When the time is right could we please see more screenies from decoder and the changes to ship repair?

This is my first PBEM GC in AE, and the first time I've done any playtesting on this scale. The routine is familiar to WITP, but the details are more resolved and all-important. In this particular case I completely overlooked a couple of squadrons of B-17s I had at Clark Field. I was so focused on capping the field with fighters I missed my offensive opportunity.

Fortunately the Clark Field B-17s had not flow since the war began, they were rested and had decent morale. Unmolested over the invasion fleet, with good weather, they pulled off several successful bombing runs. "Remember the Tennessee!", said a bombardier as he let lose a stick of 500 pounders.

A few transports will be in the repair yard for months to come. Hopefully they were laden with supplies.

When ships are parked off loading they are now VERY vulnerable

They take time to start manouvering and are easy to hit - unprotected invasions will suffer a lot....

I think you mean Tracker. Decoder is a different one.

It's at work, but I think it is Blair, I know it is 800 some pages. He goes over patrols real well. Shows how Ultra was used and at times it lead to wild chases. He agrues that if subs were used in say the Luzon strait ealier and more often they would have had even better results. Good read as I am in summer of 44 in the book.

Lots of sub action, both sides get hits on merchant, and I get hits on SS Tambor and O19 (In the later combat I loose a sub chaser though)

3 SCTF interceptions again, the BB TF off the south of Luzon, a SCTF reacted from Loag, and one other. SCTF interceptions are quite common in AE.

Cathartes PT boats hit my forces at Kwangchowan in south China. In a series of running battles I loose an escort and 3-4 xAK, he loses all the PT boats (5?)... a fictory for the Allies, all my forces had unloaded though and the base falls.

A lot of not very conclusive air combat happens, I'm busy moving stuff into position so the big airbattles haven't commenced yet. B-17 try a raid on shipping unloading at Aparri... the Zeros do good, may have even shot a B-17 down! A Nell unit foolishly attacks Clark without escort, my fault :( It looses badly.

Shock attacks at Hong Kong narrowly fail (1:1 then 1:2), so I will have to bombard for another couple of days before trying again.



Victoria Point falls, giving me a nice airbase to operate from.

Miri falls, about have the capacity is damaged. I have aircover up.

Guam falls, and the troops start loading for a new destination...

A bit of action in China too.

I am realy looking forward to see the outcome of your malayen campaign.
Sure you would beat the AI, which (I guess) would try to make a stand in the north. But will you be fast enought to cut parts of the Allies off, if your human opponent tries to pull back to Singapore as fast as possible ?


BTW, I saw strange things going on in down under, concerning weather. Are you save ?

It seemes, to my eyes at least, that Georgetown is an island on this map. Is this so? Is there a land link or do troops need to be ferried to and from GT?

It's ok. Even if he could see all of the Jap moves from Dec. 7 to 15, he's pretty helpless.

You guess where the enemy may travel through a hex, and have a TF there... or set up a patrol zones and patrol in an area along an expected path.

The fires are 20km to the South and South west of here, we have light smoke over us for the 3rd day. Winds increased over night, but the weather is expected to be cool today. The problem is it will heat up again this weekend.

Elsewhere in the state the fires are still a real threat, and there are number in NSW.

The death toll is expected to be over 200, and there are over 750 homes destroyed. Several small towns cease to exisit.

It looks like a number were deliberately lit.

Never though a WitP map would be used to track bushfires!

Here is a satellite pic taken of some of the the same area. The heat wave conditions this Summer have been unprecedented and the fires the worst in loss of life we have experienced. Truly terrible.

So you still have to actually finish your move in the same hex as enemy for the battle to occur? Or does it happen when their routes cross?

If both TF's are in the same hex at the same time you can have a naval engagement. This can happen either during the movement or the end phase.
