I'm somewhat confused as to how to conduct a proper TMA. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Real TMA is hard; I do two things for a 'simplified TMA':

1. When I have a ESM or Passive sonar track on a surface unit/group then I draw a linear nav-zone on the screen to indicate the direction, then do a sprint to change the angle and get another bearing line. This usually indicates the location. Sometimes I do this based on new air-contact (for example a helo that just took off with radar on) that tells me where ships might be.

2. When I do get a precise fix on a ship I place a Ref-point and using CTRL-F7 rename it with the course, speed and time of the contact. That helps me hours later still to do an OK intercept.

Freek

Hi, can you do MANUAL TMA in H3?
I thought that TMA was automatic...

TMA solutions are calculated automatically by the AI in both H3 and ANW. The player can assist the AI by changing speed, course, and depth so that the angles and cross-fix data to the target are more dramatic and, therefore, more helpful to the computer.

The game really doesn't generate sufficient data for a player to handle his own manual TMA. If you really enjoy calculating TMA solutions, the game for you is Dangerous Waters. It is simply superb in simulating this challenging endeavour.

I really liked TMA handling in Dangerous Waters. But then again in ANW your commanding fleets, not one platform.
