Well, we have a final build of MaxFB, my beta testing days are done....so, im wondering if any of you would like to join a league. It seems all but a few leagues are either dead or on hiatus. No problem there, things happen, I know that. But for those of us who are in the mood to play some football, lets band together like the Justice League and make it happen.
Love to have my old NCFL owners back on board.

The basics would be as follows:
Either US(11) or Canadian rules(12)
10min quarters
53 man rosters
Custom playbooks only, no league book
Games played out, NO sims
Friday/sat gameday

Just a rough layout. Any interest, let me know. I would like to start with 6 teams min.
More if people are interested.
Anyway, we would get things started as soon as we have the owners and a decision on the ruleset.
There are 2 interested owners now, me and 1 other.

I would prefer 11 man rules so I can use a variety of the excellent playbooks out there.

You can locate it wherever you want, just pick a city.

How do you guys feel about plays/playbooks? Are you looking forward to making your own plays, or will you be using already existing stuff, like Hacks and the stock plays?

Im open to either. I can build a playbook from existing stuff, or make my own, or both. But I will follow the direction you guys want to go.

So....
If we decide on stock/already existing plays, we just need to decide on which stuff to include then lock it down for the season.

If we decide on custom and stock, we need to figure out how to handle scouting the custom stuff.

Oh, and a note on team location and naming.

Please locate teams in real cities, and keep the names sane and family friendly.

Lets assume we are a real world league with real fans to please, church groups to appease, and political correctness to curse under our breath, yet abide by.

Texas Barbarians, Yellowknife Sabercats are perfect.

Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Volunteers, would not be. They already exist. Please, no defunct teams either, Detroit Wheels, Washington Federals, etc. Lets be original.

And if you want to customize a stadium, or do your own uniforms...go for it. Im kinda retired from that whole scene, but I will use whatever you send me.

Bit of clarity Gary

could you go with say: Pittsburgh Panthers.... to use an example

just so folk know where they stand....... not for me....... I have my team already LOL

EDIT: correcting myself Pitt Panthers, they are Real already
but my point is still the same can Pittsburgh still be used with a new identity........ lets say the "Pittsburgh Rush".

Sure...and I would actually be ok with Pittsburgh Panthers, if you use a different logo. Mainly because that is kind of a generic combo. There are a number of Panthers logos in pro/college sports. Pittsburgh Steelers is unique....so is Oakland Raiders...you hear that you think NFL, and they would sue

I guess to cut to the chase, I would prefer to avoid teams that are mirrors of real world teams. Locate in any city, im cool with that, even smaller cities that might not be on any pro leagues list. Im probably going to locate my team in Pensacola, like they were in the PIFL. Pensacola isnt on a short list for any pro football league, but it can be in our world.

Lets just avoid real teams and real logos. There are tons of custom team stuff out there, we should be able to avoid that.

Agreed, think theirs enough stuff around to take care of that
plus for those that cant....... I'm not against the idea of helpin out and filling the odd request for a teams uniform etc.....
providing:
1. your in the league or about to join but waiting for an open spot
2. everyone dont swamp me all at once

Just put the Barbarians in one of you low poly stadiums, preferably one of the Bowls. I'm already whipping up my uniforms and field stuff. I planned on using one of dreamtheatervt's playbooks or hack's or a combination of both.

Ok Bigsmooth. I dont mind dressing a stadium up for anyone, it will be basic stuff.

I would say that any of the currently available playbooks, like those from DTVT and Hack are going to be a part of the leagues stock pool.

I will put together some basic rules later and post them. I would request that if guys are just using untouched books from Hack, etc...then there is nothing needed except to tell me which one.
If you plan to make a hybrid of several, or tinker with Hacks, or whoevers, then either create a new playbook or just rename one of theirs, so there is no over-writing.

Oh, I forgot about that. Old mans memory I guess. I remember us talking about it in the PIFL days.

Welcome back Speed.

As of right now, we appear to have 6 guys. Thats the minimum I was looking for to start.

I will get a basic website put up, with the outline of rules, and how things will work.

So everyone just get your uniforms and stuff together and I will get back to you shortly.

If we get a couple more guys in the next day or so, i will probably cap it at 8.

Do we have any idea on what the league will be named yet?

I need to overhaul Ingraham Park
Signage needs to be changed
endzones need re-painting
infact the whole playing surface needs to be torn up and re-sized

The Groundsman isnt going to be happy
he's got a bunch of work to do - and no overtime pay

EDIT: and have we any kinda league logo in mind ?

Well not really an objection....... not my place or style to object
but.......
National.......... implies a Nation such as America
and my team is based in Canada

plus I thought it was going to be a kind of world league
where teams are welcome from any city in any nation

WCFL would make more sense........IM humble O

Alot of times when a Canadian team is playing in a American league the boundry lines are done in yellow on the Canadian with the numbers on the folding orange cards with the numbers on it.So were it would say 55 on the field it says 50 on the folding cards. The game would do that for you.Might look pretty cool.

Good luck on the league nice to see another league on the go
