You know MFB is limping along when Madden-related topics enter an MFB forum

Texmod is a program not specifically written for Madden (indeed it is used for other titles like Guild Wars) that allows, to put it simply, access to certain resident memory addresses that are utilized when a game is being played. It allows uses to "inject" something different into the memory addresses to change the graphics of a game. It is a bit of a work around or a trick to bypass things that are hard coded. In Madden's case (and in Guild Wars as well), it can be used to change the uniforms that Madden would otherwise display with an altered version. It's not the most ideal solution to get fancy and modified uniforms into the game, but it does the job (with texmod and graphic editing programs like Paint Shop Pro and PhotoShop, much more can be done than the in-game madden uniform editor/creator can do).

It seems quite complicated at first when you start using it, but once you start trying it out and get some practice with it, it does becomes much easier.

It should be absolutely fine with digital downloaded madden.

Also, beware false positives with virus scanners and texmod. Because it alters active memory addresses, many virus scanners may detect it as a trojan (because of how it operates). You may have to temporarily disable your AV while using it, like me (I use Bit Defender) or create an exclusion rule. It is not a threat (as long as it was downloaded from a reputable site).

With texmod, can you access the different helmet templates in Madden? I would like to experiment with trying to convert some of the uniform templates to MF.

Textmod, DAT File Replacer, MadCAT, Madden Editor, and other utilities help a lot with modding Madden.  They allow things to be done that really should be able to be done in the game without them if AE Sports was friendly to user created leagues rather than beholden to the NFL.

Again, this is really a topic that should be posted on Football-Freaks or another Madden forum.  I am sure Redwolf, JD, Dawg, or NZA will help you out over there.

This is really getting out of hand. We have almost as many active Madden topics as we have for MFB. It's just a matter of time before this message board dies, unless something big happens. Too bad it appears it's going to end like this.

I don't think so at all. The fact of the matter is we have many here that have or play both. It's nice to chat or help with the great fellas here (as I'm sure others would agree), but we have put Marauders (as moderator), between a rock and a hard place, sort-of-speak.

Yes, the best place for info and utilities with Madden is definately over at Football-Freaks ( www.football-freaks.com ).

I am strictly against discussion of other football games on this forum. No games forums allows such a behaviour and i think there are many good reasons for this practice.

For outsiders it looks terrrible when a community discusses other games. I have not wrote any comment about other text sims or games which are comming and about their shortcomings (and there are some fundamental flaws). To make it clear - MF is still my choice and i do not see any realistic alternative. MF 2.2.90 has passed FPS Sierra (which is still on my HD because i will transfer my "old" players in my MF league) and after i have some knowledge in VB i do not care anymore about stuff outside of the PDS and the gameplay.

And to make it clear, too. I know that every gamer has his own idea about his football game and he should live this dream, even when he plays an other game.

Well actually it was kinda my fault that this got started

when I posted to show people what I was upto
and to explain that I'd be missing a little with regard to making uniforms and re-painted stadiums
but it certainly wasnt my intention to swamp our boards with posts on another title (I wont say it )

So you can blame me for that one............... Sorry Community

Well, I guess I come from a different background. I am a flight simmer. I post in many flight sim boards. Flight sim enthusiasts generally have respect for all flight sims (for the most part) and the odd thread or two or three about a particular flight sim even in other flight sim's forum is fairly common and generally tolerated (a genre comradery, if you will). Thought we might have the same here - a pc footballing comradery...guess not...

Oh well...

We'll keep talk of the "other" game and things related to it on the other forum...at least I will...sorry.

(P.S. Over Flanders Fields Between Heaven & Hell is now available!!!!! http://www.overflandersfields.com/ ]

Well I'd have too agree with ya' Redwolf

were it not for Football-freaks.com and their tolerance of posts regarding Maximum Football
I for one would never have even been here or bought the game
prior to reading about MF in FF I'd never heard of it.

But I too wont mention it again.........

I don't think it's a big deal as well. I wanted the templates to see if I could make a better looking MF uniform. I got them, I'm on them.

That's about it.  Unlike Football Freaks, this is an offical board for a product.  While I have allowed some post about other games to compare and contrast, going into how to mod other games should really be on that games official forums (see if EA will allow it on their board) or on a neutral website like Football Freaks.

Like Marauders said this is the publisher forum and not a private forum and as long as we have a FOFC "community" we will have no football community.

As I said, my purpose for the template questions I was asking was to get to this.
