And of course the usual whining about me... Poor widdle tykes...

I didn't see them so much as "whining" about you so much as declaring what they would like to do about you if they got a hold of you T. I get the serious impression that they don't like you very much. I can't understand that. Your always so charming here.

And I wanted to build them a jacuzzi... And fill it with napalm...

That's what I mean.....you are always charming. And thinking kindly thoughts of others. I really don't understand why they don't like you!

Me neither...

Gotta love the Tin Triangle...

It's a big noisy howling chunk of awesome machinery.

That is the plane in the James Bond Thunderbal movie isnt it?

Yes

I thought so. it lookes like a giant A6, or maybe the A6 is a little Vulcan. but it looks pretty in flight like an angry vulture. why do people not like it?

I think because it was the ugliest (and the last) of the V-bombers. The Victor was truly graceful and beautiful, and the Valiant had classic lines. The Vulcan looked like a big, angry Bat!

Not sure on that, I wouldn't class it as ugly. It also depends on how you are defining last, not according to any reasoning I understand. Because the Victor was the last to fly and the last to leave RAF service

As I said....the last of the V-BOMBERS! In tankers , the Victor was competing with VC-10's, Tri-Stars, KC-135's and KC-10's. And of course the Ugliest tanker of all, the KA-6!

Well, you should've said that you meant the last of the V-Bombers serving in the nuclear role

Dixie, when a bomber stops carring BOMBS , and becomes a TANKER, that is, an airplane that carries fuel, it is no longer a bomber. Hence, and airplane that was no longer a V-BOMBER! V-TANKER perhaps. But no a V-BOMBER. (Good lord, that's whats wrong with CRABS these days, ya hafta explain everything to them!).

Now run along kid. AND KEEP OFF MY LAWN, YA PUNK KID!!!!

Was a V-BOMBER! WAS A V-BOMBER! It went from being a bull to an ox!
Was a stud, then a dud!

The V-bomber term was applied to all three types because they all began with V. There's no such thing in international aviation circles as a V-Bomber type Just because the Victor wasn't a bomber doesn't mean it stopped being a V-bomber.
As an aside: People still refer to the B-29 as a bomber and the Spitfire is a fighter although neither type has done either for some time now.

You can't kick ass without tanker gas and Tankers do it for real

The Spitfire and B-29 are still fighters and bombers even though they are not used. An F-16 or Eurofighter are still fighters, even when they are not shooting at anything. The Victor, as a tanker could not bomb. As I said, it was a bull that they made into an ox. Until the late 1950's their were no airborne tankers, but they still managed some how to fight two world wars and a boat load of little ones! I know your affinity for tankers Dixie, but they might be called "butane bombers" , but they are still support aircraft. Helpfull, usefull, but, Warbirds they ain't!

Although a P-3 does have a bomb bay, does carry bombs, torpedo's ,rockets, mines and missiles, please note that it is a P-3, not PB-3.It is not, a bomber. It's no more a bomber than an S-3,SH-3,SH-2, or SH-60. (All of which carry ordance). But I can attest from personal experince, they do burn easily!

Sure Pas! You want me to help you decide who lives and who dies? I can do that!

Does this mean I would have to cede to you some of my quasi-mysical, semi-divine powers? Forget it, pal. I'll just continue running the universe in my haphazard, catch-as-catch-can, "I got no problem with Free Will and Fate, heck, I invented black holes and General Motors, didn't I?" way.

quote:

Say by the way , do I recall correctly that you live somewhere in Italy? I only ask because Naples is one of the location that we put on my wife's "dream sheet" as next assignment destinations (then again , between the two of us , we have been asking for it 32 years!).

Well, if you keep asking for it, you might get there just in time for that giant anthill-lookin' thing above the town to blow up.

Yah, Naples is a good town (a little "touristy" and "trendy" for a backwoods hillbilly like me), but I have only been there a few times, once a year or so ago to buy a boat (I posted a little here about that mostly out of nervousness as a poor sailor), but I live some considerable distance from there (I don't like to give out details, what with Interpol, the FBI, and all).

It'd be good to see ya in person, though, if ya can get yerself over here to my neck of the woods. We could go sailin'. I'm pretty good at it now (even been out past Gibraltar, to the Azores, and down the African coast).

I ain't Vasco da Gama yet, but I'm thinkin' about it...

Depends on how the girls feel about it. I wouldn't sell 'em, of course, I know the value of a rental business...
