OK in Winter 40 France fell to large German Army in place in TLC

Didn't look defensible with Allied help

1 French transport flees to UK! In other games I have had 2 x LF and 2 x HF! Am I missing something?

Italy goes straight in and Regina Marina blow away whole Eastern Med fleet including total loss of BBs!

Thank goodness Malta had already been etsablished by wise contingency plan

Scramble to put in place a reasonable force in East looks tenable for now

Notice expansion of Italians in Sudan

The Aussie INF have been sent to hold Kenya depending on Italian lack of offensive supply and just 3 MIL after all

Recap of axis turn W40

Hitler takes the initiative and decides to conquer western europe quickly during the winter to try and catch churchill with his pants down in malta....

But unfortunately the island is already heavily defended so no luck there...

some higher than normal losses in france becasue of winter but really not all that bad and less than anticipated...

Mussolini flips straight away and regia marina annihilates RN fleet ....who knows maybe the british crews were suffering form a hangover

Wolf packs have survived the night at sea and another day of sending unprotected trannies to the bottom off atlantic looks to be on the books

Over in the pacific the Japanese conduct some air raids and damage a chinese factory

Only just realized that the french decided to scuttle most of their fleet...(makes up for my last game that saw 2HF and 2 LF cross over!

combined with the success of the eastern meditteranean the pressure is now surely on the RN to keep africa from falling....

Spring Axis 1940

Well the shipping in the mediterranean is just ridiculous

Axis only able to move 2 units into egypt whilst allies have moved 4 in last turn

Axis forces deployed to albania to puruse greek over throw while paratroopers dust off their combat gear and head down to southern italy for a date with the maltese...

Subs continue to wreak havoc in the atlantic with two more trannies downed whilst gunther prien heads back to his new home in bordeaux to load up some more torps

Meanwhile german reconnaissance picks up a hole in the english defences...is hitler so bold as to pursue sealion????

Heres the scene in the med at the end of the turn...

RAF get busted but remove Axis fighter cover in proximity

There is no imminent pressure of Sealion based on Luftwaffe activity but Axis has 8 transports on map according to Mil Forces - but we think there is enough Home Defence

Some territorials head out to Egypt

Indian Army too swings out to there and Kenya so Aussie INF itching for a ding dong clobber an Italian MIL in Itai East Af and go vet

Strange omens... Aussie and I had a non tourney game before - this is better so far but we got an Aussie MIL vetted up before in this zone

Plus Axis swung Turkish lemons there way too as last game

We get Saudi oil tho

We seem to have parity force in Cairo

AXIS Summer 1940...

Disappointing start to the turn with Yugoslavia going pro-allied despite all efforts to circumvent it and go for the pro-axis coup by taking out Greece first (one turn too late i guess)...However there is one plus side because the problem with the pro-axis coup is that you only get very late access to Hungarian rail which will effect first turn of barbarossa....i dont think ill go for the pro-axis coup in any future games...

Anywayz Rommel has some scouts head into Cairo but large British reinforcement means that odd of achieving victory are going to be very low...

Instead decisions is made to assault Greece and gain port bonus for med shipping....

Greece taken no losses after heavy bombardment and aerial siege and instant improvement to med shipping is seen...More panzer divisions roll into Egypt and it appears that Cairo will fall next turn...

Troops also skirt around Cairo and take out Syria to threaten Iraq oil fields...

Wolf packs have another field day damaging four trannies and a fifth is damaged in port by a German bomber flying over scotland...

Japanese air force have some more success with a factory burnt to the ground and rail improvements destroyed...

Winter 41 Allies

In the previous turn wolf packs had a good turn zapping trannies with a few sunk. They also took Greece and Yugo

The Axis had put CAP in Tyrrhenian sea of HB, TAC & CAG but RN forced through to enable its own CAP to engage the Regia Marina who are securing the Axis supply for their advance on Middle East

They are down to one HF by looks of things and will need all their air

Some German troops had swung in to reinforce Italian Sudan and their transport and HB CAP and were knocked out

Syria which had been amphibiously taken was brought back and Indian reinforcments brought up

It might just be an Allied holding action in Trans J but Axis supply lines might be shaky if RN can break through from Gib

There is a great volume of air in N Italy though for CAP

Not much to report in west

RN concentrates on escort rather than search and destroy against subs

RAF raids France and puts CAP over sub lanes

Subs try to take out tranny support for the middle east but elite sub scores snake eyes and fails to damage tranny...

HF is called in to dispatch tranny and LF protecting Arabian sea with good effect...rommel attacks trans Jordan with combined armed forces making a big difference...although axis are bounced out, half of all allied forces are damaged and then destroyed with no route back to factory...transjordan likely to fall next turn as the middle east is virtually empty now...

Subs are continuing to raid atlantic with good effective dispatching another 4 trannies...

Bigger CAP is put in the med this time (3xF, 2xTAC, 1xCAG, 2xHB) so hopefully they can hold out

Sudan is evacuated and Japanese air force toasts a factory in china

Hitler begins to shifts forces to the eastern front....

Phew after the scrap in TJ Persia (Axis leaning) is invaded to provide a land bridge for Iraqforce - should have done that last turn but thought the ART in IEA would be OK to stop Italian HF

TAC takes a pop at in port HF in Cairo and misses

Sudan taken back

Otherwise it is fall back to Iraq with oil refinery and reinforcements come in from Aus

So no land contact due in Middle East for 6 months and there are 2 ART in IEA to fend off amphib or Italian raids

Don't want RN to risk Axis CAP in west Med but that's alot of aviation fuel getting burnt up and those forces will be needed out east...

As we can see still scrap in ME and Axis units still queueing up to head east

Axis has 107 supply only I don't think Barb is on yet

The build up in ME as Iraqforce is bumped up with Persia now Allied conquest

Axis have damaged another bunch of trannie but we can still get round Cape

Still big Axis CAP in East Med - lots of fuel...(8 units) . We have our own ASW CAP down East Atlantic now to disrupt France to N Africa

RN damage a sub now that ASW is 2

Vet strat air bombs Eastern French mines again

Vet TAC in Iraq destroys Italian trannie

Chinese AA gets 2 damaged Jap air

Well im back again, sorry to BenT for the short break will try to keep you updated in future...

AXIS TURN SUMMER '41

Well turns out this was an interesting little turn...

German high command convinces Hitler of the benefit of pursuing the british in the middle east to gain acces to iraq oilfields and the decision is made to temporarily delay barbarossa...

Meanwhile Il Duce decides to invest some money in shares of esso, bp and shell to try and recoup back some of the expenses involved in keeping the large CAP hovering over the western med which is keeping the whole africa adventure viable...

Il duce also orders the regia marina which is sitting around doing nothing to engage RN in the western med and with help of air support one HF gets busted...RN really not having much luck lately

Meanwhile a LF and sub head off to stop reinforcements from entering iraq and in doing so dispatch a couple of trannies...fighter engages air units over iraq and a RAF fighter is sent packing...

And off the coast of france 3 veteran subs do very well to nail a tranny and damage a LF...jackpot would have been to get the CV sitting there as well, maybe next time

Japanes air force fail again with another HB getting stung over china...

Situation in the middle east:

Ok Allied Winter 42 here

a turn is skipped I think for AAR

Basically Allied land have fallen back to West India after large Axis force in Middle East was overwhelming

Italian HF and LF had overextended themselves to move off Kenyan coast which had let an Allied LF slip around from Madagascar and with the TAC blockade supply to these units

Now RN reinforcements arriving from around the Cape and India see them off

TAC usefully swipes an ART in Northern Persia, but look at the Caucasus a little slim for Russia

Germany must be going for Barb but Germany only has 108 supply not quite enough to assault and fix stuff in same turn

If it is that might require all the armour

In the Atlantic no subs sunk but torpedos run down to 2 out of the 4 subs

No more in Germany so CAP is put out to make France harder for resupply or heading port

RAF is doing a good job even through Axis flak now in place

AXIS TURN SPRING '42

Well well what an interesting turn with Franco coming onboard and just before barbarossa...an event that will no doubt change the shape of the war...

Like Ben mentioned axis forces could have done with more supply for Barbarossa and there are still heaps of resources that need to get fixed as wel l

Soviets have also amassed a huge army so axis no chance of securing karkov, instead wehrmacht only abel to roll into eastern poland and kiev, losses are only modest with soviets using the extra time taken to start barbarossa to increase evasion tech levels

Lack of huge supply stockpile means that only rail lines able to be repaired...

Meanwhile back in the middle east rommel just keeps on rolling this time an expenditonary force is sent in to probe the soviet breadbasket of west kazakstan . Last turn the politcal emergency caused by the conquest of persia meant that Soviets were able to reinforce the caucasus with tank and artillery division so no possiblity of advancing there...

Back in the med franco's forces seize gibraltar and secure the mediterranean passage...

Subs continue to skirt aroud the atlantic taking out trannies...

Over in the east japan continues inland and take over chungking, crack troops from the battle of changsha are redeployed to threaten the DEI...only problem is that francos allegiance i think has tipped the U.S into DOW so could be problems next turn as Japs navy not in position...

Will post pictures soon...

Allies Spring 42

DOW did tip over and Allies found themselves scrambling to put in ad hoc offensive in pacific at same time as russians recover from Barb

In Denmark a lone ART is knocked out and little expedition force lands to draw German forces which would otherwise head east. Not expecting to hang on here it will also prob draw 2 x ARM in east Germany - nuisance

Also Baltic German HF wiped out with new US carrier assistance

Couple of Med trannies also blown up by CAP air and Iraq rail busted by lucky goldstar TAC in India and an Italian TAC in Spain

In Pacific LFs do a reasonable job shredding Jap trannies from Pearl, Java and Andaman

Siam is sabotaged

Singapore, Java and Sumatra are all reinforced to slow down DEI force in Indochina which will know have to focus rather than go for all it could have with suprise

In russia

Lone German Inf in W Kaza is surrounded to prevent further movement and make a move from Persia with other forces suicide. Caucasus bumped up too

Factories in Belo and Smolensk sucked up

Kharkov which is in contact is stacked up to be a parity force. They have more offence in armour 9/7 but we have have better defence 8/8

They are outgunned 2 to 1 with better russian ART so we should hold as long as the small Red Air can stop German combined arms and rail bonus Russian loss

One of the things I had done is feed a few INF in to Eastern Poland

They are mostly lost but it ties up alot of German INF where they can't do much until they have moved east and Germans didn't get and fix much rail

Baltics was evacuated and russian baltic fleet is out and blew up a German trannie off finland

AXIS TURN SUMMER '42

Air force destroyed  over Kharkov with massive luftwaffe push and russian fleet is annihilated in the Baltic...

Wallies are turfed out of Denmark after suicide deployment to tie up german tanks heading east...wehrmacht rolls one step closer to Moscow...looks to be a standoff in Kharkov for now...

India is also threatened...and Japanese prepare to take singapore...U.S DOW has meant that nuisance artillery has been deployed to the DEI...
