We have uploaded Commander - Napoleon at War 1.04 Beta to the Members Club for those Members who would like to help us with the testing of the new features and bug fixes for this patch release. We want to make sure that the bug fixes listed have worked as they should and that no new bugs have surfaced because of the changes.

Again this is an early public beta so those who want to help out with the testing may. You can access this public beta as a Private Download as long as you have registered your Commander - Napoleon at War serial number in our Members Club (Click on the MEMBERS link in the top nav bar).


IMPORTANT NOTE: As with 1.03, 1.04 Saved games are now in "my documents\Commander Napoleon at War" to make them easier to find. You will not be able to continue any old saved games.

Changes

Features and Enhancements

• Max labs set higher for Vassal countries
• Science is now a bit faster

Fixes

• Fixed a bug with Vassals scientists not working
• Fixed a bug with not being able to focus on Attack Columns science

AI Enhancements and Fixes

• Fixed a bug where AI waiting for horses buying cavalry instead of buying something else
• France now invade Saxony and Prussia earlier instead of waiting for them to join the war
• AI now reacts and assign newly deployed infantry to homeland defense duty if enemy is near
• AI now reacts and dismiss newly deployed infantry from homeland defense duty if enemy is far

Hi,I downloaded the latest patch,playing as France after I did my moves I clicked for the coalitions turn but the the game got stuck in coalition turn.I tried this 3x and the same thing happened on the 1st. turn.Then I played as coalition and no problems.Prior to this patch I had no problems with the game.Hope there will be a patch for this patch.Thanks

Do you have a save you can mail me the autosave which shoudl be in my documents/Commander Napoleon at War/data/save

Otherwise, since you started new game the autosave would overwrite and in that case check if you have a error.log file in your installation path (not in my documents but instead where you installed the game) and you can mail me.

I have been playing as France and have not had similiar problems with this patch. I am currently working on conquering Russia and no problems have come up yet.

Ronson, is there any way to nail down what casues the freeze? What game options did you use, any handicap any changes to FoW or other options?

Since it is repeatable can you please install 1.04 again and get the error occur once again? There should be a autosave created in your "my documents/Commander Napoleon at War/data/save" folder.

Thanks for your response I unintalled and reinstalled game and patches and it seems to work now.I'll keep you up to date if I have trouble again(hope not).Thanks again for you Quick response.

Does it say "v1.04" in main menu down right corner?
I tried myself adding 1000 PP to Russia and ran, the turn after it deployed doussinss of units and its manpower was down to yellow.

What scenario and difficulty level did you play and how many turns?
Initial Russian units will be deployed into empty Cities for defence or did you mean any other country? GB start building some navy I think, some countries start by recruiting scientists but if y ou play for some months did you still not see any new AI units?

Can anyone else confirm if Coalition buy units?

Hi again,
i tied the 1.04 patch playing french whith moderate advantage for coalition (i play two games and the result was the same in both case, i end game two after 20 turns).

1) English build some ships, and commander. But their 15 units swarming in England did not try an invasion on France.
2) Austrian did build 1 commander (two turns before vienna falls).
3) Prussian an Russians didn't build anything, they were spending their money but no new units appears (i was playing with fog of war off). It was the same problem in patch 1.03 ...
The only new units i saw, were the ones created the turn 2 (due to the difficulty level), maybe that's what you saw when AI was building units ... (maybe you should try to play some more few turns and you'll see)

ps; I know that a lot of Beta testers are testing the game on the coalition side, but if you play the French side, this patch (and the previous one) are broking the game...



Hope this will be corrected soon.

In the meantime i'll go back to patch 1.02.

Thanks. This seems tied to the new leader bonuses and their usage sometimes blocking other deployments. It has been tracked down, fixed, tested and will be in the next update.

Thanks for the Beta Patch, I downloaded and play the main campaign as France with fog of war on, here are my comments.

Austria plays fine my only comment is when they revolt their units do not move from Vienna,it would be nice if some units moved out and threatened French locations.

Prussia plays great until it revolts with Austria. More units should be included in the revolt and they are to low tech and weak, make them stronger.

Russia still to passive. Builds to many Calvary units over infantry units. Moscow had 4 Calvary and only 2 infantry units around it. one or two unit attacks  are way to weak. Needs to send out larger forces more often. Moscow to easy to take. St. Peters defended by 2 Calvary units the wrong side of the city (swede side) so are blocked (should be infantry units as well). I see Russia as the key to making this a really great game. They have the man power and the AI needs to use it.

France (I was playing France) to many production points, can max out almost all of they tech by early 1809 making units to powerful. Either boost other countries tech or reduce French tech growth.

Britain This is the big problem. Starts good, Navy working well, attacking french navy and any remaining french fleet. But still not repairing their own ships and does not seem to build any more ships now. I was able to pick off British ships quite easy. I do not know what Britain does with its production points, two remaining frigates were next to Liverpool Port, one strength 5 & the other strength 4, I watched them for a few rounds, they did not move nor did they go in the port to get repaired. One British Calvary unit landed on its own to help Prussia, I was waiting for the remaining British army but no more units arrived.

Invaded Britain 1809. No British army present, only milia  units on cities, farms etc. Where was the British army for the whole game? It must have had plenty of production points as many of the convoys got through. I did not invade Spain so maybe it just sat in Portugal the whole game doing nothing, but I did not see any fleets heading that way. The AI for Britain needs a major overhaul. I never had any treat from them after the first few naval battles. If they would have repaired and built new ships then the Alantic battles would be great. If they had landed 3 or 4 units in Prussia not just one and Russia and also sent more units, the battle for Prussia would have been the highlight of the Game.

Overall I did enjoy the game but bottom line the AI is still two passive. France was never under threat.

Bugs:
No Artillery casualties being recorded on statistics page.
When I raised a city the display box was a white box, I had to sweep my mouse over it a few times to reveal the text and option to burn it.

Forgot to say it was Napoleon at War 1.04 Beta patch I was playing. Also Spain should declare War on France in 1808 or at least  have an option at the start of the game for this. An option for Sweden to attack Russia in 1808 would also improve the game.

Thanks Jon. On the current 1.04 version there is a leader deployment problem with the new AI features of it using leaders. The leader usage for AI is very recent added after suggestions by players so had some glitch not seen before. That is why GB had not many units and so again this means 1.05 will be dramatically different to 1.04 which also means 1.05 should be rdy any day since it needs testing.
