CTD In Utah Campaign - 5/6/2009 2:21:33 AM

I'm playing through the first turn of the Utah campaign, and I keep getting a CTD when I get to the last battle (Amfreville). It happens after I get the "Allies Attack" screen, but before the game can load the battle map. I went back to an earlier save (did better on some early battles, too!), but it comes up at the same place. Also, a quirk that may or may not help: when I reload after the crash, the option screen pops up and I have to put in my game speed/resolution again. Anyone notice anything like this? And is there a log generated so that we can troubleshoot these things ourselves? I looked through the directory and didn't find anything...

Thanks!

Stephen

This is the first report like this.  As you suggested it sounds like it's related to monitor settings somehow.   What do you have your resolution set at?

Also can you pass along the game file for us to look at in the off chance it's not related to monitor settings?

Thanks.

Interesting...I just put it Windowed mode and the battle loaded up fine. I'd like to get it working full-screen, but this will be a good stop-gap.

I notice this map is long, as opposed to square. I wonder if that's related?

I'm playing at 1440x900, the native resolution of my monitor. I'm PMing you the game file too if you want to take a look.

Thanks!

Good info Salwon.  Thanks for that.  Received the game file as well.  Thank you.  Will get back to you as soon as we can.

*edit*

Hey Salwon, actually it appears the PM system doesn't allow that kind of attachment. Only pics. So please attach the zipped game file to a post. Thanks

The system doesn't like zip uploads here, I'll try it in a PM.

Since this seems like the only CTD on record (good job QA!), I'll relist the specifics in case anyone has the same issue:

1) Utah Campaign, Amfreville map (Turn 1)
2) Playing 1440x900, full screen
3) CTD after "Allies Attack" screen, before map is loaded
4) After CTD, the option screen comes up with the game speed reset to Fast and the resolution reset to 800x600
5) Playing in windowed mode (at 1440x900) avoids the CTD
6) The problem is specific to Amfreville, possibly due to the shape of the map - the next battles can be played full screen with no CTD

There we go. I'll have some more time to play this weekend, so if I run into the problem again I'll update this thread. Thanks for your help!
