What are your bets for AE and WiF never coming out ?? I'll bet on that ! Read the forum about WiF from the beginning and laugh , how many years they promise to release ?? How many release dates has AE untill now ??

Hmm WiF might make it in 18 months -possibly less. So; 6 months or less 30 to 1, 1 year or less 20 to 18 months or less 2 to one.

About AE-I don't know- ah, I'll live on the edge here; 10 to 1 if it is released within six months. I am a little leery about going further out on that.

You'll have to go further then this, not betting for quick releases, but odds for long times releases !!
Hehe , I' ll take it : more then 18 months for WiF what's the rate ?
more then 6 months for AE what's the rate ?
And the stunning fact that WiF , if it will be released at all will be completely old-aged graphics and gameplay

Sorry pall, but what steady progress ?? I read a lot of talking and promises and releases for the past 4 years, but further then this : no way
By this progress it will be completely old-aged by both graphics and gameplay, if it will be released at all !!
And don't be angry about my reply , I would be thrilled if this kind of game would be scheduled for release, I am a fan of these games, but to long is to long, and to much promises are to much !

Go check out the February 1, 2009 Status Report entry in the Wif Forum under the "When" thread... or perhaps allow me to quote it here:

February 1, 2009 Status Report for Matrix Games’ MWIF Forum
...
Firm release date for MWIF product 1 is July 27th, 2009.

That was posted today by the developer after discussions with Matrix (and before you ask, it is not a personal reply to you - I doubt the developer has even read this thread.) I'm not personally angry about your reply although I think you are being unnecessarily tetchy... 'pal' is such a confrontational name to call someone. I accept that you were speaking from situational ignorance while I have had the benefit of being a betatester and have seen the progress being made. Why don't we just forget all of the historical sour grapes and start being positive about the impending release of a really great game?

Eastern, how much are you willing to let me put on that 30 to 1 bet for a MWiF release by 4th August 2009 (within 6 months)?

This isn't a dig at anyone, more a general observation!

I feel sorry for the devs because they cannot win. They are put under loads of pressure by people in forums to update on progress, give estimated dates (which miraculously turn into definite dates in the end user's eyes) etc. If I had to write a layman's version of a dev diary for the apps I create, it would take me an age to do and would be tedious to both writer and reader. "Oh, I fixed a bug which had crept into a case statement" wouldn't be of any interest. Users want: "Oh, I fixed a bug where the opfor weren't moving over yonder hill in a realistic way" type explanations. These aren't always possible or appropriate.

Delivery dates are also pretty hard work too in the gaming world, I'd imagine. It really doesn't take much to put a "firm" date back by a week, month or even longer. It's slightly easier for me as I work in a corporate environment where all the PC's are clones, with the same software and hardware and I don't have to contend with graphics at all. When someone wants to know how long it will take me to code X, Y or Z, I can generally give a good estimate as I know the goalposts won't move and am 100% confident that there's no variation in the hardware or OS. But, to cater to an unlimited mix of hardware components and end users who sometimes are complaining about problems of their own (or Microsoft's) making rather than coding problems in the game, I really sympathise with the poor developer who is able to keep their temper under check and who really is in a lose/lose situation.

Just my 2p worth

Even after its' release,it will probably be a year or more before you can play it. The bugs will be many! I can guarantee a game of this scope will have an awful AI. This will be a mess!
Sorry for my cynicism, this industry promises much but rarely delivers.

Me, too. It´s in the stat block beneath his avatar.

Don't let that deter you from placing a bet

Oh yes, I will let that deter me. I´ve been to Vegas. I´m not going to gamble against a local.

Hi friend, about the "pall" discussion : I live in a dutch-french speaking country, and speak
also German and a little bit spanish , so English is our third or fourth (or fifth) language we learn. I take the word "pall" as a kind off largely forum/online gaming word, so by this said take no offense at this "bad English word" cause you are an original English speaking people.
And now for your "estimated" release date for WiF : I am very sorry, but when did they first gave us a release date , I think 2005 , now we are I suppose in for the 4th or 5th
release-date and still they manage to postpone every year(with respect for the brave developpers !) so I don't believe it anymore, and don't be angry because I am very sad to discover the many delays a fine wargame can have without a serious timing. I must say : come on with the bets !!

Maybe if you only intend on playing the game vs the AI.

While I'm sure there will be bugs the version to play against humans shouldn't be that tough to do the straight up programming compared to vs AI play.

This industry promises much on a very small budget. The fact that they deliver ANYTHING is great news to the rest of us.

Good Hunting.

While we are waiting for the new releases perhaps we could broaden our interests with a little gaming-that is, I will game (run the “house”, and you guy’s gamble.

I will give 30 to one odds that COG EE will be released before Combined Arms (CA).
I will give 29 to one that BFTB will be released before C.A.
I will give 10 to one that BftB will be released before BTR-BoB

These plain bets can be easily added to with a simple request.

If you want to really make it interesting; months can be added to the winning (first) game such as:
CoG EE will be released 30 months prior to C. A. (19 to 1)

What is your pleasure? (Yuan only-100 Yuan minimum bet)
Satisfaction guaranteed!

Notice
All bets will be held by 06 Maestro until such time that that the terms of the bet have been settled. All funds in the gaming bank will be used for beer or investments by 06 Maestro as is deemed necessary. The house will make full payments to any and all winners within a reasonable time. The Gamers Gaming House is not a bank and thus is not eligible for Federal Bailout Funds. All bets will be paid in full-circumstances allowing. All bets are finale

Edit: Matrix Games web site should have additional (smaller) font choices.

Fellas, I will take the money you bet to Las Vegas and be sure it gets to 06 Maestro. I may have to make a few stops at some of the Casinos but be assured your money is safe with me. I will be going the 6th of March. So, please, don't wait too long to get it to me!

Eh Zap; you should make sure that the funds get to the Gamers Gaming House before making any investments. After it is properly counted and sorted, various investments could be discussed.
