Certainly.

Lawrence Welk was a big band leader who, despite the fact big band music went out of favor in the 1940s, had a television program that was on every Saturday night and which aired well into the 1970s. For those of us who had parents or grandparents who loved big band music, the Lawrence Welk Show was a must see. For those of us cutting our teeth on the Beatles, it was the absolute longest hour of the week -- even longer than the hour in church. Every moment was an eternity.

Lawrence Welk had a big band, but I'm not sure his music would qualify as big band music. It was very tame stuff.

After some beauty or some beau would sing some really lame song, the audience, which always consisted of a bunch of white-haired folks who looked like they could topple over at any moment, would applaud politely, and Lawrence Welk would comment, "Wunnerfull, wunnerfull, wunnderfull!" Even Lawrence Welk looked like he was about to fall asleep as he mumbled these words of approval.

Arctic Blast, I'm surprised you haven't been the subject of a video sooner. Your moniker is a reference to your fun-loving nature in the far north, isn't it?

Okay, here's my contribution to the Arctic Blast selection:

LOL. Boy, do I remember him. I had a great aunt from Wisconsin who came to visit my family in California. I was about 10 and she was about 180. She loved Lawrence Welk and wanted all of us to watch it with her. Talk about child abuse!

cw58 -- Having to stay in the room, to sit quietly (so everyone could hear), and to watch the show was part the routine.  It didn't matter if it was the parent or the grandparent, you simply had to sit there with them while they enjoyed the show.  Neither my siblings nor I ever found a howl or scream of defiance that worked, and indirect methods, such as a feigned need to go to the bathroom, did not work either.  The Lennon (or Lemon?) Sisters were always supposedly a real treat.

I guess Lawrence Welk was the Beatles or the Jimi Hendrix of our parents and grandparents.

In the early 1960s, the Lemon sisters (three young beauties) were regulars on the Lawrence Welk Show. They'd sing sweet harmonies. They had the bee-hive hairdoes you'd expect from the sixties. By the mid to late 1960s, they appeared only rarely. I think they basically gave up their carreers to have families, because frequently one of them would be bouncing a baby on her lap. I think Lawrence Welk was too sly to actually hold the baby for fear of getting burped up on. But if they were scheduled to appear during the next week, Lawrence Welk would promote that to the max. And at home, it would be all the buzz during the week. Personnally, I didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

Here you go:

There were four Lennon Sisters. Their pictures appear in the upper left. They started out apparently as young teenagers and by the end they were, well, no longer youthful teenagers. I think there's even some music clips to wow you with.

Sometimes we jump to conclusions. Other times we just sing the blues.
Here is one that pits Matrix versus Vista and ends up being a personal hardware issue:

I was relieved to hear Barker got his problem solved.  In a way, his was a great endorsement of the game.  He could have chucked it anytime -- and threatened to several times -- but he stuck it out until he got the game to run on his system.  He wanted this game to run, hell or high water, and he wasn't backing down until it did.  That took a lot of perseverance on his part, especially after all the ribbing we've given him.

Thanks Frank....I do love this game, it is just plain interesting that the fact you read a book a particular battle on any front and recreate it and see what the disposition of troops were, modify morale to reflect lack of support etc. and the what if of the whole thing. I was sparked in the old guard of talonsoft by Adrennes, Battleground series, then came the civil war then other talonsoft titles. Then they went belly up. I was an avid net hound for any scenarios, any updates. I was hungry for more. This was lost until the matrix version came out. Then that passion rose again. I can again tinker with history and see what if. That is why....then my boys got into it and hell my wife wanted to see what all the hub bub was about. So there is a family hooked on war games. I just can't let that type of support go away

It took some courage and integrity to admit the problem was in the video card,  just the same, there seems to be a comedic element to exploit:

I hope you're enjoyting the game.  I'm glad you can see the humor in the videos.

I remember being handed a chainsaw and being told to go cut up some trees.  As an afterthought, I was warned that if the chainsaw hit a knot in the tree, the chainsaw would bounce straight back violently, and if it bounced back into my face, it might hurt.

True enough.  I can picture Jason (of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" fame) telling his protege, "Be careful when you carve up Frank's face.  If you hit a pimple, that chainsaw is likely to kick back violently, and you might get hurt."
