This is a scen 15 campaign VS JonReb, i am of course, the Allies. ill be trying something new to make this worth reading, as im notorious for using the old plain combat report format

Allied damage control = on
Hist 1st turn = yes
Vary Setup = off
Dec 7 suprise = on

--No submarine invasions (but allowed to transport/evacuate troops to bases already owned),
--Chinese, Dutch, and Canadian troops cannot leave their own theatre of war without PP points spent.
--Pilot training only on Real targets(Ex: no empty bases),
--4Engine bombers no less than 10,000 altitude for naval attacks,
--No more than 30,000 troops on atolls,
--Transporting/assaulting troops from the air should be only done from base to base,
--No more than 6 ships in an ASW TF.

MAIL CALL! MAIL CALL!!!

Tanabe Kasume looked up from his magazine as Quartermaster 3rd class John Martin tossed a letter his way, catching it easily as he had every other and ripped it open.

Dear brother Kasume,

Today i went to the Navy recruiting office in Hiroshima. I know youll be angry with me, but i feel that war is coming, and im sure you dont want me to be drafted into the Imperial Army, so i joined the Imperial Navy. I tried to book passage on a ship to America, but father wouldnt let me. I leave for training in a few hours. Please dont be angry with me, or worry. I'll be fine one way or another. I only pray we dont end up facing each other in combat, i couldnt bear it. I will write again soon

Kenji

Dear brother Kasume,

I am making a diary of letters for you, since i am not allowed to write out. My first day of training was not at all what i expected. The training is brutal, and so are the instructors we have. when you do not complete a task quickly enough, you are beaten. Thankfully i learned fast, but not fast enough to avoid several blows to my head. Like you always said i have a thick head, now i am truly grateful for it. I am exhausted and sore, but i dare not show it. One man who collapsed was nearly beaten to death! I must admit i am frightened, but I am determined to see this through. The instructors are merciless, and they tell us that war with the west is coming someday. I hope they are wrong. I'm beginning to wonder if i made the right decision, or if I should have just gone to America without father's permission. But there is nothing i can do about that now. If i was caught, im sure the consequences would be, unpleasant at the least. I will continue to write to you, im sure i will be able to send these letters when my training is over, they tell us it will be on December 7th.

Kenji

im not sure if this is gonna work guys, im no cuttlefish

if you havent realized it by now, JonRebs location gave me the idea for this AAR. as he lives in the south, it has a bit of a civil war tinge to it. hence also the title and the theme, brother against brother in an epic and tragic war.

ill also try and include as much detail as possible ala John 3rds AAR

Good luck marky. I know it is a lot of work to write an AAR in this manner.

My dear brother Kenji,

I havent gotten a letter from you in a while. Though I am of course worried, i can only assume that you arent being allowed to write while in training. So i will make a diary of letters for you. I think something is going on. Were doing alot more training and gunnery drills. I guess things must be getting worse between America and Japan. Our captain made a speech and said that if it came to war, we would fight until we couldnt fight anymore and kill as many of "the enemy" as we could. There was alot of cheering from the rest of the crew, but i couldnt bring myself to join them. Im not thrilled at the possibility of killing other Japanese, and i dread even more running into you if war does break out. When i was in high school i heard a story of the American civil war. During a battle a rifleman on the Union or non slave side, sighted an enemy, a "Confederate" across a field. He took aim with his rifle, and fired, and the man dropped. He ran over to him, and saw that it was his own son, and he died in his fathers arms. I dont want to even try to imagine what it must have been like. I know for sure id rather die than raise a hand against you brother. But i must go now, they are calling another drill.

Kasume

im making the usual moves in china, pushing troops forward. and im pulling back in Burma and preparing defenses and airfields. wish i had more engineers.

the convoy in the south with an artillery unit is being landed at Canton. Its the closest, and if Jon makes a move in the South, hell definitely go for Canton for that potential airfield.

gettin hammered all over the map.

BUT. Lex and Enterprise are intact and heading south to "safety"

jons landing all over the place, he fast transported in an attack force at the admiralties. northern luzon is his, all i can do is slow him down. he did get shoved back at legaspi with heavy casualties though. Malaya is a bright spot though, got plenty of infantry holding taiping, for now, and lots of torp bombers there with fighter escort.

hes slaughtering the ships escaping from manila. not unexpected though id hoped to save them. but then theyll be replaced by dozens more

hes on the move everywhere. theres invasion forces heading for borneo now too.

the damage to the fleet at Pearl is massive, though it looks like the only ships to sink are the West Virginia and PT-24. but none of the battleships at Pearl will be returning to duty any time soon. 12 ships are severely damaged and in the red but flooding is down, and theyll make it. 12 other ships are damaged. he really gave the fleet a bloody nose. but. i can take it, he cant. looks like he lost about 30+ planes from KB. excellent. in the weeks and months to come ill make sure that figure rises higher and higher and ill turn the islands into flak traps for KB.

then ill smash it

HIJMS Akagi
Central Pacific

Dear brother Kasume,

How so much has changed in the last few months! I regret i havent been keeping up with my writing very well, but I have of course been busy. I was so proud when they assigned me to the Akagi. But if someone had told me that within three months of my joining the Imperial Navy, that we would be at war, i would have laughed him off. Though i knew there was the possibility of war, i never imagined it would really happen. And now, we've caused so much suffering and death. I keep thinking about the men on the american ships at Hawaii. I cant get them out of my head, though I was relieved when the American carriers werent there. I remember you told me youre on one, Enterprise. I wonder where you are, if youre okay, i hope you are. I'm glad but ashamed to say that my duties keep me busy enough so that alot of the time youre out of my mind, so i dont have to worry if something has happened to you. I hope this war ends soon, but i fear it will drag on for years. But youll be happy to know that i met a girl in Kure, shes quite nice and from a proud and strong family, shes on my mind most of the time i have to say. But i must attend to my duties again, i will write again later.

Kenji

USS Enterprise
Northwest of Palmyra

Dear brother Kasume,

Japan struck Pearl Harbor a few days ago. Thankfully we were out at sea, and Saratoga was at San Diego. I heard the damage is severe, and that the battleship West Virginia was sunk. Im not looking forward to going back. Theres alot of anger about the attack, it was a sneak attack! Japan declared war well after the attack on Pearl Harbor took place. Dishonorable to attack a sleeping man with no help to defend himself! Even in war there are rules! Though we suffered greatly i hear we sank one of the enemy carriers! If it is true i pray you were not aboard. But then so many rumors are going about. From what i hear were getting hurt bad all over the Pacific. I have to say i cant wait to hit back, but then im reminded of you and my thoughts soften a bit. I pray our chance to hit back comes soon, but i pray that you are safe.

Kasume
