Before you get flooded for requests, how much trouble is it for you to generate these avatars?

Chris

No trouble.
1) Launch the game - no trouble.
2) Load a saved game - no trouble.
3) Enter the Units in Game form - no trouble.
4) Scroll down to the requested unit. If a unit diffcult to find, filter down the Units in Game Form so that it only show a restricted list of units.
5) Print Screen with the counter visible - no trouble.
6) Open Paint Shop Pro - no trouble.
7) Trim the picture to the size of the counter only - no trouble.
8) Arranging the image so that the corners are of the same color (flashy pink), that I set up as the transparency color - no trouble.
9) Save as GIF file - no trouble.
10) Post here - no trouble.
11) Post at the Playtesters' FTP for any person interested - no trouble.

In the end, no trouble, and I love doing that, because I love the counters. If I could, I'd do all 6000 counters.

I was checking out some counters and noticed something.  Can Germany build class 5,6 and 7 class Carriers in the future (in MWIF) ?

You're welcome.

But, you did the same mistake as Gurggulk, you saved the picture as a JPG, thus you lost the transparency (the corners show on your avatar).
You should save the file as a GIF file from the forum's post, and use that GIF file unaltered as your avatar.

If you can't do that (same for Gurggulk), send me an email and I'll send you the file as an attachment.

Also, here is the Gneisenau.

They can build :

1940 CVL Elbe, Class 1
1942 CVL Seydlitz (replacement from cruiser), Class 1

1936 CV Graf Zeppelin (already in construction pool), Class 2
1937 CV Peter Strasser (sister ship of Graf Zeppelin), Class 2
1941 CV Kleist, Class 2
1942 CV Yorck, Class 3
1943 CV Clausewitz, Class 3
1944 CV Barbarossa, Class 3

The AiF countersheet add the following to the WiF FE game :
1944 CV Adler, Class 4
1944 CV Arche Royal, Class 4
1945 CV Siegfried, Class 5

But these counters are not part of the MWiF countermix that does not include the AiF counters nor the PatiF ones.

No it's not fixed.
The file you have shows white corners.
Send me an email and I'll send you the GIF file with transparent corners (froonp at gmail dot com).

AiF is America in Flames and PatiF is Patton in Flames. Both of these add-ons start after the historical WW II ended. MWIF product 1 is limited to the addons for the historical timeframe for the war. That means that Asia Aflame and Africa Aflame modules are included in MWIF product 1 (it is easy to get all these abbreviations confused - I do).

Just to be even more precise, AiF & PatiF include air units and naval units from the WW2 timeframe that are added to normal WiF FE games.
The same way that WiF FE starts in 1939, it still have units that are dated from the 20s, even the 10s, and AiF & PatiF have units that are dated from the 30s and the early 40s.

There are
- 639 Land units from 1938 to 1951 (not counting duplicate units) (496 of them are from 1938 to 1945).
- 359 Air units from 1935 to 1951 (251 of them are from 1935 to 1945).
- 217 Naval units from 1926 to 1951 (not counting those that are not used in WiF FE games because already represented) (134 of them are from 1926 to 1945, from which the 3 what-if German CVs listed in the post above).

Edit : PatiF & AiF really allow the WiF FE game to be played beyond 1945 indeed.

Here is one for Hans Peter.
Please remember to save it as a GIF file, otherwise it will loose a lot of quality by saving it as a JPG, as well as the rounded corners.

ADG has the habit of throwing in extra counters with each add-on. That is, some of the unit counters are not directly relevant to the add-on itself. I guess they have room for a few more units on the countersheet and cast about for units that they would have liked to have included earlier.

I think I will just throw in here that, ...

... while I have refused to include most "WIF design kit" elements as part of MWIF product 1, ...

... the data files are CSV (comma separated values) files that can be editted using Excel or Notepad, so ...

... you can change which hexes have what resources, including factories, to affect the game's play-balance.

One caveat on this is: if you manually go in and modify the game data files, when you restore a saved game, all the current data files must match what were in use when the save was made. For instance, if you modify the data files, all the saved games that come with the released product will fail to work (crash and burn immediately).

First of all, sorry for my bad English (I'm Italian and I studied French).

If I well understood, it's possible to make these modifications:
- change the values of the counter (with Excel or similars)
- change the Hexes, adding or removing resources, factories etc.

I've a few questions:
- is it possible to add railways, road, cities etc.?
- is it possible to add units?
- is it possible to place on map units not foreseen in the official rules?
- is it possible to change the production year of an unit?

I'm writing an ucrony about WWII, supposing that italians find Lybian oil in 1932 (Point of divergence - POD) and they are able to buy some naval and aircraft before that on LT (time line); e.g. Aquila CV is committed in sept. '39, Bragadin (Ciano type) CA in nov. '39 etc..

Thanks.

Mino

Yes, but I would recommend editing them with a text editor, not Excel.

Yes.

Yes. Railways need to get used to the system, but you can add / remove any railway and road.
Cities are easier, though still tricky. You have to modify 2 files to add 1 city.

quote:

- is it possible to add units?

Yes, but only land units or generic naval units. You can't add new air units with new air units graphics, nor use the existing graphics I believe.

quote:

It is possible in the beta, but I suppose it won't be in the final product.

quote:

This one is very easy to do. Just change the year of arrival in the force pool for a unit.

Patrice is correct in all his answers here.

The units specified for setup in any scenario will not be accessible for modification. However, if a unit is random selected, you can modify the force pool from which it is drawn by adding and subtracting units. So, you could added a couple more subs or mountain units, or whatever. Or delete some of those unit types. Or modify some of those units' factors (e.g., year, carrier class, etc.).

Changing the map is very tricky. It is likely to make all saved games incompatible. Bascially, a saved game expects the data files for ports and cities to be identical when you save the game and when you restore the game. If you are willing to start new games every time you modify the map data files, well then, the program should run fine. You could think of modifying the map as a POD.

All those MWiF counters-avatars are good for MWiF advertising, they are so beautifull, and so identical to the paper game counterparts.
They both show how much MWiF is close to WiF FE, and how beautiful MWiF is .

With the Factory in Flames counters there is a Soviet 7-7 Mech Cav.

Besides, there is no HQ with a reorganization of 9 either.
