Is this game playable on a Vista64 computer? I have 4 games that Vista64 does not accept.

We did test it on a 64-bit Vista system and on our system it worked fine.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Your reply sounds encouraging. A question. Have you tested the following games on Vista64
Napoleon in Italy
Carriers at War
For libery & 1848
Steel Panthers World at War Mega Campagne.

None of these four work on my machine. Blank screens to scrambled colours.

I hate to spend another 60 dollars in this climate to get a further game that doesn't work.

Appreciate your imput. If it works on your machine what video card are you using and would this make a difference?

Napoleon in Italy and Carriers at War work fine on our Vista 64 system, I don't recall if SPWAW and For Liberty did. I'm not in the office now, but it has a nVidia 8800 GTS video card with the latest drivers (updated drivers are very important for Vista, as the first bunch were quite buggy). If I recall correctly, NII had to be "Run as Administrator" but that was about it. Have you tried the compatibility settings with those games? If your system's hardware/drivers are more finicky, tweaking the Quick Start shortcut to try the different compatibility settings under Vista may resolve it.

Tweaking the Quick Start shortcut to try the different compatibility settings? What do you mean here. I usually right click mouse and chose 'run as administrator' on the Quick Start -this generally helps especially with the Blizzard games. Are there other tweaks?
I realize that SPAW is a very old game and this one may just not work. However, Having Napoleon in Italy work on yours is encouraging. I will download and try it on mine. If this works then the new game may be worth the risk.

Again thanks. Any help on tweaks would be appreciated. I'm really not sure what to do here.

I should switch over to Napoleon in Italy as this refers to it. I downloaded and installed the NII game and patch. The game locks up and upon closing the following message comes up - This program requires a missing windows component. Program Autoplay. NII does not work for me under Vista64 any suggestions. I'll go to NII forum when you can respond.

Hobo5,

When you right click on the shortcut properties, there are also some compatibility settings you can try to see if they help get the games to work on your system. I'll check on Monday to see if we had to set anything unusual to get NII to work on ours.

Regards,

- Erik

If you select a game launch shortcut, right click and select Properties you will get a notebook of configuration settings that looks like this.

Go to the "Compatibility" tab and try the first option of running the program as if it was under Windows XP. That might be all you need to do. I don't have NII myself or I would check it for you.

Hope this helps, cheers, Rob

If you get scrambled colours it could be because the game is running in a window and expects your desktop to be at either 16 bit colour of 32 bit colour. Changing the desktop colour depth can sort these issues out.

Eric: Please see my string under NII tech support. A chap helped me get the map up but nothing is running. I can't move anybody. I downloaded a program called MS autoplay and autorun which was being flagged in a Windows window as being required. The game will now not load. Frustrating. Any help on the Vista 64 settings in your office would be appreciated. Mine other than the video card where mine is a Nvidia 8500 (with latest drivers). Since all Matrix games are not running and other manufacturers game are I suspect its something to do with Matrix.

I am running Windows XP Pro 64 Bit here. I have had almost no troubles running the dozen or so Matrix games I own. This week alone I installed and ran Both John Tiller Battleground series and the Command-Napolean at War games with no problems. I have a Phenom 9750, g gb or ram, nVidia 9600 GTX, 250 gb hdd, and both cdrom and dvd drives. I've tried Vista, but could not install Vista 64 for reasons that had nothing to do with hardware or software. I run a slassic 4 x 3 monitor. I know my Nephew had troubles with some games from Koei until he change the resolutions on his wide screen monitor.

Good Luck. The Matrix games are some fo the best.
