Is the prototype T-29 (the T-28 with Christie suspension) in the OOB? A very few were made and fought around Leningrad/Stalingrad.

I do not believe its in either 'version'.
unless thats what is called the T28E

Berrik, the T-29 was a prototype experimental model. Too few were produced to warrant inclusion in the database. Wikipedia says this:" The T-29 was a prototype medium tank, a modernized T-28 with Christie suspension � a later version of this vehicle was considered for the competition of prototypes which led to the T-34, but by then it was outdated (not to be confused with a Grotte tank project also called T-29). The T-28 also served as a testbed for the KV tank suspension."

The Maus is in the OOB, though, and only one completely functional model was made. Granted, it is a more high profile vehicle than an obscure Soviet tank, but at least the T-29 saw combat. ;p

The Maus is a different animal, more a 'designer' unit than an obscure Soviet tank that really has no special qualitys, and in SP Enhanced , its not in the actual German oob. Its in another oob, with alot of other Extra and Rare stuff, and is available only in 1949 for designer usage.
The Soviet oob is full , so if added would have to go into the Yugoslav oob where other extra Soviet stuff is. (talking about Enhanced oobs here btw)
But would need Icon, LBM, data...etc etc...

I was REALLY bored tonight...so here is the T-29 pic.

If you ever need it in the LBM format just let me know.

There was not much in the way of line drawings for the tank except one I found online so I followed it's premise. I shortened the T-28 hull and both turrets, replaced the small bogey wheel suspension with the Christie style road wheels (borrowed from a BT-7 image)and then re-worked the engine compartment and modified the gun mantle to what that one drawing showed.

Is is basically same stats as T28 except for suspension or something?
could use same icon?

I would assume it also used the more modern antitank gun of the B type. No data on whether it would've incorporated the extra armor as well, but it seems likely given when it was developed and what it would have been expected to fight.

Ok, I did a Google search using the Russian spelling for the tank series (Экранированные танки Т-29) and did manage to locate some more information. Since it was a Russian page I had to use a translator on so the English grammar may be off some.

T-29 Background information and specs from page translation.

The T-29 was similar to the build of the T-28, however in comparison it was 350mm wider and 200mm taller. This increased size was due to the the inclusion of the Christie style suspension within the tank hull. The hull was welded from rolled armor plate. The smaller turrets were identical in placement to those of the T-28 with the main turret housing a 76.2 gun and two machine guns in ball sockets, one in the front and one rear facing. There was also a stand for an additional AAMG to be mounted.

Hrm. Less frontal armor than the T-28e, but better than the base T-28 (and about as good as the T-34). Less sloping though, it seems. It's ungodly fast on wheels though.

Alby,

Only three models were produced and they were each were given a different series designation model number. The effective dates would be 1937-41 from what I see.

The T-29-4 and T-29-5 tanks (one each) were produced in 1934 and were armed with the KT-27 76.2 gun as the main armament with 74-78 shots. According to this source they had 5 x of the 7.62 DT MG's in the other gun positions with between 7000-8000 rounds between them (for an average of about 1500 rounds per gun).
These two models also had less armor than the final prototype.

The last model, the T-29, was made in 1935 and had the FS-3 76.2 gun installed in the main turret with 67 rounds of ammo. It supposed to have the heavier MG's in the secondary turrets but that apparently never happened as according to the document I have in front of me it also had 5 x 7.62 DT MG's in the other positions.

As for combat history...well that story is a bit vague. The 3 tanks were all that were produced of the model. Supposedly one was dismantled in 1938 to have it's chassis serve as an experimental testbed. It hints that one of the remaining two may have seen action with the 13th Army during the Winter War with Finland, was damaged and then repaired. No mention of it's fate after that.
The other model remained in Russia and eventually served with the 22nd Tank Brigade and was lost by the Fall of 1941.

I just copied what the one site had listed and tried to look it up later but found nothing with that designation.

My guess is it was a misprint or bad translation and it was supposed to say the F-34 which was the gun that went into the T-34.

Alby I can covert this one (the turrets have been stripped of their weapons)...or another one that shows the tank with its armament.
