think about the pilot bug... if you do not risk your good pilots now, they will vanish later on.
So, now (if you haven´t lost the timeing) they could shoot down something or sink his carriers. later on they will be replaced by 30exp-turkeys.

How many losses (both sides) do you have? All planes.
Also, how many pilots are in the pools? If more as 32.000 pilots are in the game, it will crash (say the pilot vanishing bug can occur).

Good to hear about GiliGili.

Is there any hope for reinforcing PortMoresby? He needs this base. Now you could trap some good troops
is he out of supply? Let him pay.
His super4mot-killingforce need only two times a warm welcome, the loss of 600 of em will give you the needed break.  He is known for risking a lot and he do not give up easily, say you could let him pay forever.

Sure - he could kill your experienced pilots or even your carrier - but reading the other AARs, i think japanese naval airforce will be impotent very fast. If you change 4-5 carriers against his actuall us carrierforce, you buy more than 440 days. His advance will be stopped for a long time and his way to tokio would be too long.

But i am only a reader of your thread. But i say " S T R I K E ". Even if he wants you to strike, it is a great chance

Hi,
so far 24600 planes was lost (including 5000 destroyed on ground). My pilot pools are empty and US situation is unknown to me. Most of my air groups have 2-3x more pilots then is its TOE.

I doubt he has supply problems in Port Moresby. I could reinforce PM by air easily, but before I will send more troops, I need to know, if the supply will flow from Lae.. And because the garrison seems strong enough to hold the base on its own for now, I have time to test it..
I would be happy to have another chance to hit his 4Es, but I have only Siador AF availible and it is lvl 4. It means I can operate max 200 planes and it is not enough to LRCAP some base AND defend Siador. I need time to gain control over Lae and repair it.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/02/43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1063
TF 1063 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

Allied ground losses:
101 casualties reported

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1119
TF 1119 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

15 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
AK Mormacrio, Shell hits 4

Allied ground losses:
62 casualties reported

I have send another sub to interdict the unloading:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Port Moresby  at 53,91

Japanese Ships
SS RO-61

Allied Ships
AK Ascella, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage

Nice hit. The transport was already empty, but maybe some suplies went down with the ship..

And unloading continues..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1063
TF 1063 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

Allied ground losses:
45 casualties reported

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1119
TF 1119 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

52 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
AK Mormacrio, Shell hits 2

Japanese ground losses:
11 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
186 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 1

I wasn´t the only who send the subs for hunting. One of my transports which delivered 30k supllies to Gili Gili was hit on its way back and is most probably doomed:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Fergusson Island  at 57,94

Japanese Ships
AK Tran Ninh, Shell hits 5, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Capelin

I´m surprised this ship is still afloat. I considered scuttling her, but I will not. With a bit of luck another US sub will spend another load of torps on her..

Now it was my turn again, but after a long time my "sharks" were unsuccesfull:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 52,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-171, hits 5

Allied Ships
CL Phoenix - torps missed
DD Pakenham
DD Grayson
DD Radford

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Port Moresby  at 53,91

Japanese Ships
SS RO-61, hits 2

Allied Ships
AK Idomeneus - torps missed
PG Vancouver
MSW Sheldrake
MSW Herald

And RO-61 is out of torps returning to Rabaul, while I-171 is damaged and also returning to Rabaul. I-172 will take its place. It migh get a good chance as I expect a huge mess in allied lines tommorrow ..

No chance for quick advance here:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Port Moresby

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 29025 troops, 270 guns, 9 vehicles, Assault Value = 698

Defending force 56315 troops, 261 guns, 144 vehicles, Assault Value = 727

Allied ground losses:
129 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 1

PjH will need more troops or weeks of rest and rally to have a chnace for some progress. I suppoese he will pour more troops in. He has no time..

Well, as I said I expect a bit of chaos in US shipping lines tommorrow. Why? Because I have secretly sneaked a surface raiding force of 4 CAs accompanied by 6 modern DDs into the range of US CV fleet and they are just about to strike:

I don´t expect to seriously hit his CVs, but I should crush the escorts, any maybe achieve 1-2 lucky hits on his CVs. I expect just a weak escort as he doesn´t have any idea I´m so close and he is using all his BBs in bombardment TFs while many CAs/CLs were damaged or sunk. It should make him a bit nervous and maybe retreat his fleet until the situation will be clear.
Also the KB is complete and will leave Rabaul. 1000 planes is ready to strike in 1-2 days!

I good day for Empire! I will add pictures when i get home..

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/03/43

Unloading still continues:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1063
TF 1063 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

Allied ground losses:
96 casualties reported

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1119
TF 1119 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

81 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
AK Mormacrio, Shell hits 9

Allied ground losses:
117 casualties reported

First on the place, in the middle of US fleet near Port Moresby, arrived I-172 which quickly find its first victim:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 52,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-172

Allied Ships
AP Moreton Bay, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
AGP Niagara
DD Helm
DD Foote

It was followed by my cruiser force, which arrived with surprise on its side. In the same moment when japanese TF spotted US fleet, it was altready tracked by US radar, but with so many friendly combat and transport TFs passing all around, it wasn´t enough to put allies on alert. Japanese cruisers quickly aproached and opened fire on surprised enemy with devastating results:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat at 52,91

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SOC-3 Seagull: 2 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CA Mogami, Shell hits 1,  on fire
CA Mikuma
CA Suzuya, Shell hits 3
CA Kumano, Shell hits 6,  on fire
DD Natsushio
DD Michishio
DD Arashio
DD Yamagumo
DD Minegumo
DD Asagumo

Allied Ships
CA Indianapolis, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage
CA Salt Lake City, Shell hits 21, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
CL Portland, Shell hits 2,  on fire
CL Perth, Shell hits 11, Torpedo hits 2, and is sunk
DD Stack, Shell hits 10, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DD Tucker, Shell hits 60, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Vampire, Shell hits 10, Torpedo hits 2, and is sunk

The first salvo of this battle was fired by CA Kumano and it fully hit the bridge of CA Salt Lake City killing all officers aboard. Loosing its commanders (CA Salt Lake City was probably the flagship) in the moment of surprising enemy attack caused the US fleet was in total disorder and their ships were crucified one after another. 1 CA, 1 CL and 3 DDs were sunk, while 1 CA was left in sinking condition. Japanese loses were none. Only CA Kumano was moderately damaged by some 8in hits. Destroying this US combat TF opened the way towards US CVEs and japanese captain decided to push the luck even more. And it paid off. Again the TF was tracked by US radar, but despite that the CVE TF was surprised when the japanese cruisers opened fire:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat at 52,91

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SOC-3 Seagull: 2 destroyed

Japanese Ships
CA Mogami,  on fire
CA Mikuma, Shell hits 5,  on fire
CA Suzuya, Shell hits 3,  on fire
CA Kumano, Shell hits 24, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DD Natsushio
DD Michishio
DD Arashio
DD Yamagumo
DD Minegumo
DD Asagumo

Allied Ships
CVE Sangamon, Shell hits 1
CVE Chenango, Shell hits 2
CL Phoenix, Shell hits 22, Torpedo hits 4, and is sunk
DD Radford, Shell hits 17,  on fire,  heavy damage
DD Grayson, Shell hits 12, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Pakenham

The screening force sacrificed themselves to protect 2 CVEs. Only a few 5in hits were achieved before CVEs disappeared and Japanese ships had to turn all their guns against US CL and 3 DDs. The battle didn´t take long as soon after it started CL Phoenix was crippled by several 8in hits quickly followed by 4 torps. Even this battle wouldf be clear japanese victory, but one of US DDs put a torpedo into already damaged Kumano. Bothe US DDs were shot to pieces, but Kumano is now in big troubles. There were some more TFs, but clever japanese captain decided it is right time to leave, leaving heavily damaged Kumano behind. Another CL and DD was sunk with one DD heavily damaged. It makes total of 1 CA, 2 CL and 4 DDs confirmed sunk with 1 CA and 1 DD heavily damaged and hopefully in sinking condition. This victory wasn´t for free as CA Kumano is heavily damaged and migh be lost, while all 3 remaining CAs suffer 20-30 sys damage. All 6 DDs are 100% OK.

Only single DD left to protect CVEs and it wasn´t enough. I-172 waited and striked:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 52,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-172, hits 5

Allied Ships
CVE Chenango, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DD Pakenham

GOOD! One torp won´t be enough to sink the ship, but with heavy damage it can´t perfom aerial operations and will spend a few months in drydocks.
I-172 is damaged, out of torps and is heading back to Rabaul..

It seems a fresh wave of US troops arrived:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1029
TF 1029 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

92 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
DD Tjerk Hiddes

Allied ground losses:
466 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1119
TF 1119 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

78 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
AK Horace Luckenbach, Shell hits 1
AK Mormacrio, Shell hits 14,  on fire,  heavy damage

Japanese ground losses:
20 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
77 casualties reported

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Port Moresby

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 29105 troops, 271 guns, 9 vehicles, Assault Value = 701

Defending force 59639 troops, 300 guns, 186 vehicles, Assault Value = 901

Allied ground losses:
27 casualties reported

Parts of 6 US divisons are now identified: 1st, 2nd Marine div, Americal div and 3x US divisons plus some tank regiments..

Chinese troops entered Ahmadabad:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Ahmadabad

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 3760 troops, 144 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1510

Defending force 85221 troops, 887 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2475

Allied ground losses:
316 casualties reported
Guns lost 10

2500AV and all of them are Chinese.. These are throwaway troops for PjH. Even if he would loose them, they would just jump out of the pit in 30days in Karachi. Ahmadabad will hold against this force, but I doubt I could kick them out. On the north his units are marching towards Lahore. 7th US div leads them..

This is the "western flank" of the attacking australian army:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at 17,90

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 41649 troops, 330 guns, 143 vehicles, Assault Value = 1089

Defending force 809 troops, 6 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 24

Allied max assault: 1902 - adjusted assault: 1968

Japanese max defense: 22 - adjusted defense: 1

Allied assault odds: 1968 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
492 casualties reported
Guns lost 5

Allied ground losses:
156 casualties reported
Guns lost 9
Vehicles lost 1

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

1000 AV is on the march towards Derby. They have no chance. 3 Japanese divisions + some additional units (tanks, SNLFs..), supported by IJAF will wait for them 120 miles SW from Derby and then will attack. Even stronger army is waiting on the crossroad south of Darwin..

And here are the promised pics:

Port Moresby

Here you can see the current situation in NG. KB will sail 5 hexes from PM, but the range will be limited to 4 hexes. If there will be some US CVs and my ships will react they should still attack transports in Port Moresby instead of corsair-CAPed CVs. Besides that I have send my air force back to Lae and I will try to hold it. I have considered to LRCAP it also from Siador, but decided not to. I have based also some bombers in Lae with limited range of 3 and set remaining bombers in Rabaul to naval attack again (9 hexes = Port Moresby) with the escort of 72 Ki-43-II. The idea is to weaken (and check) his defences today and finish him tommorrow.
When I send this turn to PjH he commented it that he has spotted my air force in Lae (including bombers) - I HATE THIS ISSUE!!! - and because he thinks that I have boosted its defences by LRCAP from Siador he has send whole his air force to attack Siador. He is wrong. Siador is still defended by 200 crack fighters on 80% CAP so I should be able to seriously attrit his 4E once more..

Australia

no comment.. these pics say it all..

India

Here is the situation really serious. I don´t think he can kick me out of Ahmadabad or hex SW from it, but I really fear his advance on the north. He has simply too many units. 7th US division followed by many other units (80k troops) advanced east and now are heading "somewhere". Either he will jump on the railroad or he can continue through wilderness. I´m sending 5th division (detached from my "panzer group") to "shadow" his forces via railroad towards Lahore. I can´t send much more as he still have 23 units waiting for any opening and I´m doing the same. This situation can easily turn into unbelievable chaos  I think he is going for Lahore. If that is right, 5th division will boost its defences and I think it will be strong enough to stop him. Then it will be just a matter of time until I cut him off somewhere.. 2 more divisions shoud arrive in about 30 days.. I need to hold..

Uh, i like this feature in WiTP very much. ... "CVs can be sunk only with ac, not ships".... fortunatly, AE team didn't find naval combat results wierd so folks will enjoy such results in Alied Edition

Anyway, great move Jumper! ...

I'm not sure that KB will be activated tomorrow, but who knows? Perhaps i get something wrong but why did you limit LAE ac on 3 hexes (Lae-PM=4 hexes?)

good luck. Bonsai!

Hi guys,

Pauk - yes, the inability to hit CVs in surface combat is strange. In my experience the only chance to sink CV in surface combat is to find some heavily damaged one or lacking proper sacrifial escort.. Otherwise they will flee after 1-2 rounds of combat.
I have limited Lae to 3 because I don´t want to fully strike at PM yet. I have 80% CAP and so I can not send so many planes to escort my bombers = Corsairs or P-38 would eat them alive again. I knew the game will show him I have bombers in Lae and so i expected him to send all availible fighters either against Lae or to LRCAP PM. Tommorrow they will be fatigued, many will be damaged, while mine will be fresh and angry.. Range of 3 is enough to cover the sea hex from which he sent waves of Corsairs against Lae last time and I want him to pay if he tries it again. Otherwise this day is dedicated to defence. I don´t really expect KB to react either. It was mainly done to prevent strike at 5 hexes and face huge coordination penalty.

EUBanana - Nica catch. I suppose it was damaged?

No - it was supporting an invasion of Trimcomalee that the RN was contesting, along with Ryujo, sticking to the transport TF.

Warspite engaged and hit Ryuho several times, enough for her to sink straight away, the other CVL took a single 15" hit - enough to disable her flight deck anyway - and she was sunk later on, by a bomber. Warspite didn't get the credit.

In the RNs favour was the fact it was monsoon season, so the CVs were unable to launch aircraft, and the fact that Warspite was probably the most experienced battleship in the Allied OOB at that time... I think surface ship experience matters a LOT.

Maybe too much. Even a green crewed battleship is still a battleship after all!

I think it might be the problem of TF. In transport TF all ships with guns are trying to defend the transport ships at all cost and it seems CVs are not excluded.. In CV TF all ships are trying to defend CVs while CVs are running away.. And I´m not sure if the the CVs can launch offensive missions if they are in transport TF either..

It wasn't in a transport TF - it was a CVTF that was set to follow a transport TF, so it had a CAP all the way to the port.

I sent in the battleship to contest the landing, I wasn't expecting to find a CVTF there.

Today US subs showed their teeth. AK, 2 PC and DD (most probably) was sunk while CA was missed. Not nice at all..

Despite the fact Siador was clauded (and all other AFs too) and my own mission was canceled, allies attacked without troubles. Or better to say there were no troubles caused by weather. Imperial Eagles caused them many troubles. At first arrived sweep from Thursday Is, but there were too few of them:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Siador , at 54,85

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 64
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 56
Ki-45 KAIb Nick x 12
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 9

Allied aircraft
Kittyhawk III x 5
P-38G Lightning x 24
F-5A Lightning x 1

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 3 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 4 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
Kittyhawk III: 5 destroyed
P-38G Lightning: 24 destroyed

Outnumbered by crack pilots they died till the last one.. Soon after arrived the main strike from cairns composed by nearly 400 4Es:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Siador , at 54,85

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 64
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 53
Ki-45 KAIb Nick x 12
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 5

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 117
PB4Y Liberator x 59
B-24D Liberator x 221

Japanese aircraft losses
J2M Jack: 12 destroyed, 40 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 12 destroyed, 29 damaged
Ki-45 KAIb Nick: 6 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 35 destroyed, 45 damaged
PB4Y Liberator: 15 destroyed, 21 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 65 destroyed, 82 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
99 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 23
Airbase supply hits 15
Runway hits 99

His heavies arrived without escort and faced still pretty strong CAP. After a long and bloody battle 115 of them was shot down immedietly and another 31! was so damaged that they crashed on their way home. It means another 146 4E bombers and 30 fighters was shot down today at a cost of 22 fighters lost in air to air combat (but only 10 pilots). Despite the heavy losses about 150 bombers made it through and they moderately damaged the airfield and torched another 36 planes on ground. While it is another japanese victory, Siador had to be abandoned, because only 40 fighters remained operational (100 planes was damaged).

All japanese airfields were clauded, so there were no other strikes. The bad news are that KB was revealed (by US subs) and I don´t know what I can expect tommorrow. So I have decided to pull KB back for one more day and release the air forces in Lae (range set to 4) to see what he had prepared for me and decide if I will go against it or not. Hopefully Lae or Rabaul will be operational to find out if there are 200 Corsairs waiting for me or not.. I will not go against 200 corsairs. I don´t beliveve I could break such CAP..

Seems like there´s not that bad of a chance to save CA Kumano. What port size is Gili Gili? Can you disband the ship there, bring in a HQ (increases port size by 2) and at least one AR. Then hope to bring down the flt damage to 30 or so and sprint for Rabaul. If you don´t have the port crowded with a lot of ships then you may not attract a huge bomber strike against the port.

I doubt that.. Gili Gili is only lvl 4. I could transport HQ by air, but it would take too long, while sending AR would be impossible because of many US subs operating in this area. Only a few is seen on the picture, but there is at least dozen of them. besides that he is reconing Gili Gili daily and as I have only 3-4 barges anchored there, he would certainly find out the "new big fish" is there. 4Es would have send Kumano down the following day.
I will rather take my chances and will head to Munda or Shortlands.

I would go to Rabault then. Shortlands is 11 hexes (or 10, depends on the way the AI will decide to take) while Rabaul is only one hex further.

I would like to go there too. But waters between Rabaul and Gili Gili are full of US subs and I´m 100% sure Kumano would be easy picking for them,, while I suppose Gili Gili - Shorlands route is safe..

Another bloody day..

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/05/43

Probably the last troops. Especially after today:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coastal Guns at Port Moresby, 53,91, firing at TF 1029
TF 1029 troops unloading over beach at Port Moresby, 53,91

79 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Allied Ships
DMS Lamberton, Shell hits 2,  on fire
DD Tjerk Hiddes
AP John Penn, Shell hits 2
AP William Ward Burrows, Shell hits 1

Allied ground losses:
150 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 2

The weather was nice all around and both sides launched many attacks. The day started with another bomber raids against Siador. At first arrived bomber group from Thursday Is:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Siador , at 54,85

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 4

Allied aircraft
Kittyhawk III x 17
Liberator VI x 21
F-5A Lightning x 4
B-25C Mitchell x 55
B-25J Mitchell x 18
PB4Y Liberator x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 3 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
Liberator VI: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
B-25C Mitchell: 2 damaged
B-25J Mitchell: 1 damaged
PB4Y Liberator: 1 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
54 casualties reported

Airbase hits 3
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 66

Only single chutai with 6 operational planes was left in Siador and they have no chance to achieve anything. The airfield was hit hard. Soon after the last bomber left the scene, new wave of 4Es from Australia arrived to finish what was started yesterday. Unfortunately for them, japanese fighters flying CAP over Lae despached strong group to cover poor Siador and they arrive just in time to ambush allied heavy bombers once more:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Siador , at 54,85

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 41

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 56
PB4Y Liberator x 31
B-24D Liberator x 103

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 4 destroyed, 33 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 9 destroyed, 21 damaged
PB4Y Liberator: 6 destroyed, 11 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 27 destroyed, 39 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
24 casualties reported

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 5
Runway hits 34

Another 65 4Es were shot down and many others fled from the battle. Only 40 bombers made it through and it wasn´t enough to "close the base". Siador remains operational and another victory was achieved..

Now it was my turn and Rabaul and Lae launched their strikes against US ships unloading at Port Moresby. There was strong CAP of P-38 and I hoped that bombers and elite fighters from Lae will arrive first to open the path. Lae is closer, so I didn´t expect anything else. I was wrong. Again. I don´t understand it. Again..
To my surprise the first one on the scene was a group of planes from Rabaul:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 26
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 32

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 89

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 22 destroyed
Ki-43-IIa Oscar: 20 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 30 damaged

Allied Ships
MSW Penguin

Why they arrived first? It was absolutely pointless massacre!!!

After bombers from Rabaul were shot down, the strike from Lae finally arrived:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 10
G4M1 Betty x 50
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 49
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 22
Ki-21 Sally x 28
Ki-49 Helen x 13

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 89

Japanese aircraft losses
J2M Jack: 5 destroyed
G4M1 Betty: 6 destroyed, 14 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 26 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 11 destroyed
Ki-21 Sally: 3 destroyed, 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 97 destroyed

Allied Ships
DMS Wasmuth, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DMS Lamberton, Bomb hits 7,  on fire,  heavy damage
AP John Penn
DD Downes
DMS Trevor, Bomb hits 1,  on fire
AP U.S. Grant
AP William P. Biddle
DD Tjerk Hiddes

Bloody battle with P-38G was a nice victory. Most of the allied fighters was shot down for a decent price and bombers finaly hit the unloading ships.

Afternoon my strikes were fragmented while the CAP was reinforced by new planes. Fortunatelly those new planes were nearly worthless and unable to stop even the smallest strikes:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 2
Ki-49 Helen x 5

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 40

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-49 Helen: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied Ships
AP Hugh L. Scott, Bomb hits 3,  on fire,  heavy damage

This was a small strike from Lae..

This one is from Rabaul:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 47
G4M2 Betty x 18
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 4

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 38

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 5 destroyed, 6 damaged
G4M2 Betty: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
Ki-43-IIa Oscar: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 2 destroyed, 10 damaged

Allied Ships
AK Silksworth, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage
AP Hugh L. Scott,  on fire,  heavy damage
AK Prusa
AK Murada, Torpedo hits 1,  heavy damage
AK Rhesus, Torpedo hits 1
PG Vancouver, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
AK Nisqually, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire
AK Idomeneus

And again the elite fighters from Lae arrive the last:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 11
G4M1 Betty x 21
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 49
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 19
Ki-21 Sally x 18
Ki-49 Helen x 11

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 23

Japanese aircraft losses
J2M Jack: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged
G4M1 Betty: 3 damaged
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 6 destroyed, 2 damaged
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 5 destroyed
Ki-21 Sally: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged
Ki-49 Helen: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 24 destroyed

Allied Ships
DD Downes, Bomb hits 1, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
AP U.S. Grant
AP John Penn, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DMS Wasmuth, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
AP William Ward Burrows, Bomb hits 2
DMS Trevor, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
DMS Lamberton, Bomb hits 4,  on fire,  heavy damage
DD Tjerk Hiddes

Last attack from Rabaul:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 13
G4M2 Betty x 3
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 47

Allied aircraft
P-38G Lightning x 9

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-43-IIa Oscar: 10 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-38G Lightning: 4 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied Ships
AK Idomeneus
AP Hugh L. Scott, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage
AK Prusa, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire
AK Rhesus, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage

All in all not a bad day. 3 AK, 2 DMS and PG went down immedeitly and a few more ships will follow. I have lost 150 planes but only 61 fighters in air to air combat (41 pilots). Ki-43-II are not included as they supposed to be shot down..

On the other side PjH lost 131 P-31G and 65 4E bombers what are pretty serious losses. So far allies lost 2703 4E bombers of all types and 1068 P-38G. I´m glad that first two allied types with the highest losses are P-38 and B-24D..

I´m now sending KB in and I wonder what I will meet tommorrow. Today KB was attacked by 2 subs, but both were sunk by surprisingly effective escort:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 59,91

Japanese Ships
DD Yamakaze
DD Wakaba
DD Nenohi
DD Hatsuharu
DD Murasame

Allied Ships
SS Seadragon, hits 4,  on fire,  heavy damage

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASW attack at 59,91

Japanese Ships
DD Mochizuki
DD Satsuki
DD Uzuki
DD Yayoi
DD Kisaragi

Allied Ships
SS Grunion, hits 2,  heavy damage

I hope PjH migh send his CVs against Lae..

I don´t know. The turn is in Steven´s mail box since August 14th, but no responce from him so far. Also all my other e-mails remains unanswered..

I hope he just left on vacation, forgot to leave a short note about that, and the game will continue soon. Otherwise I will have to find new oponent again if it will be possible at all..

I´m going to spend next week in Turkey myself, so if I will not get the turn till friday, I will be able to check my e-mails on September 7th at first.

Still no reaction from PjH..  I don´t know how long should I wait, before looking for another replacement player? One more week? I got no reaction from him since August 14th. One more week and it will be the whole month. I suppose if someone is not able to send a turn or answer the e-mail during the whole month, it is safe to think he is not interested in the game anymore (for whatever reason)..

The same thing happened to me a couple of times I wonder, is this so difficult to say "sorry its no longer fun, Id rather stop playing this game or I cant keep playing for now due to RL issues"? Its a sad thing some players prefer to leave without a word than speak frankly to their opponent.

Anyhow I hope you will be able to keep playing this game.

sorry to hear that, looks like we both lost the same opponent. At least it was over in one day in my case and I didn´t have to wait a month...

with the current situation for the Allied in your game it won´t be easy to find someone to take it over, it isn´t even easy to find one if you have a very good situation.

It isn't suprise for me. He was a troll, cheater and his insults weren't sanctioned by moderator. In fact, he was encouraged to continue with such actions. So there is no suprise why he vanished.

Jumper, i really sorry for your game. Your AAR was only reason for my visits here.

My first two PBEM's just stopped playing and communicating as well. And both were beating me up. I enjoyed your AAR and am sad to have seen it end. Incidentally, I did notice PJH online today. Perhaps the game will re-start? Good luck.

Hi guys,

thanks for comments and I´m glad you liked this AAR. As Khyberbill said PjH was online today, but I haven´t received anything so far.. Well, I will give him time to sunday and then I will ask one of my other oponents If they wouldn´t be interested in taking over this game.. I have three more campaign games running, where I´m allies, so they might be interested. Hopefully the game and AAR will continue soon..

Gentlemen,

after a whole month of no responce from PjH (while I saw he was logged in), I suppose he is not interested in this game anymore and he doesn´t bother himself to say it to me.. Therefore I have asked one of my other japanese oponents whether some of them wouldn´t be intersted in steping into allied shoes and fortunately it seems I have found a replacement player without any troubles He is now studying the game and if it will not scare him, we will discuss the house rules and the game will continue soon!

Banzai!

All right, here we go.. Joseph, my japanese oponent in our CHS campaign, agreed to take over this game so after the long break the game will go on. He was a bit surprised about certain points, like having some bases without supplies, fatigued and demoralized air groups, unprepared LCUs or so many PTs at one base, but accept it as new interesting challenge.

I have offered him following house rules:

1. 4E bombers on min 15k ft
2. B-29 can not be used on naval attack
3. Airfield stacking limit. Till the lvl 4 (including) max 50xAF size is allowed (+/- 20) . It means AF1=50 planes, AF2=100 planes etc.. Float planes are not counted in this limit, so on AF lvl1 you may have 50 planes and whatever amount of float planes. There is no limit for AF lvl5 and higher.
4. max 12 PTs per base. Max 6 PT boats in one TF and max 2 PT boats TF per base. So your maximum is to 2x6 PT per base. They can be build only in lvl6 port and higher.
5. No non base landings (dots are considered as bases)
6. No sub invasions or "throwing small units of paras all around". 1 para unit has to be used to only 1 target and can not attack any other target unless it is complete again.

7. Chinese units - well this is a "gray" zone. Before the Chunkig fell, my first oponent changed the commands for many units (nearly for free as he has chosen the most exhausted ones). He has spent more then 5000 PPs on it. And he has changed also the China Command HQ to SEAC what means that after 30 days ALL chinese units appeared in Karachi no matter of their area commmand HQ (I wasn´t happy with it at all). He has experimented with other area HQs too, so you can find Chinese Corpses in Australia (under Australia command), WC (under NORPAC. CENTPAC and SOPAC HQ and USSR (under Russia HQ). This was ment as an experiment to see where and if this units will reappear, so we have agreed that Chinese units in Australia will not leave southern Australia (it will free other units from garrison duty as a benefit). Also Chinese units under SOPAC, CENTPAC and NORPAC can be used only for rear garrison duty or for the attack in Northern area (Kuriles etc..). Chinese in Russia are without any limits. They are limited geographicaly and no rule is necessary IMO.
And here we get to the chinese soldiers in India. I don´t know exactly how many of them is there, but as my oponent stated it is "a lot" and from what I have seen he hasn´t been pulling my leg. We had a HR that these units can be used to reconquer India and Burma, but from Burma they have to be used either for attack on china or for garrison duty in India/Burma. For all these units is aplied another HR, that once they will leave Karachi, their replacement has to be turned OFF until at least 1 chinese base is reconquered.
8. USSR cease fire conditions:
1) Immediate cease fire
2) Truce will end at 8/44 or when a soviet base has been liberated by another allied nation
3) All non USSR air forces have to leave or be grounded until they can leave. USSR air force will not be supported by foreign air powers till the end of the war.
4) Japanese Army will abandon the siege of Irkutsk and will fall back to Ulan Ude
5)Current japanese units in USSR/Manchukuo/China can leave this region only if HQ is changed.

I think these are easy to remember and follow and cover the most painfull parts of the game. Hopefully he will agree or only minor chnages will be required. And last but least - the turn is back in my box!  I look forward to get home and continue..

Stay tuned, the war goes on!

3rd allied supreme commander takes its place in the middle of the fight for Port Moresby. From the monitored allied transmissions, we can hear the new commander is less the happy with current situation and will work hard to change it..

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/06/43

Allied Ships
SS Peto, hits 1

The day found whole KB on its place exactly as desired, but unfortunatelly US CVs were not anywhere near. What was good, that our recon planes reported only VERY weak cap over Port Moresby and many ships nearby. KB will have field day..

But at first arrived allied bombers from Australian coast and from Thursday Is:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lae is nearly 100% operational again as this attack was repelled with heavy losses to attackers. And now is the IJAF turn. As first ones arrives bombers from Rabaul:

Then bombers from Lae, during the both day phases, attack retreating invasion TFs between Port Moresby and Thursday Is:

Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 4
Ki-21 Sally x 6

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
DMS Trevor,  heavy damage
AK Prusa, Bomb hits 4,  on fire,  heavy damage

Nothing decisive, but 2 LST, 5 LCT, 3AK and 1AP was sunk today, which is fine. Pity they are already empty.. It could be much more better if the KB have attacked!!! Nice weather, enemy ships in range, 1000 crack planes aboard with right orders, no oposition.. And NOTHING! I´m moving KB towards Dobodura now. Maybe what seems as 4 hexes on the map, are not 4 hexes in the real..

Well, anyway I don´t expect any allied ships near Port Moresby tommorrow. It seems that PjH was able to cover them only by ignoring our house rule about stacking limits in Thursday Is. Joe is now making neccessary correction, but it means allied potential in this area will be significantly limited now. KB will then retreat to Rabaul t rearm a few more air groups to A6M5 and to refuel.

And CA Kumano is now sys 51, flt 52 and 2 days from Munda (port lvl 5 with 1 AR). Now I think I might save it!

Joe launched the probing attack at port Moresby to see what he is facing:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Port Moresby

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 53116 troops, 335 guns, 204 vehicles, Assault Value = 1030

Defending force 38373 troops, 340 guns, 9 vehicles, Assault Value = 708

Allied max assault: 917 - adjusted assault: 409

Japanese max defense: 705 - adjusted defense: 4491

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 9)

Japanese ground losses:
656 casualties reported
Guns lost 15

Allied ground losses:
750 casualties reported
Guns lost 22
Vehicles lost 3

Nice adjusted defense value, but I now have only 25k supplies left there. I will clear the path from Lae and will see if the supplies will flow there..

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/07/43

2 days ago my recon planes spotted some TF near Baker Island, which they identified as 3 AKs. The raiding force, ready in Tarawa, immedietly sortied just to find out, how wrong the recon report was:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Baker Island at 94,92

Japanese Ships
CL Tenryu
DD Tsuga
DD Hayabusa, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
DD Hato
DD Kari
DD Kiji

Allied Ships
PT PT-367
PT PT-372, Shell hits 23, and is sunk
PT PT-373
PT PT-374
PT PT-375
PT PT-376

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Baker Island at 94,92

Japanese Ships
CL Tenryu
DD Tsuga
DD Hayabusa, Shell hits 21, and is sunk
DD Hato
DD Kari, Shell hits 9
DD Kiji

Allied Ships
PT PT-323
PT PT-324
PT PT-325
PT PT-364, Shell hits 3, and is sunk
PT PT-365
PT PT-366

Instead of transport ships, 2 TF of PTs were engaged. 2 PTs were sunk at the cost of old DD. The whole raiding TF is made of old and sacrificial units, but still I don´t like loosing DDs against PTs.. At least there was only 12 of them in 2 TF exactly according the HRs, which is very refreshing.

My patrol sub near PM engaged one of the retreating LCT and used it as training target for all it weapon systems:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 52,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-15

Allied Ships
LCT LCT-466, Shell hits 1, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Tell me about overkill..

During the day my badly damaged airfields on New Guinea finally get the break from allied bomber raids. It is the most welcomed, but also it makes me a bit nervous, because instead of them, the Timoeka garrison was targeted:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on 30th/C Division, at 45,81

Allied aircraft
B-25J Mitchell x 21

No Allied losses

Japanese ground losses:
62 casualties reported
Guns lost 3

Only a small force, but does it mean, that Joe will attack here? After the base was reconquered, I have repositioned the whole navy to Solomons, which means I would be badly out of position in such case. LBA would have to fight alone at least for a week. It should be doable. Especially when the allied shipping near Port Moresby was hit hard today. KB finally strikes!

At first damaged AK was finished:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF at 52,90

Japanese aircraft
Ki-49 Helen x 7

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
AK Idomeneus, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage

Then came the KB strike :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M3 Zero x 27
A6M5 Zeke x 47
D3A Val x 99
D4Y Judy x 21
A6M3a Zero x 90
B5N Kate x 120

Allied aircraft
P-40N Warhawk x 16
P-38G Lightning x 7

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M3 Zero: 1 destroyed
A6M5 Zeke: 3 destroyed
D3A Val: 1 damaged
A6M3a Zero: 2 destroyed
B5N Kate: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-40N Warhawk: 23 destroyed
P-38G Lightning: 12 destroyed

Allied Ships
LCT LCT-367, Bomb hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-142, Bomb hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-368, Bomb hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-136, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-67, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-363, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
LST LST-340, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-370, Bomb hits 6, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-140, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-64, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-372, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-62, Torpedo hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
MSW Tanager, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-66, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-148, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-366, Bomb hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-375
LCT LCT-135
LCT LCT-374, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-145, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-362, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LST LST-17, Bomb hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-371, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-147, Bomb hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
MSW Champion, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage

Only a handfull of allied fighters tried to protect the ships and they were easily overwhelmed by japanese escort. At a very low cost (6:35 in A-A) all bombers made it through and crucified the invasion TF consisting mainly from landing crafts.

And more strikes were coming from Lae and Rabaul:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 6
G4M1 Betty x 11
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 18
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 7
Ki-21 Sally x 3
Ki-49 Helen x 11

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 2 damaged

Allied Ships
LCT LCT-135, Bomb hits 3, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-376
LCT LCT-134

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 36
G4M2 Betty x 29
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 37

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M2 Betty: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
LCT LCT-145, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LST LST-340, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-144, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-375, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-134, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
MSW Tanager, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LST LST-17, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-143

A succesfull day so far. Joe can easily replace those lost ships, but the "KB show" should scare him a bit. And the afternoon strike was even better:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Port Moresby at 53,91

Japanese aircraft
A6M3 Zero x 35
A6M5 Zeke x 30
D3A Val x 219
D4Y Judy x 41
A6M3a Zero x 92
B5N Kate x 246
B6N Jill x 31

Allied aircraft
P-40N Warhawk x 4
P-38G Lightning x 1

Japanese aircraft losses
D3A Val: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-40N Warhawk: 1 destroyed
P-38G Lightning: 2 destroyed

Allied Ships
LCT LCT-135, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-373, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LST LST-19, Bomb hits 2, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-376, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
LCT LCT-143, Bomb hits 4, on fire, heavy damage

260 DB and 277 TB escorted by 152 fighters makes total of 694 planes launched. With about 300 fighters dedicated to CAP, it means that was the full strike the KB is capable of. Pity there was no more targets in this TF because 99% of this strike was "unable to locate.."

I doubt I will find some more ships near PM in following days, so KB is now heading back to Rabaul to refuel and rearm. Or will TRY to refuel, because I have found I´m bit on dry in this area. I had more then 200k fuel between Rabaul and Truk two weeks ago, but I have only about 15k now Operating KB in one area longer then 2 weeks is very expensive in a meaning of burned fuel. Some TKs are already on the way, but much much more is neccessary."

In India I still hold the line, but decided to be more active. Main allied army is (or was) moving towards Lahore and their supply path is guarded only by very weak Chinese cavalry corps (probably only at 30% strengh). I have despatched 3 tank regiments to cut them off. I expect Joe will then try attack along the whole line, so I hope to hold on. In 2-3 week two fresh division will arrive.

Joe send his bombers against Bombay, which now closed again:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on Bombay , at 20,10

Japanese aircraft
J2M Jack x 3

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 2
Catalina I x 4
Wellington III x 37
Liberator VI x 26
B-25J Mitchell x 15
B-24D Liberator x 13

Japanese aircraft losses
J2M Jack: 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina: 1 damaged
Catalina I: 1 damaged
Wellington III: 2 destroyed, 3 damaged
Liberator VI: 2 damaged
B-25J Mitchell: 1 damaged
B-24D Liberator: 1 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
197 casualties reported
Guns lost 9

Airbase hits 11
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 25

I would prefere to have it open, but it is better when he uses his air force here, then as a support of his advancing army..

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 09/08/43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Air attack on Ahmadabad , at 24,8

Japanese aircraft
Ki-45 KAIa Nick x 15

Allied aircraft
Beaufighter VIC x 5

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-45 KAIa Nick: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
Beaufighter VIC: 1 destroyed

Japanese ground losses:
10 casualties reported

Runway hits 1

WOW! My 90xp fighters shot down another night bomber finally. Such raids are coming daily, but so far I have shot down 6 planes (in the last 2 months).

I got lucky here:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 57,91

Japanese Ships
CVL Shoho - torpedo miss
DD Wakaba
DD Nenohi
DD Hatsuharu
DD Yamakaze
DD Murasame

Allied Ships
SS Searaven

KB is one day from Rabaul and all is quite. Joe is repositioning his forces, 90% of PTs is disbanded, many overstacked airfields are now within a limit. Our Air forces are licking theit wounds. Lae is fully operational with more then 500 planes. Next important base is Rabaul, where are based my Betties and their long range escort of Ki-43-II. And finally the badly damaged CA Kumano is succesfully pumping out the water and will be saved!

In India all my TK rgts arrived and will attack tommorrow. Recon says their oposition will not be Chinese cavalry corps (which moved eastwards), but some Burma brigade. IJA bombers will support the attack. If I can drive them away, then his supply path is cut off. It is funny that he has the same idea, as today one unidentified unit arrived east of Ahmadabad. Fortunately I have 28th Army with 3 divisions there so they will kick these raiders away..
