Has anyone else seen this happen? I'll fire the main gun once and destroy one AFV and also get a report (and sound effect) of a hit on another AFV that is in the same hex. I haven't gotten two kills with one shot yet but I imagine it's only a matter of time. Is this a system glitch or did this actually happen in WW2?

This is not a glitch, with Version 7.1 you now get your main shot and then you also get shrapnel. So you could destroy your main target then the shrapnell could destory another target in the same hex. Very realistic I think. If you have a bunch of vehicles crowded in the same hex I would think there is a very good chance to destroy more than one. Word to the wise. Happens with infantry all the time.

As far as did it actually happen in WWII I am not sure, but I know for sure it happened in the American Civil War. This was due to the way units marched in straight lines and in formation. If another unit could get a flank shot, shoting down the line effectivly, you could kill more than one soldier with one bullet. :(

I've got few multiple kills against stacked german panzers with KV-2s in Russian Steel campaign. First time I was a bit suprized, but considering the gun caliber result doesn't seem unrealistick.

My favorite is bouncing a passenger out of an APC with the first shot, and then killing the passenger with a "frontal armor penetration".

The program seems to lose the definition of vehicle vs foot during bail outs. ;)

Thanks guys. I'm playing the MCLV scenario "Touch and Go" right now so there are many hexes of stacked Russian armor. I thought I was lucky getting "two taps" with one shot. Now, I feel unlucky that my PzIIIg's aren't ripping up those pesky BT-7s, etc. wholesale.

Could also be a shot that passes completely through one vehicle and then detonates on the one next to it. I've seen this actually happen in "live fire" excercises so I don't doubt that it happened in WWII.

It's kind of embarassing when AI drives a Mk III and halftrack on top of my recon team MG's blasting, then rolls out a 150mm sp-gun and WHAMM. Kills my scout team, immobilises the halftrack and destroys Mk III.

I stopped playing serious campaings against Artificial Idiot and play PBEM instead. Nobody is that stupid.

The technical term that was adjusted within 7.1 for these type of instances is called "splash damage effect" which was completely retweaked and along with armor formulas being redone has led to a much more realistic result. Now grenades actually kill people for instance.

Oh I don't know there was the time when my engineer had three tanks sitting on top of him and the AI proceded to kill my engineer and his three tanks with shots from other tanks. It does save ammo. :D
