you could in the old game

one of the changes with one of the early patches, it took alot of the old details out of it, it used to report when fire spread/Grew, now it doesn't, and in the old early game, fire could last for days

patched and our game, the fires pretty much burn themselfs out overnight

the early Mossie Pathfinders, carry all firebombs now, overall, the BC load out is more firebombs (or so I remember)

So does that mean there will be bigger but shorter duration fires? Or will there be the occasional fire storm?

I vote for burn 'em to the ground!
I enjoyed the very-occasional-three-or-four-day firestorm.

Since they are hard to start, I usually don't try.
But during the summer months with very low cloud numbers -- Hot Days? -- I might go after a city with everything.
Remember Terror Points count, too!

best way is muilty raids, from different angles, so fires begin in different areas and have a chance to grow, if everything hits the same spot, you blow out the fire/burnable spots

not sure if we can still get a true firestorm going, but we can burn out a large city area

Im not sure, but in my last read ("Der Brand, Deustchland in Bomber krieg by Jorg Friedrich), there were more limitation to create fire storms. For example weather high temperatures, cities like Berlin the british BC tries the fire storm and they couldnt ,ruined cities in previous bombardment had worst burn,Cities with medieval centre suffered this terrible phenomenon like Hamburg,kassel,pforzheim,Dresde...
