Status: offline 		Hello. I just downloaded this. I get the game menu but when clicking on either classic CCIV or CCWAR (the new game) I get a black screen with what appears to be the software mouse pointer, on what appears to be a windowed setup (the mouse pointer stops at the edges of what would look like, say, a 1024x768 screen).

I'm running

Status: offline 		Thanks.  I just tried that and it said I do have that CODEC. 

I tried the CTRL - hold option at start to turn off videos.  Still same result.  Any other ideas?

The latest DirectX version is 9.24.1400 released on 8/18/2008....

Status: offline 		One thing that I noticed when I first entered the game is that in the options, the videos seem to be disabled by default. So I wouldn't think we'd be seeing any of those codec problems initially. dfritschie, did you install the patch yet? Also, have you tried a reboot?

Status: offline 		I've got the 9.24.1400 DirectX.

I did also notice that videos start out disabled. 

When I enabled them, I got the sound for the Matrix Games splash screen (the click click click click one that is at the start of Matrix games like WITP, etc.).  However, I still get the black screen with the software (in game mouse pointer).

Keep the suggestions coming because I'm more than happy to keep trying.

Status: offline 		Are you in SLI mode? Try it with SLI disabled.  Or if you are running with 2 monitors try it with only 1 enabled.

Status: offline 		For Windows XP you didn't state what if any service pack you have installed?

I have XP with SP3. Same DirectX and Nvidia driver version (though I have a single 8600GTS).

With videos disabled by default the codec and media player should not be used.

Erik, it happens both using the game menu and the Quick Start shortcut.

Status: offline 		I just tried something really quick that may work:  I had the "global setting" for my video card to force antialiasing.  I turned that to "application controlled" and I haven't played yet because I have to get to work this morning.  However, I bet it will because I saw the Matrix opening.

I'll try it more tonight and re-post.  I'm not sure why that would happen for the videos on this one but not on the other Matrix games but if it works, I'll let you know.

Status: offline 		Sounds like some kind of conflict between the driver and Windows Media Player, not sure what would cause or resolve that other than trying a clean uninstall of driver and reinstalling a different driver version. Status: offline 		Purchased the game today and ran across this very problem. By changing the setting in the nvidia control panel to "antialiasing - application controlled" (as per dfritschie's post above) I was able to start the game up fine.

Just wanted to mention it in case someone else had the same problem.

I've got the same problem after install WaR, black screen and when i click at random on my screen, i hear the click command but nothing it happen after, and when i leave the game, i see breefly the screen board of WaR, thats all! Same problem with 1024x768 or 1280x960, frequence of refresh 85Hertz,

I've Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3Ghz, P5k motherboard, XPHome2002 SPack 3, Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTwith drivers 180.48, direct X9.0c 4.09.0000.0904


Houurrra guys, i have just found the solution of the problem. Go in the configuration panel and to adjust the parameters of images with outline and and click the case "let the application 3D make the decision", and too in "Manage the 3D", i've parameters anti aliasing= 8Q, Filtering anisotropique=8x, Mode of performance of several displays with only graphic processor, mode anti aliasigne=controlled by the application, Filtering of texture=high quality,Synchronization verticale=utiliser the parameter of the 3D application,Weft prérendue maximum=2,Triple stake in memory tampon=activée, and all works with résolution 1280x960=85Hertz

Long life with Close combat, i play it since 1998 and i never grow tired of it, he allows me to destresser by bringing in some work (except my wife )
