Good day.

Here is a map I have recently completed detailing the southern Sinai, in particular the area around Sharm el-Sheikh.

This will be used for a scenario or two dealing with the 1956 capture of the area.

Enjoy!

Yes to full editors as they are now, map editor, oob editor and scenario editor.

Countries will be specific to the internal games (for example; you won't find Japan in Divided Ground) and deal with OOB's covering 1948 to 1985 where appropriate.

Thanks, Geomitrak!

It is small compared to the master Suez maps (1956 & 1973), but an interesting landscape nevertheless!

I will probably include the master maps within the game so people can use them as they see fit.

Sounds very promising indeed, Jason.

I'm still slowly crafting a Dien Bien Phu map, more as an exercise in map building than anything else. A wargamer in Hong Kong has visited the scene of the battle, and has been able to provide very useful information on the relative heights of strongpoints, the nature of the river, and so on.

So, I can appreciate the appeal of map building. It really is quite absorbing.

Regards

Paul

TOTALLY Different games.Well not totally, they are made both made by the big man himself-John Tiller but the campaign series is a platoon level game while Panzer/Modern Campaigns are operational.

Are there plans in the works...when Modern Wars is released for DCG's? To be more specific...if there will be a Korean and Vietnam DCG...covering the years...50-53....65-75?

I am just curious...as long as the framework is in place i can modify the oobs....just for my personal use.

so there will be only LGs? If so is there any rough idea how many campaigns (give or take) will the game ship with?

Questions:

After Modern Wars Vol I, will vol. II be a stand-alone expansion(or totally different game) or be an expansion that requires vol. I to play?

(Vol I and II)What is the time frame?

Vol I and II together, will be able to play any battle anywhere in the world with nice selection of countries like JTCS?

Volume II will be a stand-alone game much as Volume I will be to the WW2 Campaign Series.

They will each have separate countries, as they are dealing with different battles, campaigns, wars, although there will be some limited overlap.. most countries will be unique to each game.

Stupid question, but will Vietnam cover both the Indochina war (france vs the Viet Minh) and The US Involvment?
It would be fun to include some Chinese units for both possible intervention in the American War and the 1979 "incident" with Vietnam.....

All three conflicts will be represented although most of the scenarios will be revolving around the US involvement.

Dumb question on my part.

First I first played EF from Talonsoft when it first came out and also got the CD1 expansion. I never did any PBEM and then I moved away from the game.

Just recently I have got JTCS and am totally emersed in it now and am very excited about it.

Is the Modern Wars (Vol. I and II) going to be a new Matrix product or a patch for the JTCS?

Thank you.

Modern Wars is a new product. JTCS and Modern Wars will require two different installations.

Unfortunately, we are going to miss the Easter planned release.

The blame is mine alone as I am in the middle of redoing the order of battles, country structures and many of the graphics.

Here is a general list of things that need to be completed prior to release:

1. Finish restructuring countries (these are mostly for the Middle East offering: Israel, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordon, etc) The Vietnam countries OOBs are pretty much good to go as the intended revisions are complete. While this is only one item, it is a HUGE task and takes a lot of time to complete properly.

2. Finish revising 3D graphics. Mike and I have been spending a lot of time updating and revising many of the graphics for consistency or just replacing some that were "unacceptable". Below is a sample of a new helicopter for the Modern Wars (Bell 206).

3. Ensure Unittext and f2 pictures are collected, formatted and complete

4. Revise existing scenarios with new units and unit ID's.

5. Format existing scenarios for consistency.

6. Complete playtesting of existing scenarios.

7. Complete new scenarios for inclusion, playtesting.

These are the major items, there are a number of minor items as well.

I'm still averaging a good 5 hours a day on this and will continue to do so until it is done.

It's coming.. and soon.. just not as soon as I hoped!

Thanks!  Looks great!

Any chance of throwing the Falklands into Modern Wars II?  Great Britain would already be in the OOB, but I'm not so sure about Argentina.
