Nope. That sort of card does not exist here. I have a debit card issued by my bank, and that's it.


Interesting....hope you figure something out. Another thought: we can buy 'gift' cards that are Mastercard/Visa types. They of course have a fixed limit of whatever you put into it, but it still works just like a credit card for online purchasing purposes. Could that be a possibility?

Be careful with these... some (most?) of the gift cards just have a number associated with them, but no name... you can NOT use these for online purchases.

They also start deducting money from the card after 6 mos - 1 year , and they charge you upfront for the purchase of the card... i've gotten 2-3 of these as gifts, and they are also a pain trying to use... you have difficulty in using them in restaurants (i.e. - they make some vague allowance for a tip, but then that puts the cards into a weird suspended state for a week or two (or more) until they figure out a correct balance...)

Actually, i was told (perhaps incorrectly, but by a college prof during a lecture) that it originated as a Greek word in the B.C. days... that scenes in Greek plays such as Oedipus Rex where he puts his eyes out were "not to be seen", i.e.: pornographic.

The layer upon layer of philosophizing in this stuff always amazes me. Why, for example, is it necessary to gouge out two innocent eyes, when it is the people and circumstances that are responsible for the calamity? I mean, inquiring minds want to know...

I bet they were porcene ... or maybe obsnographic.

And I think you were on the right track in the first place, Bob. Of course, as an ex-USAF officer, my experience with Army officers was that they were afraid to trust their own judgment lest some full bird come along and sh1t all over 'em (Army birds being generally full of it, of course, unlike AF full birds who were ALWAYS professional, courteous, encouraging, and ... and ... and ...).

The best encouragement I ever got from a USAF bird was, on climbing out of a jeep after returning from splashing in an RC-130, to hear, "Captain, report to my office in 15 minutes looking like something other than a f*****g pig!" I was encouraged to believe the man to be the biggest p***k I ever had the misfortune to meet.
