Well, I could bitch about what Iīm bitching about all the time. Everything went perfectly once again for Miller. He may not be the best commander when it comes down to ground warfare but he definetely is when it comes down to timing. Has he ever shown bad timing? Well, the last airfield attack didnīt go in but hey, of course it does today when heīs able to fly Cap again. Pure luck probably as the airfield is still heavily damaged, but who cares, the enemy shot our strike to pieces today... Unfortunately I donīt have the super ability to see his air transfers before they even take place in the game, so the Allied always have the ability to surprise the Japanese, doesnīt work the other way around though. What else? Well, of course the enemy had the bounce for 100% of the engagement, the fact that ten thousand of bomber sorties werenīt able to harm the defending Allied base forces at this base is another fact.

Oh, Iīve lost around 85 pilots, so much about the fact how well it works for me to save pilots...

but in fact this was a bad idea of Miller as he now has more than a hundred damaged fighters at the base and the service facilities at the base are still 100% damaged. We will send the navy and then the airforce again. If he canīt again magically transfer all his damaged fighters out of the base, in the end he will lose two times the aircraft I have lost today... only a small moral boost for the Allied, but Iīm sure it was nice to watch for Miller. Unfortunately, in Nikmod itīs not possible for the Japanese to keep one airfield suppressed, even when you use more than 300 bombers. Not because they wouldnīt do damage, but because Allied flak prevents you from going in at an altitude you can do damage... Whatever he brings to Lautern, it will die, no matter how much damage he can inflict to my forces. He should focus on defending Northern Australia and not sending 200 fighters to Lautern, an airfield that has 100% damaged service facilities.

The only thing we were lucky today was the fact that our bombers had very low morale due to constantly flying against his flak base and therefor most of them turned back... note that he already has Corsairs available... Thatīs nice, as they shouldnīt arrive before 2/43...

Defending force 215475 troops, 1513 guns, 2557 vehicles, Assault Value = 4415

Japanese ground losses:
25 casualties reported

have ordered the next deliberate attack for tomorrow... if it goes as expected we will then order a shock attack two days later... I donīt need the Navy near Darwin anymore, so we can focus on Lautern again... but if we do the same damage as we always did there then it wonīt make much sense...

The shock attack will enable me to bring down the rest of the forts and the most important thing: will see all my tank units following the enemy troops retreating towards Wyndham. Then they will really suffer from two or three back to back shock attacks and there wonīt be much left of the 2nd USMC division and Co. If they have to retreat only once, then they will arrive at Derby with more than 75% of their strenght and thatīs definetely not what I want to see.

It will take weeks to march to Wyndham and my troops will have time to recover, I guess they will bring at least 10% of their troops back to strenght by then. With the 100% combat ready troops to be landed after Darwin falls I will have a clear superiority in troops in this region so I want to end that adventure asap.

Sorry, I thought Miller had lost 3-4 US CVs.

Waiting for the next report.

Unfortunately not, the four Brit CVs all took a couple of 800kg AP bombs and IIRC it was Lexington that was hit by three torps and had to travel a thousand miles to the next port but still made it. In total numbers of carrier based ac we have superiority but as you know we have that hr about not more than 450 carrier based ac in a hex. So a carrier clash would be 1:1 at the moment and thatīs not what I really want to do, not without LBA support. I guess the Allied would come out far better when we would go 1:1 against their CVs. They have better fighters, better bombers, better flak and better damage control.

Japanese ground losses:
1936 casualties reported
Guns lost 26

Allied ground losses:
2486 casualties reported
Guns lost 33
Vehicles lost 13

when looking at the combat replay then I still can see the 2nd USMC division being nearly at full combat strenght and that is becoming shocking for me. All the casualties we inflict seem to be within the couple of units in the lead and the USMC division is only the 7th or 8th unit in the stack. Not good, not good. Our troops arenīt dirupted at all, they will deliberate attack again tomorrow. Then I will again think about the shock attack.

Miller is curious how my Australia adventure will play out and Iīve told him that I will conquer Australia. His reply was that Iīm surely aware of that he has far more assault value on the continent than me, just spread out. Well, I know I canīt conquer the whole continent and thatīs of course not what I want, target was and still is the bases in Northern Australia.

the deliberate attack today only cost the Allied some 60 assault points. Thatīs because only the already wrecked units in the lead more or less took losses.

Miller forgot to reset his 4Es and they flew a naval attack from Derby today. They tried to attack shipping that was heavily capped by land and CV based fighters. Unfortunately the B-17s turned back due to low morale, otherwise Iīm sure they would have all been shot down... this time we saw a surprising high loss rate of B-17s crashing after the replay...

to my surprise, the enemy defenses at Darwin collapsed today. This means my tanks now have to pursue the retreating troops and hopefully they will be fast enough. I guess they should as the enemy is non motorized but moves on the railway south. Of course itīs strange anyway that motorized troops on rails should be faster... but thatīs how WITP ground movement works...

we scored 248 points for ground losses today, now at 17.706!

this is the first step to a big success. We take the first base and doing this for nearly no costs when we think about what we have lost. Guess there were not more than 6 ships sunk (merchants) and perhaps one and a half damaged (merchants). Aircraft losses were light (except one attack on Lautern) and my combat ships didnīt take any combat damage. They accumulated insane sys damage from the high speed runs though. Many of my cruisers and destroyers are between 10 and 20 sys points. The BBs are all around 10 too, only KB is still in good shape. If there isnīt something really going wrong we will have time to get our ships repaired anyway.

congratulation on your victorious air and land battles of the last days. and finaly, your CAP was something that realy earny this name. i imagnine what 300 japs fighters could do in a MOD with a better air combat engine or even in stocks!

you surely plan to conquer the entire N aussie coast and eliminate the surrounded enemy at timor, or?

it of course was a gamble to set my bombers to attack today as Miller could have flown 200 fighters back to Lautern but as he spotted my TFs near Lautern he couldnīt been sure if not one would have enough ammo to do another bombardment, so there was no real Cap. The Cap knocked down two of my Oscar IIs (first combat of this aircraft type and Iīm not really excited about it) but then the 331 Helen do enough damage to destroy a good number of enemy fighters on the ground. Not a great hit rate but ok as...

I made a BIG mistake this turn again as instead of setting my fighters from Dili to sweep I clicked on LRCAP... stupid me, could have turned out to be a disaster, but I was lucky...

and another one from New Guinea... this should finish most of the rest of the damaged fighters on the airfield...

with this attack, the enemy has lost some 140-150 fighters on Lautern, we lost some 100 fighters/bombers due to his ambush and together with todayīs attacks... I can hardly live with it but I canīt change it. What hurts are the pilot losses (aircraft are no problem). Miller ranted about his low fighter replacements but Iīve told him that from my Allied experience he will have more than enough of them soon and with the upcoming 5:1 kill rates of his fighters I would have to produce 3000 fighters each month (and I would still lack the pilots).

thanks. The Cap over Koepang was enough to be unpenetrable by the 4 dozen 4Es in two attacks but as soon as real number show up again...

in stock such a Japanese Cap level would take down 200 4Es so while Iīm not 100% happy with the mod (you will never be 100% happy, thatīs not possible IMO) it works far better than stock. Fighter vs bomber looks good, also fighter vs fighter, you only have the problem that you now canīt defend your airfields at all as so many bombers will get through and you donīt get your fighters into the air (as the Japanese, the Allied gets them all into the air).

yeah, plan is to take all four bases in Northern Australia and then starve the 22 units on Timor. After building up the defenses in Northern Australia will then attack Lautern. The question will be if we will be able to take all four bases and if I will have the time to first starve and then finish off the Allied on Timor. If both things will work then this will be one of my biggest victories in my personal history of playing WITP.

my tank units (and some divs) were fast enough to get after the retreating units from Darwin. The shock attack of the tanks (the inf units deliberate attacked) had no problems to force the enemy to retreat again. The only downside is the fact that ALL but one unit that retreated from Darwin were caught today. The damned 2nd USMC division moved out of the hex already. Seems like the unit is moving at 60 miles per day... damn it, I have to catch the damned unit... the other dozen units are toast now anyway...

this isnīt really surprising... Miller moved hundreds of bombers to Wyndham to launch a big strike on Darwin. Out of 160 Tojos set to 90% Cap we see 90 in the air. More than 50% so hey, thatīs a huge success...

The Lightnings proved to be extremely hard to down, even if being shot from behind it takes four or more times to finally see one going down. What helped us is the fact that the Allied bounce (yeah, of course the escorts got the bounce again) was over soon and we even got the bounce against the P-38 later on. The bombers of course were unstoppable and in the end we trade nearly one fighter destroyed on the ground for one bomber shot down. The only good thing is the fact that we only lost 8 pilots today so my sentais stay quite experienced. The P-38 squadrons turned back soon due to low morale, non of the bomber turned back but this attack with so many damaged and shot down bomber should have put a dent into the enemyīs morale. We were lucky as first we got a message of a bomber squadron missing Darwin, so in fact I guess there were far more bomber ordered to attack. What was shocking was the attack alt. This is a good example that even in Nikmod the Allied still can do the usual 6000ft attack as weīre used to from stock. Thereīs a LOT of flak at Darwin. At the end of the day the airfield is 70% and the base 55% damaged. I gambled and moved in more Tojos (hundreds!) to Darwin and set them to fly Cap. We have 384 aircraft at Darwin now, except 9 DinahIII all are Tojos. If the airfield is operational (I guess so as itīs a level 8 airfield so 70% shouldnīt be enough to close it) and the bomber will show up again tomorrow then they will get trashed - hopefully. If the airfield is closed and the bomber show up, I will lose nearly 400 Tojos!

once again you can see what HUGE difference it makes when the Allied player can see the Japanese air transfers... Itīs not just that you get an airfield symbol he can also immediately see "fighter/bomber/aux" and the numbers for each type. So in this case he yesterday saw only my 27 patrols at the base, then I ordered to fly in fighters... and hurrey, he can immediately see them (even if he only gives orders for the NEXT day when my fighters will fly in). Result is that his Tomahawks and Mitchells are not flying training runs anymore... S T U P I D.... no, TOTALLY STUPID... AE will change that.... thanks... Cap level was something like 40%

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

we pursued the enemy troop stack yesterday and guess what! To my total shock, the 2nd USMC divisions again moved 60!!!! miles today. With the shock/pursue of my tank units we can move 60 miles a day, but the 2nd USMC division is still moving faster. Never seen that but WITP is always up for a surprise. Thatīs bad news, if we donīt catch that div it will really strenghten the defense of Wyndham. The tanks are now 2 hexes in front of my inf units, I told Miller I wonīt move further away than 4 hexes so we will see if we can catch the Marines...

interesting recon: a US Army division is moving North on the rail. Only one div spotted, now some 700 miles South of Darwin. Moving in one div would be great, I could kill it off with my tanks on the rail...

what also will be interesting is what will he be able to bring North that is coming from Perth. Are there British troops evacuated from India?

I hope you'll catch the 2nd USMC, but I'm doubtful.  Stupid ground war engine indeed.

Iīve never seen a unit moving that fast. And thatīs even more amazing as the unit was forced to retreat from Darwin so fatigue and disruption must have been high. And it still moves faster or as fast as 60 miles a day...

the two BB TFs will head down to Darwin. Thereīs only 6000 tons of fuel but the ships are nearly topped off anyway so they will replenish their ammo and hold position there. I just want some heavy naval assets in the area as long as we bring in TFs full of troops. Two divs, eng rgts, base forces, etc. are being moved in in the next couple of days...

OMG! Yesterday there were nearly 60 bombers shot down with another 160 or so damaged, today we see a 378 bomber strike. Adding the 12 Lightnings and the 4 Catalinas we see 394 aircraft coming in from Wyndham, a level 8 airfield. I expected to see something like 200 bombers max today but obviously Miller must have swapped out a couple of squadrons with the damaged bomber moved out via rail or he really overstacked the airfield (and I seriously doubt that as we have the stacking hr and I trust him not to break it).

Anyway, our Cap levels were pathetic so to say (when thinking about the total number of fighters here). We were far below 50% again, Cap levels were set to 90%, 15.000ft. Morale wasnīt really a factor for the Allied agressors, most of the escorts turned back though. In total we have seen perhaps 70 bomber turn back but more than 200 dropped their bombs, this times from 10.000ft and not 6.000ft like yesterday. I proved to be stupid though as I moved out most of my AA units by accident. My fighters didnīt even do bad but we canīt stop such a strike. In the end my fighter force is hit hard but so are the bombers. We take advantage of the fact that Miller still uses his obsolete Blenheim bombers. They are easier to down then the Lightnings. The 4Es are of course nearly not to down at all when coming in mixed with other types. Note that there are also British Liberators in this attack already. But Miller canīt have enough Wellington and Libs at all as otherwise he wouldnīt use those useless Blenheims. I wouldnīt use them, doesnīt make sense, either use US Mitchells or Marauders but not British Blens. Not using them in this attack would surely have meant to lose 15-20 bomber less.

At the end of the turn the airfield is 73% and the base 88% damaged. Yesterday it was 70%/55% and my fighters took off. So I guess the field will be operational also tomorrow and we have crated a lot of Tojo sentais onto AKs that were at Darwin, leaving for Amboina. The empty field was filled with some Tojos (donīt have many operational sentais left... ), more than 100 Zeroes, a sentai Oscar II (that canīt do much against the bomber with a gun value of 4 ) and KB will take position two hexes off Darwin to fly LRCAP with A6M3a. In total I hope to see more than 200 fighters in the air tomorrow. Using KBīs daitais to fly LRCAP is a big risk though as Miller could have yet again super timing and set his bombers to nav attack tomorrow. Today, my TFs around Darwin werenīt spotted as there arenīt a lot of Allied patrols around in this area anymore but who knows. It will be risky tomorrow. With the damage done to the Allied bomber fleet today I hope to turn them back tomorrow - if they decide to attack again. We have over 600 eng at the base, more to come. Darwin is a level 8 airfield so itīs hard to knock out but once it is heavily damaged it also takes a long time to being repaired again. The only reason Iīm even defending it against air attacks is the fact that I have to cap my TFs when unloading at the base. If my defenses will collapse tomorrow then we will have to withdraw my TFs out of LBA range.

The only good thing in this situation at the moment is the fact that Darwin is 7 hexes from Wyndham. This means that there wonīt be "short" legged (5 hexes) Allied escorts and the medium bombers will drop "only" their reduced load. Weīre in perfect striking range of the 4E monsters though.

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

as you can see thereīs not much left of the 10 Allied units. We end up one hex further South and are now at the crossroads South of Darwin. The 2nd USMC division vanished today! Recon tells us about 10 units in the same hex with our tanks but only very few guns and vehicles. So if the 2nd USMC div is now in this hex also, there should be more guns... and more troops. This also would mean one unit was destroyed today, didnīt get any info on that though. Tried to give a recon chutai order to recon the rail to the West and South but within four hexes thereīs no Allied unit. If the 2nd USMC div isnīt in the same hex tomorrow then it moved 4 or 5 hexes today which isnīt possible. Or it just vanished, which I doubt also. Hmmm... Of course it could also move out of the hex tomorrow again, just before we attack again - then we should be in the same hex in two days again... The enemy US Army div coming from the South is moving quite fast also, we should soon clash with this unit. If he really moves it in, then we will kill it off, would be a rather pityful move.

thatīs why Miller ordered his fighter bombers to fly a ground attack today. One of my divs is 80% disrupted so without those ground attacks we would have had a far higher adjusted av. Nevertheless it looks like weīre in a safe position here, the losses we took were mostly within our two leading AA units. I have a reserve div at Malir one hex SE of Karachi. The Allied troops here are not strong enough to dislodge us but we will have to do something to further secure our position in India. Problem is that this will take something like 7000 assault points to really be "strong" and make an Allied amphibious attempt a blood bath. Needless to say I donīt have 7000 av in India at the moment. Guess there are 3.500 there. We need more some more base forces and something 10 inf divs/bgds more to garisson the coastal bases and have reaction forces on hand. This is of course not possible at the moment. It would be possible if we could knock out the Russian. A possible attack on Russia can not happen within the next three months (this is what I estimate the time to finish off the Northern Australian bases - or when I will know that I have failed to do so). Finishing Russia would take another 6 months, marching from there to India another 3 months so we wouldnīt have "enough" troops in India before early 44. And all this is everything goes well...

Now this is interesting also, Miller is obviously evacuating troop fragments from Wyndham already. Those subs were at Wyndham last turn and are now heading West... Looks like heīs not really confident about holding his positions in Northern Australia! Thatīs great news!

Here are the total aircraft losses historiker has asked for. The Zero is in the lead but followed closely by the B-25C. Guess 95% of those Mitchells were lost over Timor or Northern Australia. Quite a lot lost if you think about a replacement rate of something liek 75/month from 1/42 on. But hey, there are also 30 Marauders, 50 or 60 4Es, Venturas, Wellingtons, etc. And of course the B-25J also entered production now. So there are more than enough Allied bomber, he just has to use different types instead of using only three or four models. Iīm sure that the Tojo will soon be the number one on this list when we will lose hundreds of them on the ground and it will our fighter that will be used the most until the Tony shows up (earliest mid 43, now still at 9/43).

Whatīs interesting also is the ratio of the total number lost and op losses of each type, which clearly reflects my feeling that Allied aircraft rarely suffer op losses even if dozens of them are damaged during their operations. My aircraft fall out of the sky just from two hex transfers, which is extremly obvious when you look at the Sally and Helen.

hehe. This round went to the Japanese. We only launched 129 land based fighters, which means Cap percentage was once again totally crappy but we had an insane number of carrier based fighters on LRCAP in the hex. This must have been something like 90% of my carrier based fighters and thatīs absolutely amazing as they are coming in from two hexes range. The damned P-38s bounced us (yet again we were flying higher than the escorts and itīs over our own base ), shot down two of our fighters and after 4 were damaged they turned back due to low morale. Then our fighters dropped down on the bomber formations.

The Tojos didnīt do much, totally amazing was the performance of the undergunned OscarIIs as they shot down several enemy bombers (including a Liberator VI). I was crazy enough to watch the whole replay of this engagment, so I spent over an hour to watch this airbattle (in Nikmod with mostly damaged aircraft it takes far longer than stock) and for the first 40 min it didnīt look like the enemy bombers would turn back and this was pretty much frightening. They attacked for the third day in a row and there were mostly the same bomber groups involved so I was amazed that their morale still was so high. But then they started to turn back in small number, I still had a bad feeling. After an hour or so, there were some 50 bombers left so I expected to still lose 50+ fighters on the ground. What made it to the target in the end? 2 Wellingtons and an obsolete Blenheim. And those three bombers destroyed 6 Tojos on the ground...

Nevertheless it was a big victory over the Allied bomber armada today. I doubt they will show up again tomorrow. Once again it was an all out maximum effort to defend just this one single base. And to be honest, it didnīt look like I could defend it against the more or less unescorted bombers. I nearly employed 80% of my IJA fighters, more than 100 land based Zeroes and nearly 200 carrier based Zeroes. In total we surely saw nearly 1000 of my fighters fighting over Darwin in the last three days. Guess something like 600 Tojos are now crated on AKs on their way to bases in Northern New Guinea (Western in reality...).

Note the loss rate of the B-17 once again...

My troop convoys can now unload unharmed at the base as Iīm sure the enemy bombersī morale is now so low that they would be turned back. At the end of the day, the airfield was 100% repaired and the service facilities were down to 17% damage. Got nearly 1000 eng at the base now and they repair even this huge airbase in no time. KB will now be ordered to Darwin and dock there.

what the hell? God damn it! The gamesī routing of task forces is bad enough and you should check all your TFs daily to make sure they go where you want them to go. Unfortunately for me, this also is true for the ground movement. There was the troop stack of the units that took Chengtu and they were set to march East again. All my troops moved one hex EAST today and this bgd moved SOUTH and shock attacked into Chungking! The unit is down to 42/90 and has 24 assault points left! What a f*cking sh*tty crap...

look at the enemyīs adjusted av... insane, I guess I have never seen such an adjusted av before in WITP. And you shouldnīt forget that the enemy is starving here already, losing a dozen assault points each day. With full supply I guess the adjusted av would be over 100.000.

This happening was the downside of this dayīs turn...

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

we keep on kicking around what is left of the ten units that were retreating a couple of times already... 2nd USMC div is still faster than our troops shock attacking / pursuing 60 miles a day...

there are now two US Army divs moving North on the railway. Two are not enough for an offensive on Darwin. Two helping to defend Wyndham would be a problem for us though. But we have our forces already between Wyndham and Darwin so the Allied coming from the South canīt move to Wyndham without fighting their way through.

Urban hex, fort level 9, preparation probably at 100%... no wonder the Chinese get such a high adjusted AV at Chungking, even without supply enough.  't would probably need all of China Expeditionary and Kwangtung Commands to crack that nut.  And even then...

an ouch day...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 02/10/43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Tarawa at 85,91

Japanese Ships
MSW Shonan Maru #7, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
MSW Shonan Maru #8
MSW Seki Maru #3
MSW Noshiro Maru #2
MSW Mejima Maru
MSW Kaiyo Maru #1

Allied Ships
SS Seal

small MSWs are the same throw away weapon like Allied PTs are... the only difference is that Allied PTs are dangerous and IJN MSWs are totally useless, at least the small ones. Ah, yes. A sub in a base hex...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Darwin at 36,84

Japanese Ships
CV Hiryu, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
DD Mikazuki
DD Nagatsuki
DD Kikuzuki
DD Fumizuki
DD Minazuki

Allied Ships
SS Shad, hits 3

and hey ho, another spotted sub in a base hex succesfully attacks a heavily escorted task force. And this time it HURTS! This is not FOW, this is a hit! The CV even suffers a fuel storage explosion and you can imagine that this isnīt fun. Only 5 DDs show up here, but KB is escorted by 9 DDs. Hiryu wonīt sink but isnīt able to launch aircraft at the moment. Sys 34, flt 40, fire 23. Darwin is a level 6 port and Iīm sure Hiryu will be pumped out there but with 23 fires I guess the carrier will end up with something like 50 sys damage. Means this ship is out of the war for at least 6 months. And of course this now means we have to defend Darwin now even more against Allied bomber attacks. We have to keep the port secure at all costs. Damn it...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASW attack near Kendari at 33,71

Japanese Ships
DD Minegumo
DD Natsugumo
DD Arashio

Allied Ships
SS Amberjack, hits 7

one hit, 6 near misses. Later on Amberjack was once hit by a Helen and another time by a Jake and sunk! Banzai! Cause given in the sunk ship list was a 250kg AP bomb hit. With so many subs in this area we got a lot of attacks today, we have set our Helens in the area to 20% nav search, also KBīs Vals and Kates are flying 10% nav search. Donīt want to use the vacuum cleaner 100% nav search tactic though.

Miller has set his bombers to nav search also (percentage unknown but it looks like itīs quite high) and he spotted every single TF in this area today, putting several bombs into supply and troop ships, as well as on one of my RO-class subs. Wyndham Derby and Broome are heavily capped so attacking those bases with long range IJN bombers is no option at the moment. Especially as we spot more and more Corsairs on Cap... say good bye air superiority...

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 57

Aircraft Attacking:
18 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 11000 feet

those Helens are coming from Dili and this is an advantage now for us. They only fly two hexes, suffer therefor less op losses and they drop a full bomb load...

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-25C Mitchell bombing at 6000 feet

oh boy... moved in Betties/Nells to attack the shipping at Tongatapu and set all my fighters on escort... hey, they didnīt launch of course and with a crappy hit rate of the Allied bombers they still torch 16 of my aircraft on the ground... I love it...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Tongatapu Island at 94,114

Japanese aircraft
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 32
Ki-49 Helen x 15

Allied aircraft

Allied Ships
APD Little, Bomb hits 9, on fire, heavy damage
AK Empire Steelhead, Bomb hits 1

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x Ki-49 Helen bombing at 3000 feet

Wallis island launched another small strike (20% of the bombers that are set to attack) and the Helens totally focus on APD Little, sinking the ship but leaving the rest of the dozen ships alone... we lose two Oscars this time... have moved the IJN bombers and fighters to Wallis also...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at 35,88

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 50047 troops, 126 guns, 2834 vehicles, Assault Value = 1713

Defending force 210 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 10

Japanese max assault: 3240 - adjusted assault: 2256

Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1

Japanese assault odds: 2256 to 1

Allied ground losses:
135 casualties reported

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

and the 2nd USMC division is STILL moving faster than we do... again it left the hex before our attack... only three hexes and the dreaded div arrived at Wyndham... moved something like 600 miles in ten days?

really a crappy day today...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Chungking

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 15192 troops, 148 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1524

no chance to take that hex and I donīt even intend to... they will just be kept in place and Iīm sure we can do that...

Indeed, the same factors play to your advantage too.

Defending force 210 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 10

Out of a total of 37000 troops at Darwin to start with, it's a nice reduction. Your VP for army losses must have nicely increased, right ?

yeah, thereīs not much left of those retreating troops, but you may not forget that the 2nd USMC division also was part of those troops at Darwin and it escaped after being forced to retreat one time. How many troops would that be? 10-15.000?

VP for Allied ground losses went through 18.000 a couple of days though...

Don't know why, but this picture remindes me of your situation
