65k food!
How get it FAQ:
August 1914 strategic phase, Britain sends all food to Russia (a bug in itself).
Inspect another country.
back to Britain, open transfer screen again, click ok
voila, 65k food.
Works for raw materials too.
Germany must wait till second turn, when it has transport capacity, to perform this magic.

Its important to note that on the first turn Germany does not control the North and Baltic Seas so there's no reason for trade between Russia and Britain to not be allowed. The transfer screen does not try to guess whether Germany will control those seas in the coming turn or whether or not sufficient transports will be made available.

As for the 65k food thing, I'll be fixing that before the final 1.25 release once I figure out why it happened..

On the first turn, no one controls the North Sea or Baltic, and there are no ships at sea.  Yet Britain has 24 transport points.

--> you must first click on a receiving country for the shipping points to appear.  No other country has transport capacity on the the first turn.

If it helps, the 65k bug causes the 22 transports in Baltic bug.

Which is fine. Shipping is allowed in sea zones with no warships.

For sure, but only Britain has this first turn transfer ability.

When you selected France or Russia you didn't see Britain listed as a possible transfer target?

Or were you talking about the British rail movement?

I mean the "Transfer Material" button.  The "transport cap" is zero for every country except Britain. Britain has 24.
Whether it is sea or rail I don't know.  This is in August 1914.

That's the "strategic" (rail) movement number. Its used to move material overland or to ports as well as moving troops. Britain is the only country that starts 1914 with a rail capability.

Okay, got the 65k bug, when you selected a target nation a variable was set, when you came back to that same country's transfer screen the variable was still set as it had been earlier so when you clicked OK the game tried to send the same amount of food it had before but this time there was no error checking as the screen didn't see any action taken.

Thanks!

Ok. then. But all the target nations are overseas. And they are available targets.

Right, but rail capacity is still used to transfer food and material to port.

Which they should be as they are available.

Recapping what I've seen:

1) Only Britain may transfer material on the first turn.
2) Transfer of material always costs rail points. If transfer is by sea, the naval orders screen is updated to reflect this.
3) America's naval orders screen is not updated when transfers are made.
4) Only Britain and America may use the Baltic supply route to Russia.
5) If needed shipping is not in place, the transferred assets are lost.
6) The required shipping may be owned by any friendly country.
7) If America joins the CP (I know, Iknow), it may only transfer material to France or Britain.
8) CP nations can never transfer material by sea.

I tried to open the Black Sea route to see the effects, but the British HQ that moved to Gallipoli vanished after moving to the hex adjacent to Constantinple. Yes, vanished, poof!

On #5, anything ordered to be transferred that doesn't actually get transferred during the forthcoming turn will show up back in your stocks the following turn.

On #6, the required shipping can come from the transferring country or the target.

The HQ was probably out of supply and as requested I tightened that up so that out of supply HQs are eliminated.

Supply in the hex was low, 3%, I think, but not zero.
Oddly, supply in Britain went down at the same time, Plymouth was 57%

3% would do it, if I remember correctly the elimination point for an isolated HQ is 5%

Did Britain receive less food than it required that turn? What month/year was this?

On the America thing, I could allow America to send material to other nations such as Russia but the Barents Sea and Trans-Siberian RR are bottlenecks. A low limit on such transfers is one possibility. And of course I'll have to add the capability for the US to transfer to Germany and Austria just in case the TE declares war on her.

The Baltic route works for America.  And I see now the Black sea route works for france and Italy.
But there is definitely something screwy about the supply net in Britain itself.  Supply diminshes with distance from London.
Alexandria is at 80%.

Don't think so. I sent all food from Britain to Russia on Aug 1914. And sent out no shipping. As of Nov-Dec 1914 that food has not
reappeared.
Not trying to give you a hard time FH. Just reporting what I see.

Thanks Naskra, sending out all your food would explain why you have a supply collapse happening in Britain. As for why the food didn't come back when unable to be transferred to Russia I can't figure out. The way its supposed to work is, for example, Aug 1914, Britain orders 10 food to be sent to Russia. Starts turn. At the end of the the naval phase the available shipping is figured for each sea area. After the 4 impulses of the turn all transfers are now checked to see if they did take place, if they didn't that stuff should return to its origin point and then all new food and RM's and Industrial points are figured. Then comes the new Sept-Oct Strategic Phase where all that should show up on your national status screen.

As for "giving me a hard time", its a test release as it says in the title bar. I expected bugs with all the changes and the faster they appear the faster I can fix them. Thank you!

I see now.  The food does return on the following turn, it shows up as "consumed".

I did not realize the supply net reflected general famine, I thought it was only terrain and connectedness that
mattered.  Wiser now, thankyou.

Ah, so since Britain does not have a food surplus the food that was transferred to Russia was immediately consumed when that failed. And the consumption must have been short of what was required which is why the supply value of your cities and surrounding terrain declined.

So is Britain transferring supplies to Russia on August 1914 via the Black Sea?

Minor issue:  In the activation phase, the TE gets athe "Are you sure?" message, the CP does not.
