Hi, I don't own any of the cc series, but always been interested in trying them out. However, the only way I'd be interested is to play PBEM/internet, and one of my opponents would be my son. We have two pcs in the house (one somewhere in the jungle that's called his room), would we be able to buy one copy of this and play between us or must you have the cd in the drive etc?

Cheers

No CD required... especially if you take the Download only option.

I'm not sure of the legal requirements though  :)

Thanks, that was one of the points bothering me. I want to play against my son, we're in the same house through one internet router etc etc etc, and if it were a board game it's not as though we'd buy two copies is it

Well, decided to buy the game and placed my order (after the usual 30mins faffing around with payments that don't go through etc etc). Now, I know my broadband isn't the fastest in the world, but 6hrs to download the game!!

6 hours with broadband....dam....

DSL I got did it in a little over a hour, if it was that long...

Good luck playing someone online with that speed but at least you got your son to play thru your network connection. I'm still trying to teach fido but all he seems to want to do is chew on the keyboard while the cat plays with the mouse(the AI puts up more of a challenge)!

Gz...

Hmmm, maybe I need to revisit our internet speed or maybe there was a problem yesterday (there is sometimes). As you say, my main aim is to play the lad, so hopefully it won't be too painful.

Wow that seems like a really long time for a broadband connection.  According to my really quick math it should've taken 4 hours to download at 125KB/sec.  IIRC that's what my broadband connection operated at.  Still a long time but better than 6.

Hmmm, maybe there was something else that went wrong then, according to my tool bar icon today's speed is 54.0mbps but I can't remember if that's what I'm supposed to get or not, time to get in touch with our provider I think

Oops, I ordered the hard copy as well as the download thinking there was a manual (always useful instead of trying to print off a shed load of copy), but obviously didn't read the description properly .

However, I have to say, whilst the download took 6hrs the physical shipment was a very impressive 3 days to ol' blighty here in UK, and that included a sunday too --- impressive.

I sacrificed a print cartridge and printed the manual.

Yes, dumb waste of money, but I'm glad I've got my book.

I had a feeling this sort of outlay may be necessary to print the manual, but my experience is that I will 100% need to print the manual at some point.

I'm also surprised the box it arrived in was so thick given the two CDs would have been ok in something very thin (presumably this is standard packing or similar).

Living in a university town. I always load the manual on a USB stick or burn onto a cd. Go to a copy shop get it printed out in black and white. Cheaper. Then I get the manual bound for me.
I even leave a few spare pages in between to make notes if needed.

I then have a real good manual in DIN A4 size.

Thus I save on printer costs.
