hcdemo- f16 outfitted in sead, attacking soviet carrier. along the way, two helicopters in front of the f16s. used a couple amraams to knock them down. but now, when i redirect the f16s to attack the carrier, the attack window says it only has 'guns' to attack with. checked the load out, still has the arms........ what??????

have file, but file upload won't except it.

Most likely the carrier group doesn't have any radars turned on so the ARMs are not useable.

You can always zip and send saves to hc3@harpgamer.com

Playing a scenario recently I've witnessed a situation, when enemy SAG had only surface radars turned on, air search radars were off. I was unable to use HARMs (contacts were listed as "not radiating"), had to fire a salvo of TALD's and wait until they were spotted, which activated SAG's air defence. Just then I could fire my HARMS and finish the attack.

Paulus, if you can dig up or recreate a save please do, zip and send to us at hc3@harpgamer.com.  We have daver's save (thanks Daver!).  What version of the game are you using?

My game is patched up to the 0.44 version. I've already finished this scenario so I will recreate whole situation, maybe I will create a short test scenario.

Not saying it was the case in your situation, but its quite possible that the enemy group's helicopters had their surface radars active, but not the ships. Did it have helicopters?

Aah yes, SAG (in fact it was an italian carrier group) had helicopters on patrols, so most likely you are right - ships had sensors turned off, only those helicopters were using surface radars. So not a problem here but only my lack of observation - although I will check this out again. But there is an other thing. That italian group was on my radars for some time (at last for few hours) - there was a Hawkeye, more than one Prowler and some Hornets. Yet there was no reaction from AI's surface units in terms of radar activation. Just like I said, AI turned everything on at last moment, when my TALDS were spotted (probably by those helicopters). When player's units are locked on with radars there is a warning message, telling to turn on own radar. To what extent AI can disregard being locked on with radar and refuse to turn on its systems?

The good news is that the issues you are having and the ones Brad verified are not present in our current test build, having already been fixed. The bad news is that the current test build has so many other broken things that I'll probably be changing it so much yet that your problem may reappear. So I'll say thank you for the save, it will provide at a minimum a test situation we can run against future builds to test out he reworked behavior.

The USNI scenarios found in the demo are not part of the standard HCE (not yet, anyway). In the meantime, the time limit for the demo has been extended, so you can play it again.

Try: http://www.computerharpoon.com/public/hcedemo/

Yes, that's right folks.  AGSI demands that you register and request a demo.  Makes you wonder if these guys have any contact with reality.

, says the guy who published those direct links knowing full well the links would be changing very very quickly. Oh well, AGSI isn't the only one...

Who knew we'd be playing 'musical demos'.

The demo isn't hosted on AGSI's site, nor even on HarpGamer's site.  Instead, it's hosted on a server for a retirement community owned and operated by former air force officers.

http://www.falconslanding.org/

Makes it kinda hard to take those guys seriously.

What keeps Harpoon alive... Community.  If someone in the community offers up server space on a DS3 connection so everyone can download the demo quickly, is that really such a bad thing.

A long time Harpoon community member, I might add, someone deserving of more than a little respect. We're thankful for his help.

Not a bad thing, but certainly peculiar in the fact that neither Matrix nor AGSI principals were willing to provide this most necessary service themselves.

Matrix was willing, AGSI was willing, HG did host and was willing. So none of the parties you list are unwilling, all of them offered hosting, quite opposite of your unfounded claims.

And yet it ended up on a third-party server.  How very odd, indeed.

Not a bit odd to use what is by far the server with the fastest downloads where neither AGSI or Matrix has to pay for bandwidth yet they can still easily count the downloads.  Nothing at all odd about it there Tex.
