Which provinces give acces to Savoy (Aosta) ? My army is unable to access this country from Lombardy, Piedmont, and Dauphiny, so far. If access is denied due to terrain, cannot this be more clearly defined on the map ?

Is it your province? If not, right click and see if you get the option "violate neutrality". It might be that you cannot move into the province because it is neutral.

Sorry - I should have said- I am at war with France whose territory/protectorate it belongs to.

And it is a container/normal div (not MIL)?
If so I guess it is merely a movement issue. Does the line going there turn brown/dark red when you try to move your unit?

It is a container unit I've tried moving there. No coloured lines indicating potential movement appear . The province displays the French flag with a smaller one and states " France (Austria) ", so maybe France took it from Austria but I still cannot understand why I cannot access.
I'm going to try and get a "Free Passage" treaty with the Austria and see if that works. Thanks for trying to help Terje, I'll be back later to let you know how it works out - assuming I can strike a deal with Austria.

I think it means that it's a French province which is presently held by Austria. Therefore, unless you go to war with Austria, or obtain passage by treaty, it's off-limits.

Yup, sounds like ShaiHulud is correct. Try right clicking and chose "violate neutrality" unless you actually want Austria to be friendly...But then again who wants friendly powers

Yes Shaihulud, you're right. I obtained a Free Passage Treaty with Austria and then access was allowed. However there is little point to it.
I shall have to remember to right click a province in such situations more often.

In a single player game there is no friendly AI is there. I usually avoid alliances as the AI just drags one into inconvenient wars.

Thanks comrades.
