gary's still making stadiums
rhino is beginning to do stadiums (one or two done already)
redwoldf is still making uniforms
JD has just said he will finish the editor (but patients will be a must)
MBSports and the VCFL are alive and kicking

and I'm sure I've missed some people aswell...................... oh yes........ YOU with simmer's NCAA Project

so we are hardly abandoned Man

I don't question how many people there are utilizing the game - I'm thrilled with the developments I've seen and I'd like nothing more then to get more people involved in my leagues be it with CFL, CIS, NCAA BCS, NCAA FCS, or NFL or some wacky thing I haven't even considered yet.  What I get out of the simulation isn't tied to the development of it but to the groups that I can bring the fruits of that labor out to.

Maybe if we use this idea we could get rid of the glitches, improve the graphics, player models, etc  http://football-freaks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25886&st=0&#entry221041

At some point, Maximum Football 2.0 had to be locked down and left to its own devices.  We all knew that.

In fact, we needed that to move on with leagues, play creation, and other areas that needed the files to be set and not in transition.  Maximum Football 2.0 is now in its final release form like Madden 2008 was many months ago.

It would be nice to have David pop in from time to time to answer questions, and have any stats bugs or similar things squashed, but that is not how it looks things will be for this release.

Going forward, it would be great if the game could be modded in the player model and animations departments.  Many FPS games are really helped by this.  I suspect the community would need a little help from David to do that, as the graphics engine used doesn't have the kinds of tools that the FPS games have in their engines.

It's kind of a shame that David just seems to have abandoned the whole thing and doesn't even drop by to answer questions or provide any type of support.

Madden has a bigger audience

They cater to multiple platforms

PC games in general are slowly fading away plus EA has more advertising power.

Just for the record, I came back a couple months ago so I guess +1 on the count.  I was able to get Max Football version 1 working but couldn't get 2.0 running on Windows 98.  I plan and could release some utilites for 1.0 users, but I bet there are very few people that use 1.0.  I plan to make some of my own Uniforms too so I guess I could help in that department at least.

I think people got it right on why there are so few people on this board.  EA sports really is a Giant in the sports gaming world, and there isn't as much focus anymore on PC games as Console games are much easier to deal with in the development side of games.  I think the point with Maximum-Football and most Matrix Games is that the games here are like comparing a Big Corporation too small hometown buisnesses in an industry.

way too low. 15 are perhaps the active forum members but much more are still playing the game and then many more have it on the HD. The number of active (= playing at least sometimes) player i guess is around 50. It would be intersting to have a counter statistic from FBMax.

I get on average around 50 individual IP's a day on my website
sometimes a few less, sometimes a few more

so I guess thats a pretty good guide
I used to get between 90 - 160 before the final release was announced

I was thinking of doing the same sort of thing due to my issues getting v2.0 to run faster on my laptop, maybe recommending some mods / plays that provide good results in version 1. I still prefer to play 2.0 also, but with the right playbooks, 1.0 can also be fun to play, especially for those with Win98 or PCs that struggle with the graphical bells and whistles of 2.0.

Shaggyra runs FBMax, but he's only poked his head in occasionally. I don't know his story beyond that.
