Here comes some close-up movies starting at the north sector: [ if it weren't for the excellent Soviet arty suppport the Finns and Germans would have succeded in pushing further south and east. ]

German Panzers have arrived at Odessa. Romanian forces are still clearing the riverbanks of Soviet units. There's a battle just to the northwest of Odessa as the Germans and Romanians are trying to open a supply line toward Odessa.

I've lost 6896 HRS's in 8 turns which works out to about 862 HRS's per turn. Adding a +428 to a -862 gives -434 which means I have enough HRS's to last about another 10 turns. After that I expect my Army will begin to lose strength in the units deployed.

So far production of aircraft is ahead of loss rates but that will not last long as soon as more Soviet aircraft are deployed to the field.

I still don't understand how larry makes his one long losses report.  Mine takes up 10 screens.  Anyway, here's Soviet losses as of Turn 8.

I was as surprised as I'm pretty sure Curt was to see this announcement. I thought Kiev was the huge battery unit on the river and evidently it's not. So there was no storming in the face of arty to grab the city industry. Cool. I'm pretty sure that's not what Curt is thinking. Or maybe he thought it was undefensible and deliberately left it open for grabs. Maybe we should ask him about Kiev sometime.

It was a calculated risk.  With the troops I had available I could have held maybe a couple more weeks.  Then I would have had to deal with a huge gaping hole.

I couldn't find a house rule that said Slavak units couldn't enter Latvia ( although there IS a house rule that says they can't enter Finnland ) so I have parked them temp. in Riga.

I blew a hole in the Soviet lines to the eastnortheast of Minsk but Curt will probably seal it up again.
