After falling in love with Uncommon Valor and seeing the manual for WitP AE, I dediced to finally take the plunge. The Mrs. is gone for the weekend ... think I picked the right time.

At least the house won't be a mess when she returns. The area around the PC may leave a little to be desired ;)

I best not forget to pick her up at the airport. Can popup reminders be added to the game? ;)

Lord have mercy, she slips out for the weekend and when she returns her life will have been radically altered by a creeping menace, a jealous mistress, an alluring rival, and all-consuming passion that will have ensnared her husband in a web with strands so unbreakable that he will be helpless for years to come.

In other words:  Welcome to the fascinating world of WITP, Panman!

No! Listen to me, this is how they got me in the first place. There's still time, run! Run for your life man!

Btw, I call dibbs on his first PBEM

Don't run, enjoy it.  If your wife objects to your new "hobby" (read as passion) remind her that you're not out drinking or chasing women.  There'll be time for her between turns when you start playing PBEM.  My wife is glued to the TV and me to the computer.  I do stop playing around the time she goes to bed so that I can't be accused of ignoring her.

Welcome aboard.

I'm surprised she still tolerates you, Todd.

Welcome to the ‘beautiful game’ we call WitP, and remember about the need for food, and sleep.
About popups; I don’t think so, but 'rtrapasso' might be able to answer that better.

Welcome Panman

ditto the above.

Ensure your coast watchers have instructions to be on the lookout for the silver bird carrying said returning partner.

Check your lines of communication to make sure that said coast watchers don't mistake incoming enemy with the silver bird and cause you to be caught napping in the early stages of staying engaged with real life and doting on your new passion.

I was thinking if asking to see if she wanted to stay an extra day or two ... however, I thought that might tip her off to me having a new mistress

My only regret so far ... not having made the purchase sooner.

True enough, unless the erstwhile WITPer has been diagnosed with a terminal disease and has been given less than two years to live!

Yes you too will learn as your eating lunch.... "Hmmmm Did I set the CAP at Manilla?"
Taking a break.... "Hmmm Did I load the right ENG group?"
Driving to your mother's house.... "Oh Crap The escorts! I forgot to set the escorts!"
Falling asleep.... "Where will they invade next and what is my counter strategy?"
The turn screen comes up... "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! They slaughtered my convoy!!!!!!!"

Where are you able to 'see' the manual for this one? I'm tempted.. price scares me, can't tell much by screen shots.. would like to 'see' the manual before making a decision..

I have both Witp and AE ... have never regretted either purchase.

Hopefully our wives dont band together and form the anti WITP forum. My "wife frown at immersed husband in WITP count" is nearing a million......

Are the manuals of WITP and AE similar?  Yes they are both large and detailed so that learning either game is an unending endeavor.  Be able to beat the AI on hard and then get clocked in PBEM.

Hmmmm, a gf with a lack of tolerance for your "hobby" (read obsession)?  Maybe she would prefer you crawling around bars?  Not a good situation.....

No you wouldn't - victory would feel too cheap. I ran into the KB with 20 CAP fighters and no strike aircraft, and the feeling of victory was very empty.
