previous battle...it did for me. After posting a message on this forum I decided to just play through with the outdated units and see what happened. Sure enough the next battle showed the mission date for the past battle and I was allowed to upgrade my units...finally. I guess what I'm saying is that the date may be one mission behind. Could this be because the first mission is listed as "000"? I noticed that the first mission also does not count as "mission played" at the end for the tally. Perhaps a little wee bug? See if this works for you and let us know, I am currenly testing a redone campaign I'm working on, so far so good. Good luck troops,

I think it was 4.0 that the rebuild phase of a campaign was moved up so that it preceeds a battle, instead of following one. If the rebuild screen is 1 or 2 battles behind, then it would defeat the purpose of the change. My campaign started in 9/39, and I bought a few platoons of Pz IIIs for my corps. Now it's late 1940 and the Pz IIIs have completely dissappeared from my purchase/upgrade screen, even though I have several hundred points to spend. They must have been caught up in the Firstone tire recall!

Define "Custom Made" for me Surfer. Is this one you put together in generated campaigns or is this a custom made one that comes already done with the game? WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

WB: I think surfer and I are both trying to link scenarios together for a user campaign. The campaigns we were attempting cover a longer time span (several years) than the usual custom campaign. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the upgrade problem. In previous versions, for linked campaigns, there was a start and end dates box. And the campaigns seemed to pace themselves evenly over that time span, regardless of the time frame of the current scenario. In the current version (I'm still at 4.1), there are no start and end dates, but it is implied that the program reads the campaign date from whatever scenario is in the current node. Is this correct? In either event, the rebuild screen does not accurately reflect what should be available at the time. RD

Well put, RD, that is exactly what is going on. I have version 4.2, I figured if I just kept loading new versions, the problem would go away. If someone is making scenarios and linking them together with very close dates, they may not even notice the problem. I havent tested many of my campaign battles yet so I really dont know how widespread the problem is or under what different circumstances they occur but I will keep the forum posted.

The upgrade problem has been fixed in v.4.3, it was a class problem, any class after #85 wasn't available, it works now!! ------------------ Mike Amos Meine Ehre Heisst Treue
