Just had a reoccurence of this event:

Assaulting a city containing a garrison AND a corps.
After getting a breach and resolved first round of battle, (No chit picking - strait to the 5-1 and 5-2 tables)
the game creates a battlefile, which I must send to opponent, and exchange for every battleround.

This is worng for two reasons:
1) It's a siege battle, for Christ's sake.
2) A garrison does NOT count as corpse number two in combat.
So it should be treated as a single defending corps with preset chit-choice or AI selected chit.

I wonder if a depot garrisun also counts against leaders MTR and for PPs ??

This has been reported before by me and others. In 1.02, 1.03 and now also in 1.04. Did believe it was fixed long ago...

Was this a siege OR was the city units attacking the besiegers (I have seen this) which creates a trivial battle???

It was a siege. Phasing player, me, was the besieger. Non-phasing player was inside, as he should be.

Haven't got a useful save, I'm affraid, but should be possible to recreate...

It could have been a siege that was reversed to the trivial combat??? I did have some of these issues EVEN in the early 1.05 BUT 1.05.03 should address these.

... exchange of battlefiles in a trivial combat ?? Isn't that just the same problem with a different flavor.

The very bad thing about this used to be, that the battle is never finished for the non-phasing. In his next turn he was prevented from making his move, by the prompt for a nonexisting battlefile and thus ending the game in a deadlock. I think you fixed that by cleaning up a queue or something. All fine, but the source of that problem is on the lose here again, I believe...

All this to refresh your memory. Can't remember if this made it into Mantis tho'.

I don't see what the problem is. What you described is exactly how I would expect (and hope) it would happen. I sure don't want the AI picking losses if, for example, I have British infantry factors in garrison, and a Danish corps in garrison. I want to take Danish factors as my losses, not the British ones.

On the other hand, the situation could be reversed as well.

Also, there are no chits pulled for siege combats, whether breaking in or breaking out. It's always on the 5-1/5-2 tables, with the attackers getting the lower table.

I sure hope garrison in depot+Corps counts as "2 corps" and requires battlefile.
The current "auto-battles" is a joke in my opinion.

Im not 100% agreeing eighter on the corps+garrison for siege. Sieges can give the defender alot of valuable tactical info.
