In Europe, not many. Almost all ANZAC forces went to the Middle east/Northern Afrika...

The Australian army did not go to Europe, only the RAAF did to my knowledge.

Plus this whole ANZAC thing is just lazy :D  The ANZACs officially ceased to exist around 1916 I believe.

2 NZ Division/Corps. The Australian troops went home in 1942.

There were also a handful of Aussie Corvettes helping with the invasion of Sicily, and doing general escort work, etc.

9th Australian Div was the last Australian major formation in middle east and it returned to Australia after El Alamein in late 42

2nd NZ Div served all the way through from to end 45 in either Africa or Italy

I am not 100% sure if all the Australians serving on Commandos/LRDG's or all of the support units went back straight away but certainly the major combat units did go back to Australia

well:
Aussues had 4 infantry and 1 armored divisions equiped designed for overseas deployment as 2nd Australian Imperial Force (the rest were militia):
6th division - North Africa (Dec 40 - Apr 41), Crete, Syria-Lebanon, Ceylon (march-july 1942), New Guinea
7th division - Siege of Tobruk, Australia (jan 1942), New Guinea
8th division - 2 brigades at Malaya, 23rd brigade at Rabaul, Timor, Ambon - destroyed, never reconstructed
9th division - North Africa, until 24th jan 1943, then australia and New Guinea.
1st armored division -defended australia.
No big ground unit served overses in 1943.
New Zealand fielded 2 infantry divisions:
2nd NZ infantry division - served in North Africa, then italy
3rd NZ infantry division - served in pacific.

so no significant ground units participated in europe in1943

Yes the ANZAC Division ceased to exist after the Gallipoli campaign and New Zealand built-up its own division which went on to France to be slaughtered. But many Kiwis consider the ANZAC name more of a spirit of cooperation, While most Aussies fell that we are an annoying little Country that doesn’t pull its weight.

Well no, it's just amusing to hear of the Anzacs marching along the Kokoda Track, or slogging through Italy.

I feel it somewhats steals history from both nations.

2nd New Zealand Infantry Division

4th NZ Armoured Bde (3 Armd Bns & 1 Mot Inf Bn)
5th NZ Infantry Bde (3 Inf Bns)
6th NZ Infantry Bde (3 Inf Bns)
NZ Divisional Cav Rgt
3 x Fd Rgts
1 x AT Rgt
1 x AA Rgt
etc

They did form another Infantry Bde in late 44 or early 45 from the Div Cav Rgt & other bits and pieces

The only Australian Army units in Europe at any time were 18 Infantry Bde which went to England in 1940 and 25 Infantry bde which was formed in England from reos & bits & pieces plus 6th Infantry Division which along wh=ith the New Zealand Div & 1 British Armd Bde went to Greece in 1941.

I've always felt that there was a strong relationship between OZ & NZ, something like them being your little brother.

Being lumped in as an ANZAC is a big improvement on how Australians were treated in both WW1 & 2. To the Brits in WW1 any Aussie victory was "Won by Empire Troops" or the US in WW2 it was "An Allied Victory"

After Gallipoli, the links continued, Australian Divisions fought with the New Zealand Division in the same Corps in France (I & II ANZAC Corps) and the NZ Mounted Rifle Bde fought with the Australian Light Horse in the Sinai & Palestine.

In WW2, 6th Australian & The New Zealand Division went to Greece & Crete together, 9th Australian & The EnZeds fought together at El Alamein.

In Korea a NZ Field Rgt supported the Commonwealth Division which included Australian Bns.

In Vietnam, some of the RAR Bns had a NZ Infantry Company attached eg; 8 RAR/NZ Bn plus NZ SAS troops were part of the ASAS Rgt.
