Hi Martin.
I have another try this automn: written part of the exam in september; oral part (if written part succeed) in december or january 2010. We have a lot of luck: this year there is 2 trying (in fact because the exams were organised in differents part of France: i tried the exam in one of those area, and the second try will be in my area).
Then, for 3 or 4 years there will be nothing more. I could explain wy there would be no more exams, but it will lead in a political debate, so i am not going tu explain further.
But that's it: i have a second try before the end of the year, and then nothing else.

And you, are you fine with the idea of becomming father ?

Morning to everyone.

As i have no more lessons to learn (since my exams failed), Miss Gladiatt decided that i should made a lot of electricity work in the home

.
It took me all the week end, except for the part when we were with her parents for Mothers' day

.

I'm trying to figure where my week-end disapeared ?

Unfortunaltely, i think Misses Gladiatt is greatly responsible of this... I should explain her that i need to rest from time to time.
I'm just trying this morning not to complain about her....and so the threadster are suffering instead of her of my whynning

He got cut. He was the top goalie out of the group of 6 all weekend, trying out for 4 spots. Another goalie, who was clearly the worst of the bunch, has the same last name, and I honestly think they got them confused and made a mistake. I can't begin to understand what else they might possibly have been looking at, and I can't explain it to my son, because I don't understand what happened. I'm hoping to get a return call from a phone message I left with one of the two coaches last night. I don't have high hopes.

Right now, my son is determined to never put on hockey skates again. For now, neither my wife nor I can even try to convince him to continue with it. We can't honestly tell him that if he works hard for the next year and spends lots of extra time with private lessons, that he will get a fair evaluation next year. He's too smart for that, and would call "Bullsheeet!" on us.

I think I'm going to be sick again.

Hi Mike. Sorry for you son. I still don't understand how a simple (???) error like that can get your son out of his sport. Can you have an explanation from a coach, in order to get sure there is no confusion in their mind ?
And as you told me once: the threadster here are the right people to complain (or rejoice in some case) with .

Yeah, Mike. How the heck does one explain to a child why grown-ups do some of the things they do. Seems both of you are confused, frustrated, hurt. Wish there was something I could say. J

Please let me join in the commiserations, USS. It always hurt like heck whenever I saw my kids getting the flying purple shaft, particularly as I felt so helpless to do anything about it (I had a strong aversion to the "angry parent" thing, as I'm sure you do, too).

When my son was in eighth grade, I had to get him to baseball practice by 3:30 p.m. (I was a single parent, my wife having died of cancer a few years before). Problem was, I got off work at that same time, and my hardass employer refused to let me flex my hours so that I could take care of "unnecessary" family business. I finally arranged to have a neighbor give him a ride, but by then, he had been benched for being chronically late for practice. Sigh. Then, in his senior year in high school, he basically picked up his baseball team and carried it on his shoulders to the state championship with astonishing pitching, hitting and fielding performances. He got honorable mention All-State. Then, the big city newspaper came out with its "Prep Athlete of the Week" award. Sonny finished second to a kid who played "adapted floor hockey."

I'm sure glad I'm not there anymore, old pal, and I don't envy your or your son's situation, but I can sure empathize. Best wishes to you both (and to the rest of your family, who I am sure are trying to cope with it, too).
