Hi, I'm thinking about ordering The Guns of August and I have just a few questions before I do.

- I generally only play single-player games; so I wanted to know if I could plaese have some players' opinions of the A.I. for Guns of August.

- How complicated is Guns of August compared to Europa-Universalis 3?

- What are the main differences in design between Guns of August and World War One (the new PC game from AGEOD)?

I've always like the topic of WWI, so I'm almost certain that I'm going to order Guns of August. Thnaks in advance for any replies.

Since no one else will weigh in, I'll give it a shot.

1) The AI is as good as that in any moderately complex wargame. That is, not very good.

2) I would say about the same complexity level as EU3. Beyond that, there are NO similarities between the two games.

3) If the AGEOD game is based on the same engine as Birth of America, then you don't want to go there.......

As the CP? I don't think so, though it is conceivable, if the experienced player tries something stupid enough. As the TE? You betcha. The CP has such an uphill road, even a couple of apparently small things going wrong will nail you.

So far the AI is hanging in there against me....But only have the game for a week. Addictive, it is becoming.

The AI works better as the TE because passivity works for them. They can also afford to squander some OP's since time is on their side. The CP's have so little time and resources that it would take a killer AI to make that side work.
