I've been lusting after this game for awhile and finally have my hot little hands on it (yeah, I know Admiral's Edition is coming out but I just replaced my super-old computer and now can run WITP and had some extra cash on hand)

Played the tutorial scenario and like an idiot I then said "what the hell" and dove straight into the full war campaign. Only problem is I kind of feel like I completely dissassembled a B-29 Superfortress in my living room and now have to put it back together...as in where to start and I'm sure I'll probably forget about 217 vitally important tasks in any given turn.

So, what I'm wondering is...do any of you experienced grognards have or can point me to something like a good checklist/order in which to do things in your typical turn?

Thanks,

-88

First welcome to the best game out there. Do not let the learning curve put you off in any way, be patient, have fun. And ask all the questions you want to.

Look through this thread : http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1274014&mpage=1&key=; it is a list of must reads.

What Stuman said. I refer back to those first and often, the manual is very misleading so if you can't find it in the "Must read" area I recommend posting your question. Most of the prisoners... err... I mean contributors here are happy to help.

Thanks, I will now go read all of that useful info and add it to the stuff from the manual that is already making my poor brain explode

That aside, I kept thinking all last night at work about ways to mount a defense in the CBI theater...I think I'm hooked

Here ya go, the WITP version of "Hotel California"

In a Texas apartment, sitting at a PC
Jotting notes in a notebook about convoys at sea
Calculating the distance to the next forward base
The Japanese are approaching Rangoon
With a quickening pace

His wife stands in the doorway, rings the dinner bell
But he is thinking to himself his ships could be sunk by a Betty or Nell
And when he's working and the boss is away
In his head he's forming defensive lines for the Brits in Mandalay

One more for the War in The Pacific
Such a complex game
Puts Pacwar to shame
Readying a turn for War in the Pacific
1 day turns, 5 years
Brings a geek to tears

His mind with rules it is twisted, he's got base expansion plans
He's got Excel and word files open and a pen in his hands
How he types on the keyboard, the CAP is all set
Engineers are expanding, he hopes he won't forget

Welcome to the war in the Pacific
Such a complex game
Puts Pacwar to shame
Plenty of turns in the War in the Pacific
Japanese have surprise
Over the shocked allies

Hours on the desktop, he has no social life
And he says "I am just a prisoner here of pixellated strife"
And in the admiral's chambers they gather for the feast
Try to attack Kido Butai but the Zero's are such a beast

Last thing I remember I was looking on the floor
I had to find that notebook that said what those AK's were for
Relax, said the gamer, the AI can be decieved
You can strike back any time you like once Hellcats are recieved

(guitar solo)
