Scenario 16
The Day After, ¨The Day of Infamy¨ (Stock)
Ike99-vs-Lecivius

Sub doctrines are off
Reinforcements +/-15 days

etc.

House rules are simple, none. AAR is open to Lecivius, no secrets here.

Brief highlights of each day as we go.

I´m sure I´ll lose. This game has one too many Divisions for my brain to compute what to do with.

December 9th highlight.

Is Ike playing as the Japanese side?  I'd be surprised if he wasn't.  Playing Ike with no HRs is like letting the fox into the chicken coop, locking the door and going away for a few days expecting to find that all is well.

Ike is playing Japan, I am playing the Allies ( and may Gawd have mercy on me).  I was running Force Z out from under the Betty umbrella & got bushwacked   In exchange, one of my Swordfish put a round in the side of a Jap CL.  I lost the AK out of Midway to KB as well ( a calculated risk that I lost), but I  know where KB is now.

"Playing Ike with no HRs is like letting the fox into the chicken coop, locking the door and going away for a few days expecting to find that all is well. "

Gee thanks, I feel SO much better as this is my first serious PBEM   .   I have to admit, I am concerned about the start of this, my worthy foe has taken a different approach and that is keeping me off balance a bit.

I´m not so sure how worthy I am, I know very little of WITP. I´ll try to make it interesting for you.

I have devised my strategy, on an assumption of what IKE is up to.  I have sent out orders to beging plan Fire Storm.  It's impossible to commemce offensive operations as allies this early in the war.  However, I have been lurking around here a lot & came up with an idea I have not seen used yet.  With any sort of luck I can still give Ike a head ache.  Units & plans are already in motion, it will take about 20 days to see if this works.

If you know what I´m up to please tell me. I have so many pieces here...I´m just moving pieces around basically!

Now is a good time to sell that ship insurance company. There is what seems like a hundred Allied submarines just outside Saigon, North Phillipines and another group moving to Japanese ports, one Japanese freighter sunk outside Saigon but I hit him too..

Sagoland made port at 76/25/16.  She may make it.

The allied powers strike back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 31,47

Japanese Ships
AK Akagane Maru, Shell hits 14, Torpedo hits 2,  on fire,  heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Sturgeon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Down goes an AK, first blood.

Maybe so, but lading around the Admiralties really hosed an unpleasant surprise I was making

Tarawa falls as well as Makin today.  The pacific looks fair for the Allies.  Burma & China...well...they are always hosed this early.

Good Hunting!

Pearl harbor attack has already taken place in scenario start. December 8th scenario starts. Historical results are applied. Also there is no teleport on turn one so things take a little longer to develope.

Wake also was captured.

Rabaul captured today.

The method of advance I am trying is simple. A ground force moves in to capture a good airfield in a area. This is followed by a good base force and airpower to take control of the surrounding sea.

Isolate them, then kill them.

Rinse, wash, repeat.

It's quiet...to quiet.

Plan Fire Storm phase 1 should occur tomorrow ( I hope).

Phase 2 & 3 almost have the parts in place.

Not much, but it is different...and a bit insane

Well shucks.  That didn't work out to great.  Part 1) Misfired ( more on that  later)   Part 2) I was building a cruiser force off of Buka to contest the inevitable Rabaul landings, but he landed & they folded in 1 day...with my CA's still a turn away.  The available forces went in, 1 CA, 4 CL's & 5 DD's.  Astoria takes 5 torpedos & made a nice reef, 2 DD's made end caps to that reef, and a CL gets torpedoed and goes down with all hands on the way out.  All that is left of Plan Burnt Match is Part 3

As of December 18, the Allies are falling back grudgingly.  Losses in air frames is about even.  I have lost 9 ships including a CA, a CL, & 2 DD's.  My opponent is taking a beating from my subs and is down 20 ships, mostly AP's.

Part 1 was, I hoped, a suprise break out of the Malay peninsula.  I noticed only 1 japanes division on the bottle neck out.  I pulled every swinging...bandoleer...into a contentrated attack on that point.  I had all units @ 40% prepped (best I could do in the time).  The attack was against level 2 forts and failed miserably.  Guess those guys were doomed from the start    I always wondered why they never fought their way out, now I know.

Part 2 was, I hoped, a large surface action when Rabaul was invaded.  Ike was just to fast, and siezed Rabaul & put in aircraft 1 day before I could gather The Hammer.  What forces I had went in anyways, and suffered accordingly.

Part 3 is still in play, and the results won't be guessed at for about another 30 days.  If succesfull, it will have long term impact on the Japanese war machine.

The allies continue to give ground grudgingly.  Two more days until reinforcements begin to trickle in.

I have not had this much fun playing a game in years
