First off big thanks to Gary
re-painted your Downtown Stadium to make a stadium for the JackRabbits
which I've called Assiniboine Stadium

I just had to give 'em a stadium
and though others who downloaded the uni, might also like the stadium

its available for download now at the usual place
and I havnt swampped it with CFL logo's so its very generic for any style league
with the exception of one small CFL logo on the scorebord and an ad for Sport Manitoba also on the scoreboard
but both can be easily coloured out and or replaced.

Well not really Rivals
there's a massive distance between both places
and in seperate conferences

But I get your meaning........ mentally in my own head their could be a kinda rivalry struggle

... and? Notre Dame - USC is a rivalry with the same features - Different conferences (Independent, PAC-10), and distant locations (Indiana, California).

There's a few high school rivalries that are different conferences and distant locations (in terms of high school travel distances), and there are some in the NFL that are distant location/different conferences.

Interesting perspective on rivalries:

Hi Mykal,
there are so many reasons for rivalry. And distance doesn´t play a big role: The poor against the rich; the smartasses against the blue color workers; North vs South, East vs West.. etc. The clearest sign of a big rivalry is (almost) always, if two competeting teams are seperated in different divisions or conferences, because if they meet each other, its always a "clash of steels", with riots in the streets of the losing town etc.
So, go for it.

p.s not a really serious post.

edit: DAWUSS was faster than me.

Well over here in the UK
soccer rivals tend to be more local
Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United
Chelsea and Arsenal (both from London)
and my home team Hull City and Leeds United (Leeds is only about 40 miles away from Hull)

these games are often very heated affairs
which sadly also spill out into crowd violence

we certainly dont have a rivalry that is comparable to Yellowknife and Brandon, thats for sure
the distance between the 2 places is further than the length of our country and then some.

Well here in bay area , northern california . Our local teams and fans can get worked up big time , even when both teams our bad. At one time was a fan of both teams, but quit rooting for 49ers there first good year in 1981. Because there fans became to obnoxious . Till then rarely would here to many people talk about niners except the 20 to 25 thousand who went to there games. But as soon as the ass al davis moved to Los Angeles suddenly all the yuppies and poor lost boys started rooting for them . Back then the rivalery was cultural and economic to . San francisco had whites and asians supporting them , oakland was white , black and hispanic. As for economic , seems like san fran crowd , was higher income people , same type put this country in economic problems . Oakland was middle class to being min wage . Even food was difference , at tail gate partys . Wine , lobster , crab and such at SF Games . Oakland , hOT DOGS , BURGERS AND RIBS AND OF COURSE BEER AND HARDER STUFF . tHOSE WERE THE DAYS . I`m sure other towns have different reasons for rivaleries . . Sure New york has theres to.

All due respect Mykal - our rivals are Tottenham, not Chelski! LOL

OK I grant you we have a rivalry with Chelsea across town but Tottenham and White Hart Lane are just about across neighborhood.

This is what I love about the Premier league. You really do have some fantastic rivalries - I wish we had promotion/relegation in the United States for some of our leagues. I have a feeling it wouldn't be all that popular though because honestly Tampa Bay Rays would have been in Division 2 this season and they legitimately earned their spot in the world series. I guess we just don't have the rabid nature of fans where we could handle our teams falling down into the minors.

well its not exactly minors MB
we have for a small country a huge structure to our soccer leagues

Premiership being the top division
the Championship next - still a good league with some quality sides in it
then Divisions one and two below that
after this point is where we go a little minor

Blue square Premiership - still not a bad league but comes the tag of not being a member of the football league
top team each season is promoted to the league at division two status

below that is the blue square North division and south division - these are pretty minor teams
and below that, not even worth a mention but there are still leagues beyond this point

I just want to see AFC Wimbledon progress from those lower ranks.  That was one of the most silly moves I've ever seen in sport putting them in Milton Keyes and pretending that they were Wimbledon.

Milton Keynes Dons is actually the old FC Wimbledon after they moved from wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon is another side altogether with no claim or rights to any of the Old FC Wimbledon history

although after legal battles and negotiations
MK Dons dont have any rights to the old FC Wimbledon history either
its all a little complicated but the reality is MK Dons is or was FC Wimbledon

all a little silly I agree but only because MK Dons should have the rights to FC Wimbledon History
because its the exact same team but moved home
kinda like the saying the Raiders have won no Super Bowl's
because that was the LA Raiders and as Oakland Raiders they have no rights to the history of the club.........

thats the only silly bit for my money, so they moved and changed names....... so what..... the history is still theirs.

heh I'm familiar with the situation - to me MK Dons is a fraud organization with no history whatsoever.

I would say in Britain, my experiences were that communities owned their teams a lot more then here in the US but I can accept them having the history but even the fact that they have dons in their name makes me yack a bit.

Mykal ,  just  to let  people know , Raiders been in 4 super bowls  as oakland raiders , winning 2 , As los angeles raiders , they were in 1 super bowl , winning it. . Not  sure but i think when the browns became the ravens , they reconized  the old baltimore colts records  , as theres , i might be wrong on that . I know the new cleveland browns  lay claim  to  the old browns  records .

Sorr DONMVP for stripping away 4 Oakland Super Bowls
was just using the raiders as a "for instance" to make point

Polotics in Sport, not a good mix
keep it sport and leave the polotics out of it.......... for my money

Kewl, glad you've a good grasp of it MB..... from all that way away
personally.......... I Hate Soccer
But in fairness thats more due to being a pub and nite club bouncer
and got sick of all the fights in the name of football
which to me is stupid......
english men fighting english men because we got knocked out of the world cup by Argentina....... that kinda thing
why anyone would want to glass another man in the name of football........ is totally beyond my grasp
and totally turned me off soccer
and cost me a very expensive shirt to stem the bleeding of a lad who turned out to be just seventeen
after a beer glass was smashed into his face and upper neck.............. madness
