There are over 700 on the card and my wife used 4 rolls of film. I want to share some of the ones from Point du Hoc and Omaha Beach.

Bruce, were you there on the anniversary?

No, thank you very much. We were there on the 4th (Thursday). They were setting up for Saturday. That was close enough.

There were reenactors everywhere. We saw jeeps, halhtracks, 2 and 1/2 ton trucks, motorcycles, utility trailers, 2 sherman tanks and a stuart tank

Hi all,

Oh my...

quote:

Israel woman 'bins $1m mattress'

by BBC

A Tel Aviv woman has been searching through Israeli rubbish dumps after she said she accidentally threw away a mattress containing $1m (£700,000).

The woman, identified only as Anat, had bought a new mattress for her mother as a surprise and threw away the old one, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

A search of three landfill sites has so far turned up nothing, said the paper.

When the woman realised her mistake, she rushed out to retrieve the mattress but it had already been taken away.

She hurried to the Hiriya local dump, only to find the mattress had been shipped to one of two larger landfill sites, along with another 3,000 tonnes of rubbish collected that day.

A search of the first site, Ganei Hadas, proved fruitless so she moved onto Efeh, close to the Dead Sea.

Yitzhak Borba, the director of the Efeh site, told Israel's Army Radio the woman had been "totally desperate" when she arrived.

He was reported to have kept some of his staff on overnight to fend off treasure hunters and help the woman.

But despite being unable to retrieve the mattress and its hidden fortune, "Anat" appeared philosophical about her loss.

"People have to take everything in proportion and thank God for the good and the bad," she said.

There has been no comment from her mother.

How on earth can you "forget" that you have a million bucks stashed away in your mattress?

Finished work.  Until tomorrow.  Bugger.

Plus points for today:
The Vulcan display, loud, low and an impressive takeoff.
The Spitfire and Hurricane display.  I would move tomorrow if I was going to work on those
Work finished.

Oh my Brothers. Just had occasion to look at a post titled HaHa on the AE forum. Was seriously upset.

Am sending a pm to many of you with a copy of an email I sent to Matrix regarding this. You might clean up the language, but if it touches your sensibilities, please feel free to adopt it and send your own version onwards.

There comes a time when one must do what needs to be done. I, for one am willing to commit suicide to rid ourselves of this piece of rat feces.

Ciao. John

Oh my Brothers. Erik sent me an email saying the offending party has been banned, so there is no need to send my pm content onward. I thank all of you for your responses.

If we stand together, and our place is honest, we make a difference. Thank you, all.

Ciao. John

What? Who? Who's banned? Nobody I care about hopefully...

Japan. The user, not the entire country.

praise the lord.

Yeah ,especially as this time he did it all to himself, without taking Dixie and Terminus with him! I still don't know why didn't take a bullet on that one.

It was only a two week ban. See the end of the Witp AE Manual Preview thread.

The last one was 1week. This was 2 weeks. Next 3?

So we had two contentious threads..the "foxhole" died very suddenly (big suprise) and "what would you like to do in WITP?", which surprisingly is still around. So what are your bets gentlemen? Slow lingering death from being ignored, or locked?

I gotta lay low for awhile, Steve. I just got a mod PM telling me what a bad boy I am, and I've been letting a few of my favorite morons leak me off a little too much.

Still, I wanna go say that I would like to serve as the guy who selects kamikaze pilots, so I could unload some of the dingalings from around here... but I better not say that, huh, Steve? Steve? Steve! You must help me, Steve!

Sure Pas! You want me to help you decide who lives and who dies? I can do that!

Say by the way , do I recall correctly that you live somewhere in Italy? I only ask because Naples is one of the location that we put on my wife's "dream sheet" as next assignment destinations (then again , between the two of us , we have been asking for it 32 years!).

Dunno mate. Partly because the Vulcan isn't operated by the RAF. And partly (or mostly) because I'm just an SAC and only ground crew, we aren't interested in that sort of thing or important enough to tell...

I'd like to see it go there, but I don't think it will as it's not on their list of historic aircraft. I guess they don't like the noise levels either. It's a fantastic noise, although it's probably (more than) a bit tragic that I can tell the sound of the VUlcan from all the other types at Brize (and I can tell them from each other)

We're just not important enough, Dixie old boy...

I found out on Friday that PRHN is leaving the hospital by the end of the month. She quit her job, presumably earlier this month, to go to Copenhagen and "try something new", as was all she'd tell me when I asked her, with a little laugh at the end.

A tiger can't change its stripes from vertical to horizontal, and she can't help wearing a suit of armour around me, but it still frustrates me. And it frustrates me that it frustrates me...

I'm not in love with her, but I think it's only natural for me to ask about the why's and wherefore's of such a comparatively major event, considering that I thought we'd been relatively friendly with each other for the past nine months. Guess not...

That's why I was so miserable on Friday evening, among other things...

it went to farnborough in 08 and made the windows rattle where i was working - hope to see it again at Paris - like you say awesome noise, but it does look painfully slow!!

That's because of its size and aerodynamic shape. Something that seemingly massive MUST be slow.

Whenever I've heard of someone going to Copenhagen to "try something new" it has invariably involved sex...I guess that you just didn't ring her bell...

OK, I've visited that site, and it appears that they are upset with the same individual that so many of us were furious with (until this weekend). He appears to have been a very busy boy. So for a change , the MCS folk and most of the Threadsters have the same point of view. (That's weird!, But welcome!).

Off to another interview tomorrow, just up the road from RAF Cranwell. Not sure I feel safe heading so deep into Crab territory...

Second best county in the UK Much better than all it's neighbours...
