This is just a very early report...I've only played a handful of single battles and previewed one of the Ops.
Some notes:

    * Nice work on the night battles! Finally battles in the dark in CC! The night explosion effects, illuminations and flames are a nice touch (albeit a bit crude).
BTW, CC3 (West Front mod, IIRC) had night battles with darkened map graphics and specially made "night elements" file (without graphical effects of course)...I'm asuming that now in CCTLD the exe is handling the the elements adjustments for night battles?
    * I like the new CCMT style Team Icons artwork...simple but easy to understand and get used to!
    * VLs for Allies = US Flag...but CCTLD doesn't only cover the US Utah sector anymore.
    * What happened to the realistic weapons artwork that S3T used in CCWAR? Now we're back to using the old CC5 weapons artwork (ugly Kar98k and M1 Garand!)
    * The uniforms are from stock CC5 (with Brit uniforms from GJS mod), I'm used to using the cc5uniformmod for realistic/historic US and German uniforms...and they're a lot better than the stock CC5 US and German uniforms used in CCTLD.
The AFVs and vehicles have been reworked with historical camo schemes, but the uniforms were somewhat overlooked...I guess the developers prefer to play with the tiny soldiers mod?
    * The interface is still locked with black borders...I'm getting used to this...but players should be able to choose between full screen stretched or in a tiny box. The interface for Classic CC5 included in CCTLD is so tiny displayed with huge black borders at 1600x* (locked at 800x600?)...I hope interface for mods won't all look like this.
    * I've also noticed a few minor overlooked details:
    - Only 1 type of Stens (graphically = Sten MkII)...so Brit Paras are shown using Sten MkII instead of MkV. Also Brit Para Officers using Enfield Revolver instead of Colts.
    - US AB using M1 Carbine instead of M1A1 Carbine,
    - Osttruppen Russian weapons should use their German designations.
    - US AB gun crews wearing army uniforms
    - There were new ranks graphics for US AB in CCWAR...with khaki M42 uniforms...these were out of place in CCWAR (US AB should be wearing green M43 by this time)...but should be used in CCTLD. The current CCTLD US AB ranks graphics are stock green uniforms (same as Army).

Okay...thanks for all your work and efforts with CCTLD, guys!
Now I've got to get back to my men and try to get them off the damned beaches!

I noticed that the AB rank graphics from WAR did not make it in TLD as well.  I knew that AB were 'supposed' to be wearing the M43 by WAR, but the M42 was shown just to set them apart from regular army.  Alot of the airborne guys were not happy about having to wear the M43 like the regular army and did not turn in their M42 jumpsuits.  I agree that they need to be back in.

we had a couple of long discussions on this and agreed to keep the M42 as that's what the paras liked and many wore though it was not official.

Wow...I've just finished my first batch of night battles (82nd AB Ops as Allies).
The AI is tough! Kinda reminds me of the sneaky and aggressive CC2 AI...nice!
CCWAR's AI is better than CC4-CC5...but tends to attack and manouver aimlessly at times...and the AI loves to leave cover and charge at the wrong time.
CCTLD's AI manouvers a lot too...but with more purpose (to out manouver you, to get better shooting angles, moving from building to building etc).
I was caught off guard by unexpected VL grabs by the AI a few times...sneaky bastard!
Still...when playing as defending Germans (with an infantry only BG)...the AI is a bit too aggressive sending out patrols.
Twice also my poor AB boys were driven back and almost decimated by coordinated counterattacks featuring a couple of StuGs + strong infantry support!
Instead of rolling over the German AI and capturing VLs with ease in regular (and modded) CC5...I find myself just inching from 1 VL to the next one...hoping to have enough men to hold the VLs against the next counterattack.  Most of the time I have to give the retreat order...scrambling to make a stand elsewhere.

The "Girlie Soldiers AI" is still with us...but seems more refined this time. Infantry squads don't abort movement too easily when under fire...and they also try to automatically retreat to cover much faster now.
Still a problem with AFVs though...when they're in trouble...you got to nurse them back to cover manually with multiple mouse-clicks...while fighting the constant "movement aborted" behaviour.
Maybe AFVs in trouble should also back-up and find cover automatically like infantry?

I'm having great fun with CCTLD...and the night battles and effects (although technically crude compared to modern games) are really a very nice addition! And we waited 10 years for this!

I've also found a few more minor detail glitches...I'll post my find over at CCS.

My understanding was the new standard was M43...even during Market Garden the AB were already wearing M43.
Many did not turn in their M42 uniforms...but in combat the official uniform was the M43.

Back to topic...the AB definitely wore M42 in Normandy...so the M42 ranks from WAR should be used in TLD.
I'm not sure about GIR though...IIRC they wore M43 in Normandy.

Hey...these little things are what makes the CC series so special
As for historical uniform schemes for our beloved tiny CC sprites...well...it's a fetish of mine

If I wanted to just play a fun WW2 game with fancy graphics and amazing explosions...I'd have picked Company of Heroes instead

Okay, here is another find for all you fetish guys. Single battle La Fiere causeway. 82nd Airborne BG: The leader has a M42 jumpsuit. Or can that be explained by this page?

However...these are "just" details. The game design, gameplay, in-game graphics, strat map and atmosphere (!) are great and CC TLD already has become my fav CC game. Thanks again to the developers and Matrix team for making this game. Im sure those small oversights will be corrected and all the of the AB will have AB uniforms.

@squadleader. You still play the AI?

P.S. I agree with you on CoH

@Korsun: I don't think the AB leader is wearing M42...looks like M43 with brownish color used in CCWAR. M43 in CCWAR come in 2 shades of color (olive drab and brown).

These little flaws in details must have gotten through the cracks in the rush to release CCTLD sos soon after CCWAR

Yep...I still play the AI a lot...less hassles of having to find opponents and fiddling with connection issues
CC5 (and the mods) vs the AI can still provide some challenge as long as you play as the attacker, but if you really must play as the defender...there are plenty of vetmods to boost the AI...making it more aggressive and numerous.
Too bad I haven't had time to experiment on vetmods for CCWAR (and the new CCTLD)...and make the improved AI even more nastier!

Some flaws do happen. Nothing new to games. Btw, the uniforms are not entirely from stock. The 12SS has some nice camo schemes.

Squadleader, I wrote you a PM.

I had a look at the workbook and it displays the wrong number for some AB units (e.g. 57mm gun) in column J which determines which uniform colour is used. This may be the problem.
