Is there any method (during the game) to bring to separate units (battalions, regiments, etc.) together at one place on the map. It seems my divisions get spread out, and if I want to bring them all back to HQ unit I have to around and individually move each unit. Is there an "assemble together" command?

There are no formation movements in TOAW. You can only move a stack of units from one specific location.
So keep your formations together and assemble them before marching to battle if they arrive piecemeal.
