It was more like our family "taking back" the family room from the pets.

(We made it about 15 minutes, then went to bed )

They won't give up so easily now that you lost the initiative and surprise.

Very true, anarchy! It is an ongoing battle with the pets, but I DID choose to marry a veterinarian.

We have a secret weapon at our disposal, now. Baby gates!

By my calculation, even using UTC adjusted time, it was still before midnight. .

In the interest of diplomacy can't we agree that it was 1245195660 seconds since the Unix Epoch?

Our workouts will now move down there from our bedroom.  The bowflex is down there, and there's way more room to spread out.  I don't recommend kickboxing workouts for two in tight quarters.

Interesting way to resolved domestic differences.....

Both have their advantages...a mountain location would be closer to work, but honestly I'd rather be out on the plains.  I could go south of town, but that leads into hick-ville territory pretty quick.

How would this be different from the rest of Colorado . . . ahem . . . Super Secret Hidden Base State?

Interesting....I would prefer the mountain option personally. Those treeless plains just don't do much for me.

Isn't it odd we put up with broken things around the house. Then when we try and sell the place we fix them for a complete stranger to enjoy.

Ahhh... The absurdities of life

The mountains have a lot of allure when you haven't been in them much, but here's my assessment of living there...
1. Very, very strange people live in the mountains....did you hear about the guy who kept dead relatives in an ice shed in his backyard?
2. It snows there...a lot!
3. You can buy a sizable piece of land, but most of your half acre is straight up the side of a mountain and pretty inaccessible.
4. The roads in and out of the mountains clog up with traffic on the weekends.

Of course the downside of the plains
1. Strange hick-ish people live there.
2. Tornadoes, hail and thunderstorms
3. It's a long way from work...anything really.

Personally, I like the tall waving grass, and treeless plains, especially after a thunderstorm.

Totally, most of this work is stuff I should have done 4 or 5 years ago.

Thanks Steve. Some of them have indeed been close calls, seeing how they treat people who are jub hunting defintely opens a window on to the way they must treat their staff.

That is a great insight, Simon, and a great mind set. Keep up that attitude and soon you and the right job for you will be attracted to each other.

Many years ago when I was searching for a job a friend of mine gave me a lead at a company for which he was working. He had been the plant manager when we worked together (for a company where I ran the Technical Services/Warranty department) and at this time was the research department manager at another local bicycle manufacturer. I sent my resume to the person he told me was in charge and never heard back.

Several weeks later he asked me if I wanted him to push the issue and my response was that I didn't want to work for a person who couldn't be bothered to respond to someone who came highly recommended by another manager in her company.

I dunno, Conquistador, your post seems to have a paler shade of white to it, somehow.

Well, we still do our "aerobics" in the bedroom, at least when our son is home.
