AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/29/42 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 80,61 Japanese Ships AK Akagisan Maru MSW Shintohoku Maru MSW Shawa Maru #10 MSW Shanan Maru #16 MSW Rikusen Maru Allied Ships SS Silversides Silversides missed, those MSW are just useless, not worth the fuel they need... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 74,55 Japanese Ships AK Tuyama Maru MSW Togo Maru MSW Tasei Maru MSW Tamaura Maru MSW Sonobe Maru Allied Ships SS Herring Herring also missed, Allied SS performance is awful at the moment as are the Japanese MSW... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coastal Guns at Norfolk Island, 60,119, firing at TF 1015 TF 1015 troops unloading over beach at Norfolk Island, 60,119 260 Coastal gun shots fired in defense. Allied Ships CL Sumatra, Shell hits 3 DD Voyager AK Silindoeng, Shell hits 1 AK Poelau Tello CL Adelaide AK Lematang, Shell hits 1, on fire AK Langkoeas, Shell hits 1 DD Van Nes AK Bintoehan, Shell hits 1 AK Beatrice CL Java, Shell hits 3 AK Taurus AK Liberty Glo, Shell hits 1 AK Escalante R AK Dos Hermanos DD Banckert AK Bisayas DD Piet Hein AK Don Jose, Shell hits 1 Japanese ground losses: 47 casualties reported Allied ground losses: 1872 casualties reported and here comes the Allied invasion of Norfolk Island. I occupied the island for 6 days! The Allied counterreaction came so fast it looks like the troops landing here were already on transports heading somewhere. Now look at this single IJN base force, it puts up a hell a lot of counterfire to the invasion! Not comparable with the dozens of CD guns I had at Canton that did nothing at all after the nuclear bombardments. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coastal Guns at Norfolk Island, 60,119, firing at TF 1015 TF 1015 troops unloading over beach at Norfolk Island, 60,119 191 Coastal gun shots fired in defense. This really looks like a Dutch invasion! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Manila , at 43,52 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 68 D3A Val x 41 B5N Kate x 49 G3M Nell x 27 Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 143 Ki-46-II Dinah x 3 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 37 casualties reported Airbase hits 2 Runway hits 117 Port hits 1 Aircraft Attacking: 32 x Ki-43-Ic Oscar bombing at 2000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 70th Chinese Corps, at 47,29 Japanese aircraft Ki-21 Sally x 14 Ki-48 Lily x 4 Ki-49 Helen x 12 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 66 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Aircraft Attacking: 4 x Ki-48 Lily bombing at 6000 feet I fear that I will soon need those 150 medium bombers from China elsewhere... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 79th Chinese Corps, at 47,29 Japanese aircraft Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 36 Ki-30 Ann x 12 Ki-32 Mary x 9 Ki-51 Sonia x 12 Ki-21 Sally x 61 Ki-48 Lily x 7 Ki-49 Helen x 31 No Japanese losses Allied ground losses: 284 casualties reported Guns lost 6 Aircraft Attacking: 11 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on 2nd UK Division, at 18,21 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 36 B5N Kate x 151 Ki-21 Sally x 33 Ki-49 Helen x 43 Allied aircraft Hurricane IIb x 4 Japanese aircraft losses B5N Kate: 2 damaged Ki-21 Sally: 2 damaged Ki-49 Helen: 3 damaged Allied aircraft losses Hurricane IIb: 1 destroyed Allied ground losses: 302 casualties reported Guns lost 12 Aircraft Attacking: 18 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 21000 feet 21 x B5N Kate bombing at 26000 feet this attack just came one day late. An excellent result, mostly due to the laser guided bomb equipped Kates. The UK division showed up with only 50% combat strenght in the bombardment combat screen later on. Would be great to see those ground attacks going in the day I will attack again, which will probably be in three days. Unfortunately KB is already running low on fuel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Norfolk Island at 60,119 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 54 G3M Nell x 16 G4M1 Betty x 39 Japanese aircraft losses G3M Nell: 7 damaged G4M1 Betty: 13 damaged Allied Ships DD Van Nes CL Java AK Beatrice, Torpedo hits 1, on fire CL Tromp, Torpedo hits 5, on fire, heavy damage AK Dos Hermanos, Torpedo hits 1, on fire DD Witte de With DD Voyager, Torpedo hits 1, on fire DD Van Ghent AK Taurus, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage AK Langkoeas, Torpedo hits 1, on fire DD Evertsen Aircraft Attacking: 3 x G3M Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet 2 x G4M1 Betty launching torpedoes at 200 feet strike out of Noumea, I´m not satisfied with the number of bombers, this is somwhere around 35% of my bomber force attacking this big TF. But still, we hit the enemy and that´s what we wanted to achieve with the conquest of Norfolk Island. Without carrier cover the enemy suffers and CL Tromp is confirmed lost. Only a third class light cruiser but better than nothing... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Port Moresby , at 53,91 Japanese aircraft C5M Babs x 1 Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 35 Ki-49 Helen x 90 No Japanese losses Airbase hits 2 Runway hits 73 Aircraft Attacking: 15 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Norfolk Island at 60,119 Japanese aircraft A6M2 Zero x 42 G3M Nell x 3 G4M1 Betty x 18 Japanese aircraft losses G3M Nell: 1 damaged G4M1 Betty: 9 damaged Allied Ships AK Beatrice, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage CL Tromp, on fire, heavy damage DD Banckert CL Java, Torpedo hits 1, on fire CL De Ruyter Aircraft Attacking: 3 x G3M Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet 2 x G4M1 Betty launching torpedoes at 200 feet the majority of my bomber force failed to locate the target in the afternoon, most of the rest tries to engage CL Tromp (which is already sunk) and so only 8 bombers out of this attack drop torps, at least hitting light cruiser Java. Is it changed in AE that most of your bombers just turn around when they try to attack a ship that´s sunk already? This is one of the most irritating "features" of this game. "Hey, we are ordered to attack CL Tromp! But it´s already sunk sir! Okay let´s turn around! Sir, shouldn´t we attack one of the other 40 ships down there? No, turn around!".... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack at 79,60 Japanese Ships AK Hiyori Maru MSW Shintohoku Maru MSW Shawa Maru #10 MSW Shanan Maru #16 MSW Rikusen Maru Allied Ships SS Nautilus three Allied sub attacks today, all in the area around Marcus Island and Wake and all subs missed... And three times the MSW escorts were 100% useless... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Bombay Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 60585 troops, 670 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 1254 Defending force 6980 troops, 70 guns, 22 vehicles, Assault Value = 22 Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 7 Japanese max assault: 1157 - adjusted assault: 1072 Allied max defense: 22 - adjusted defense: 185 Japanese assault odds: 5 to 1 (fort level 7) Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 7 Japanese ground losses: 467 casualties reported Guns lost 24 Vehicles lost 3 Allied ground losses: 98 casualties reported Guns lost 4 Wow! The urban bonus saves the enemy once again. I was too dumb to think about it and I should have ordered a shock attack, at least this would have brought down the forts. I´ve now ordered a shock attack for tomorrow, but don´t expect to take the base. I expect to see the base falling after the third assault. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Sian Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 14269 troops, 460 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3632 Defending force 145509 troops, 1034 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 4448 Allied ground losses: 83 casualties reported -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Myitkyina Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 8386 troops, 289 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2986 Defending force 41559 troops, 330 guns, 254 vehicles, Assault Value = 757 Allied ground losses: 68 casualties reported Guns lost 1 now look at this! We´ve spotted now already F I V E units marching on Myitkyina! Miller sends five or more units out of China into Burma. I won´t have to tell you that I will counter that with more divs from my restricted China command into Burma also. The China command divs will be replaced with Kwangtung divisions in China. We don´t have a hr about restricted commands nor Kwangtung units in China, normally I just don´t use those troops in China, they aren´t needed anyway if you somewhat know how to wage a ground war. But in this case, Miller is sending retricted command units from China into Burma (we´re talking about something like a dozen units already) so I guess it´s only fair if I conquer this with sending restricted command units there also. Any thoughts? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Madras Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 24239 troops, 285 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 4878 Defending force 35570 troops, 307 guns, 400 vehicles, Assault Value = 609 my assault cost the enemy some 40 assault points, not that much... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Norfolk Island Allied Shock attack Attacking force 7722 troops, 57 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 250 Defending force 2182 troops, 9 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 30 Allied max assault: 212 - adjusted assault: 166 Japanese max defense: 15 - adjusted defense: 5 Allied assault odds: 33 to 1 (fort level 0) Allied forces CAPTURE Norfolk Island base !!! Japanese ground losses: 189 casualties reported Guns lost 6 Allied ground losses: 69 casualties reported Guns lost 3 an Australian division was landed at Norfolk, not surprising, it overwhelmed the recently landed IJN base force easily... hope to see more air attacks on the enemy shipping tomorrow...
