No.... you must both use the new version... but it worth it... this version should fix the PBEM and VCR bugs. David

David: I'm confused--if we start a PBEM game in 4.3b, and both players upgrade to 4.4, can we continue the game? Thanks

No - the new version splits the VCR data off so there is an additional file .rec that holds the VCR data (and allows it to be zipped to a high percentage) allowing up ot 20MB of replay data and zip to about 5-8% of that so the biggiest possible game with every unit firining should not overload the buffer. Moderate sized secure pbem games should now be much smaller when zipped. The closest we can come for now to inline compresion...but the game must be started in the new version or the VCR won't work.
