Im in the middle of playing a game as th union against the confed. AI and at the nd of each of my turns it lists various upgrades I can choose from. I am not using detailed combat. Is the engineer, pioneer, scouts,signal corps,smokeless powder, or military band usefull without detailed combat turned on in this game? thanks kirk

Most of the upgrades and all special abilities and brigade attributes apply in QC ( Instant likewise). Upgrades give a percentage possibility of + 1 salvo or -1 counter-salvo fire and the others either increase/decrease casualties or increase morale. Details are in the appendix.
