I wish someone would redo QQP'w Battles of the South Pacific, almost like this game except you could play online together.

If by "almost like this game", you mean "in no way like this game", we agree.

Because of the size and complexity of this game, and the fact that it is turn based, a TCP/IP game would be an exercise in patience. Would you really want to be staring at your screen for two hours waiting for your opponent to finish making his orders?

The game he refers to is not purely turn based like witp.
As he i did enjoy this game a lot, trying to find something similar put me on witp trail .
You could set a limited time for giving orders for faster play.

Missing a lot of possibilities from that game , but some important ones are showing up in AE
I recently got it running again on my pc via dosbox.
Playing against the AI to kill time between pbem turn to arrive in my mailbox.

Mentioned it before that AE team or WITP2 developers should have a look at this game for ideas.

!!!!!! EDIT, AE team should NOT looks at this game to aviod any delays !!!!!
