Thanks Chris,

I had forgotten about the green button. Just used it for "barker" as I did a long time ago for= "dumb oryx".
Problem is is, I still have to look at respnses to those two "sour grapes"!

I'm surprised at the lack of moderation in this forum (even though a moderator visits it frequently). Finding somebody annoying should not be an excuse for calling people "sods" and other personal attacks.

I do apologize to the other members for my little rant, but I was just rather sick of watching one member make repeated inflammatory posts all over this forum . There are threads where he has posted 4 and 5 times in succession without a single reply; just endless rants. Implied in this thread (post 25) is the fact the game was purchased from the most reliable of all sources, E-Bay. This does not mean he is not entitled to updates but if the game is already registered, then caveat emptor.

I have read many of the posts and most of the issues seem to be opinions as to how he sees the game should be which, as I read most of the posts here, seem to run counter to the majority opinion. As such, there is no valid complaint, IMHO. If you do not like a game's development or programming direction, why play it? The other issue seems to be Vista and according to one post he seems to dislike the fact he has to run as administrator and/or in compatibility mode. Why complain here when the issues are Microsoft/Vista related and are easily worked through. I gather he seems to think Jason should have reprogrammed Vista so the game just works without intervention else it is suddenly "incompatible with Vista". Last thought on the Vista issue, sometimes a user's configuration is at fault - as simple as a program installed and running in the background perhaps, one that seems innocent, could cause many problems. I have not seen posts where he is very forthcoming as to what the exact issue is, though I have read many touting his skills as a programmer/designer. I too have skills designing databases and other utility type programs for my employer but I would never assume to be an expert in game design, anything with Direct X, or many other programming chores.

I enjoy reading these forums and I use them to find a great deal of advice and mentoring as to game play issues I may have. I have many Matrix games and hope to have more (c'mon we need another blitz sale ). I just get tired of someone running roughshod over these forums and the dev teams. I applaud Jason for holding back as much as he has and I can understand the frustration behind simovitch's "sods" comment. I had even tried PM'ing Erik about the posts here and in the support forums hoping to head things off and I see he has asked for a response from barker in the general announcement thread after barker claimed he was going to the BBB.

Again, sorry to the other forum members

Modern English slang refers to a "sod" as more of a "git" or "jerk" than anything else. If someone was really offended by that I apologize. If they misinterpreted it to mean the 19th century derivative of "sodomite" I can't help that but say it wasn't my intention.

edit: Also, I'm not a member of the beta brigade. I'm just a poor sod who volunteered some time to fix a few bugs.

This is exactly how I interpreted "sod"; moderation wasn't necessary.

WOW...this stuff is better than the comedy channel..., and I hope no one took offense at that...sheesh...I know certain issues are a slight bit volitile....What ever happened to the fun? I am not speaking for anyone else...Bur I am here, (in the forum), for love of the game, nothing else...This was my favortie game back in the Talonsoft days, and for several years, I weished I could finf it again...Then Lo...and behold...it was ressurrected from the grave...something for which I was completely surprised, AND. I believe this would never have come about but for the dedication of a group of individuals who recognized the game for what it was back it the day. As soon as I discovered the game was back on the market, I gobbled this sh&^ up quicker than snot on a sheet metal roof in summer. (Pardon my redneck-speak), So...again...I repeate...what happened to the fun?

Sure....there are going to be issues...always are....geez.....lighten up....if one doesnt like the game for what it is, then tweak your own game and operate within the parameters given....if ya wanna mod your own files....do it...it you want to play other like-minded individuals, upon an aregeed set of rules...go for it....but...if ya have to have Jason, et al, encrypt those files...what the freak is the big deal?

Ok...Reality check here....Matrix Games currently holds the license to the game.....Not Jason...Not the beta brigade, Not the Legion...whine and complain all you want..it aint gonna change unitl Matrix decides to sell the license. I dont see that happening anytime soon. So what I am thinking is Matrix has the final say so...and what that tells me is live with it. Accept it...Own it. For those individuals who dont want 1.04....and want to play a different versdion...cool....go for it...but stop already...cuz if Matrix hasnt decided to change stuff by now...I am thinking they aint inclined to do so anytime soon.

I realized I just brought down a whole world of crap ohn myself...and I am sure I will be flamed for it...but it's MY OPINION...I repeate...an opinion...no one elses.

Thanks for your time guys.3

Tom

I am still laughing my butt off on the whole Aerospace thing. hopefully let you do anything too important, perhaps public relations??? I'm just kiddin with ya dude, what good would a forum be if everyone is happy. Just remember sir, there is a fine line between being constuctive and being a repetitive thorn in everyones side.
