I loaded up some transports at Cairns with the 7th Aus Div and sent the fleet to Lae to launch a landing. The fleet capacity wasn't quite big enough so about half of the 25th Brigade was left in Cairns. During the landings, the transports were attacked by Japanese aircraft and several were damaged, Because of their orders the fleet started to pull away from Lae.

I ordered them to go back and finish unloading, except for one AP which was in danger of sinking. I ordered the crippled AP to unload at Finschafen, which was the closest land. It unloaded a small part of the 25th Brigade (about 15 squads)

The main landing was completed and the rest of the 25th Brigade was unloaded at Lae.

That meant I had parts of the 25th Brigade at Cairns, Lae and Finschafen. I used C-47s to move the part of the Brigade in Cairns to Lae and I got the popup message to say that sub-units of the 25th Brigade were merging.

When I checked during the next orders phase, the 25th Brigade had vanished from both Cairns and Lae and all that remained was the 15 squads in Finschafen.

I checked the list of land units for the theatre and the only mention of the 25th Brigade was the 15 squads at Finschafen.

So I am guessing alien abduction or serious bug. Anyone else have a similar problem?

More info for the bug-fixers.

I twice reloaded the previous turn and ran it again. Same thing happened so it was repeatable.

Then in a moment of inspiration I reloaded again and ordered the 15 squads to march to Lae. This time the merging worked and I have the buk of the 25th in Lae and the 15 squads in Finschafen but marching to Lae.

Don't know why that made a difference but I have my own long and sometimes painful history of debugging so I thought that info might help isolate the problem.
