I playing through my first game with a friend, so forgive me if this behaviour is correct. It struck me as a bit odd. We are running 1.23.

When the Ottoman Empire surrendered all my British forces in and around Constantinople were removed from the game.

During the impulse phase in Dec 1915 the British had 1IND Inf and 2IND Inf in Gallipoli (33% supply), Rawlinson with 1 HQ point in the hex between Gallopoli and Constantinople (100% supply) and the 5th, 6th, and 13th Inf in Constantinople (100% supply).

During the impulse phase there were no attacks. The only movement was the 2 Indian divisions moving into the same hex as Rawlinson.

The Ottoman Empire surrendered at the start of the Jan 1916 strategic phase. At that point all 5 of the British infantry divisions were removed, and Rawlinson was gone to be replaced by Munro (also with 1 HQ point).

There was also a British force in Mesopotamia, and a Russian forces in the Caucasus advancing up the open terrain along the southern Black Sea coast. Both of these forces were unaffected by the Ottoman surrender. All told there must have been about 15-20 British and Russian corps in the Ottoman Empire at the time of surrender and 4 HQ units.

I have the save game files as well as screenshots. However, I couldn't work out how to attach the screenshots to the post. If they would be useful and someone can tell me how to get them displayed in a post and I will repost.

Thanks.

Clearly I did work out how to attach screenshots!

Here is what it looked like after the OE surrender.

I will have to look up the particulars for Ottoman surrender but in general when a major power surrenders and territory is exchanged some units are removed for one year to provide a "garrison". The size of the garrison varies by country.

If the power's territory is not traversable after the surrender other units of the conquering side are removed to the nearest friendly hex.

Thanks for your fast response, Frank.

I guess what threw me was the fact that it was all of the units which were on the European side of the OE that were removed and none of the units on the Asian side. It set back my plans to move into Bulgaria a bit!

In such situations would there be any way that the garrisoning units which are removed could be taken more evenly from the all the allied units in a conquered country at the time of surrender?
