Are transport TF's made the same way as in WitP, ie make one transport TF per unit and then combine them all or can i make one big transport TF and then load up as many troops as the load allowance allows?

OK today counts as both a good and bad day.

12 days after the Japanese first landed 9th Indian Div finished concentrating at Temuloh.

and 11th Indian Div moved out of Taiping heading for Kuala Lumper a little bit wiser but undefeated unfortunatley the Punjabis and Malaya Planters were a little slow and some japanese tanks.......

Well lets just say its almost time to keep on running South.

BTW is this giving folks what they want to see ? Trying to be a little more open and show what the AI does and a little insight into changes in land combat ?

With FOW turned off, I expect these are the real losses.
How come the G3M2 Nell unit didn't abort it's attack after > 50% losses from enemy Cap?

Why is the AI flying air attacks at/near a major enemy airbase without escorts?

The first Convoy with much needed equipment arrives at Capetown these devices will be added to the pool in two days

In a normal game I would not waste them in Malaya.....

But this is only a test game so what the hell if the Japanese give me a few days this equipment will help to flesh out III Corps !!!

Also 18th British Div is almost at Singapore....

BTW is this giving folks what they want to see ? Trying to be a little more open and show what the AI does and a little insight into changes in land combat ?

The WS.14 Convoy is a very interesting shot. How do those work?

I assume that you can't just switch "Replacements On" anymore, and have units automatically reinforce as long as there is supply. Looks like you have to actually get those replacements there.

If so, how does that work? The Screen Shot indicates 30 merchies, is that what you need to life that stuff, or are those somehow embedded?

Great AAR BTW!

WS.14 Convoy/Coastal Defense unit?  I think I understand the convoy but, don't understand the coastal defense/convoy combo unit?

Withdraw in 2 days - the convoy will unload and leave in 2 days?

Can I allocate where specific devices (such as bren sections) go to which units?
How else would one prevent all bren sections going to one unit once replacements are turned on?

OK Convoys

I get so used to them I forget they may look a little odd

The way convoys work is that for each Merchant Ship - 6,000 supply and for each Tanker 18,000 fuel is dumped onto the base they arrive at (typically these are either Capetown or Aden after the Med opens)

This supply still needs to be shipped forward by on map merchant ships.

Some but not all convoy units also provide devices, several of the early convoys do have devices as these indicate diversions and drafts from other theatres to try and make good shortfalls.

Each convoy after it arrives is present on map for 3 days att he end of the 3rd day it disbands and any devices are sent to the pool where they may be allocated as normal to any unit that can take them.

The player can only set replacements on or off i.e. a player has as much - or as little control as stock as to which units get the new kit.

Seperately from these injections there are replacement rates for most equipment but for certain key CW equipment types these are minimal and the convoys provide most of the devices.

Why are they CD units well because we could not igure out how to add a new unit type and CD units were the least used elsewhere so as a fudge thats what we use for them - as they only arrive at off map bases which Japan cannot get near anyway its not a huge issue.

p.s. Convoys are not every month or the same size in the build up to El Alamein, Husky, Overlord etc convoys get more infrequent and provide less additional goodies.

Supplies are going to be an issue for the CW and supplying Australia from the US far more important.

Andy is also using the old land unit icon set.  The new set has a convoy icon for the convoy LCU type, though the picture is still the same as a CD unit.

Hi, I know you are a land guy - but could you also show some of naval action? Screenshot of naval forces in Singapore port? Or you already eacuated them?

And what are those icons on last screenshot? First from the left (with anchor) and fourth from left (with waves)?

At work so not 100% sure but I think

Waves is the Simonstown Naval Base (A fortress basically)
The Anchor is the so called Convoy Command Naval HQ - it's a naval HQ that all off map convoys are assigned to it makes it easier to sort them on the reinforcement list.

I have pretty much ignored navy (apart from the reinforcing convoys) in this AAR so I think all the ships are still in port.

Equally the AI has not tried any deep strikes at my rear so no real need to respond.
