How did you guys discover Matrix Games?

I was at Best Buy and saw this interesting game called "Gary Grisby's World at War" and the rest is history.

I bought Uncommon Valor for $10 in a clearance bin then followed the welcome screen links...

I was playing PacWar and searched for info on it. I found Matrix games and PBEM games of PacWar.

Mid 2001 PC Gamer had an article on best free games. IIRC. SPWAW was one of them. Lurked for a longgggg time.

One day I used Google in order to search if Talonsoft is still alive or East Front II had become abandonware, because I disbanded my pc game collection some years ago. Google pointed me to Matrix.

Once upon a time...

Well, there was a pacwarlist, there was a page called thegamers.net where some guys modded the well known Steel Panther to sp2ww2, WIR 2.0 and PACWAR 2.0 were also hosted on this site.
At one point some of those guys announced their own homepage.
It must be nearly 10 years ago, so maybe I got something wrong...

It was due to Steel Panthers World at War that I heard about Matrix. I had purchased and played all the previous games in the Steel Panthers series and the news of the latest version being released free seemed to spread like wildfire across the internet.

Thanks, Matrix!

When they started it got announced on Usenet - TalonSoft was king at the time and they were the new kid on the block trying to build a go-to place by offering some excellent free games and a forum for them.

It kinda worked :)

Erik Rutins was a Usenet regular from before Matrix existed so naturally I followed his adventures with this new company with some intrest but never bothered to de-lurk until Panther Games made me a beta bunny.

<edit>
Just checked the date under my avatar - 5 years already ??? - time sure flies

I bought Titan's of Steel from J&R Music World on a whim. After that, I was hooked more and more!

SPWAW was my way in after coming across it in a very old, now defunct, COW forum. Bought the AGS campaign to go with SPWAW and then bought UV, Korsun Pocket, Witp, TOAW III and acouple others. Will be buying AE, MWIF and BtR

Steel Panthers WaW. I remember release day. I was like a kid on Christmas morning, except that it took me 3 days to download. I really do not miss dial-up internet.

Came here after downloading SPWaW. Stayed here because of the way Matrix treats their customers and makes their games. Hell of a company.

I always thought it would be interesting if Matrix forums allowed you to see your entire history of posts...I'd like to see the first post I ever made

I can't remember.  I seem to have joined in August 2002.  It might having been after buying the UK store release of Korsun Pocket?
